Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

Okay, I thought this kid was off for being a Sonic apologist, but this confirms that his parents need to get his ass on something. That's some demonic shit there. Roaring and screaming like that... that's not normal.

Back when I was young I just had to go outside and spend my energy there if I was being crazy like that.

It's autism; he genuinely thought him presenting his "true emotions" would get his opinions across. Believe it or not, I happened to get into contact with his mother and he's calmed down (mostly) since then.

Since Captain Falcon hasn't been announced yet I wonder what the odds of him being confirmed at E3 are, along with a new F-Zero game maybe?

Mario Kart 8 and F-Zero can coexist right?

I don't think he'll be revealed before release. And I can't imagine we'll ever get another F-Zero, especially not that this point. Maybe an eShop game?

I'd say low because I feel he'll be unlockable again. They *DID* make an exception for Luigi (being year of luigi), but I don't see it happening for captain falcon. If anything, he would have been announced for the tournament, but we already know the tournament roster. Because of that, I think his chances are below 20%, but that's just me. I think the chances of an F-Zero game being announced are lower than a captain falcon announce.

All this anti-grav in MK8 just makes me want Captain Falcon in MK8. I want an F-Zero track pack expansion, with Captain Falcon as a racer in MK8. It would be amazing.

Reposting my Demo Question List.

You ignored my "Are star KOs gone?", which was the very first question/request made right after you posted your offer for the first time.

:(

I was watching streams of MK8, and I with its many twists and turns, I was reminded of the 3D F-Zero games. Heck, some sections in a few tracks seem to be taken from or at least heavily inspired F-Zero X/GX.
Also, visually, a few of the courses could be from F-Zero GX as well (particularly the new Rainbow Road and Electrodrome), just "Mariofied". It's pretty crazy.

You know that would actually be a pretty cool compromise and a way for Nintendo to show they still care about the series. Although F-Zero would probably be way too big for Mario Kart given the speed the F-Zero games are known for.

I can't really see it happening unfortunately.

They could just make the stages relatively smaller, right? And add in new backgrounds?

I'm gunning for Villager and so should you!
Alright, good call!

I want a new F-Zero; I've always enjoyed it more than Mario Kart. If they're saving a C. Falcon reveal for a new game, I'm 175% fine with that.

So for people going to best buy, are you going to choose a newcomer first, or a returning vet? I really want to see how much returning characters are, but little mac is too tempting :S

For people that went to last year's Best Buy stuffs, how was your line?
I'd like to try and gauge when I'd want to get there.

I can imagine this year and last year might be a bit different. Smash fans are more likely to go than people who are just regular nintendo fans. You'll get both crowds, now. I know that mario kart/3d world weren't enough to get me to go last year, but smash bros is enough to get me to go this year. I'm sure i'm not the only one.

Here is the sped up GIF.
Way to ruin an excellent gif, Heath. The SmashGAF Gods are not pleased.

Ignoring that you can't change the plane you're fighting on like that, that face at the end aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Probably gonna try Sonic for the helluvit. If I get a second shot, either Mega Man or Little Mac.

Quite crowded. Line moved kinda slowly given the nature of the demos available (some were faster than others - Mario Kart 8 probably being the fastest, either Tropical Freeze or Wind Waker HD being the slowest; some could accommodate more players than others, with MK8 and SM3DW letting four play at once, DKC:TF letting only two, and TLoZ:WWHD being a single-player experience).

I expect this would be standardized more for Smash; presumably, two minute, four-player free-for-alls, with the only potential variation being Sudden Death rounds.

I'm sure the opposite is even more true. There were 4 games last year, now there is only 1.

Shouldn't use your own feelings and project that kind of thought as the common opinion.

EDIT: Sorry for being so blunt.

Location too maybe? Going during the weekday since the carpets are being cleaned in my office. I live in the midwest and even black friday is a joke at some of our best buy locations. I plan on getting there around 2:45 with my 3DS.

Yeah, it's hard to say. On the one hand, only people who care about smash bros will go this year, but on the other hand, I think smash fans are a bit more fanatic and willing to put up with crowds, even if they are fewer in number than non-smash fans. There will also be some overlap, as well.

I strongly suspect more people will show up this year though. I also think the lines will move faster, too. 2-5 minute matches, 4 players at a time, means they can get through roughly 50-100 people an hour. Last year it was usually 1 player playing a 3-5 minute demo, correct?

I'm betting Smash will make those lines look like nothing.

Anyway, my expectations are low as far as what will be revealed. As for the game itself, they're pretty high.

Given there is only 1 game this year and not 4, I highly doubt more people will show up this year.

The lines will move faster because it is 4 players at a time and only 1 game with a set ruleset most likely.

And it wasn't limited to 3-5 min last year, it lasted a really long time for each person.
If we get more Wii U content that 3DS content you'll probably be the frontrunner.

That or if people go to Best Buy to play the demo, and find out it isn't like Melee.
We already know it isn't like Melee. We also know it isn't like Brawl. But people won't complain about that.

People will complain if there is something stupid in the game.

I was waiting till a week was left to start it up. Since there's so much stuff happening, it means a lot of craziness will happen.

So guys.. It's time to place your bets! Lets go!!

Who wants to avatar bet me!! >:0

My Best Buy was packed, and I tried to go to a location that was in the middle of nowhere.

I played one demo of Wind Waker after waiting in line for 2 hours. Most of my time was spent watching kids no older than 10 drive into walls in Mario Kart or roll around not attacking the boss in Wind Waker.

I'm guessing we won't run into these problems this year with Smash, as the demos will likely be 2 minute timed matches. 4 players as well, so the line will move quicker.

Then again, this is Smash Bros. I expect more people to show up than last year. Nintendo has been pushing this harder than they did last year, too.

Given there is only 1 game this year and not 4, I highly doubt more people will show up this year.

I'm not sure I buy that logic. Quantity of games doesn't necessarily correlate to the people showing up. Smash bros is a bit different. We haven't had a smash bros since (early) 2008, whereas we had DKCR in (late) 2010, Mario U in 2012 (or 3d land in 2011), Mario Kart 7 in 2011, and Wind waker HD was just a remake of a game anyone could play at any time. I'd also argue that smash bros fans are a bit more fanatic (we're on OT 8, here) and are willing to jump through more hoops to play the game.

While I am imposing my own feelings, I know i'm not alone with those feelings. I know a lot of people who love smash bros so much that they'd be willing to drive over an hour (or more) to go play it, whereas they wouldn't care to do so with a game like Mario Kart or Mario 3D World.

I'm also sure a lot of the people who already went last year will also go this year (just because they are big nintendo fans). Add that number to the smash bros fanatics, and i'm pretty sure the turnout will be larger. Just a gut feeling, but I think I'm right.

I'm going to get to Best Buy 1.5 hours before it starts and I'm hoping for the best.

I'm going to try to go on wednesday, but I wont be able to get there until around 5pm (an hour after it starts). If i don't get a golden coin, i'll go back on saturday and show up 2ish hours early.

Sorry! There are few complaints that it is taking too long, so I sped it up for those people.

At least, I have other version which is pretty much slow.

iblAYZli1aNaZX.gif
What you need to do is take the "fast" version, take every other frame, and move them to the end of the animation (or if it's an even number of frames, just delete them all, I guess).

Well, making it even faster would amuse me...

Haha, I might should have done that for countdown toward to release date. :P

Anyway you can minimise the sizes of the GIFs? They take a long time to render and it lags my page at times.

Sorry, I tried to minimized it as I can without affecting good quality. (I'm pretty new at making GIF so I will eventually learn how to do it much better by then.)

See, I'm here with the mindset that most Smash fans are blinded by their love for Smash that they don't realize that not all Nintendo fans are Smash fans. It also isn't the best selling series for Nintendo (it was the best-selling GCN title with Double Dash close behind). Smash fans are definitely the most fanatical and the ones who would go out of their way for something, but there aren't as many hardcore fans as many believe there are.

Yeah, I know lol. I was mostly kidding.

I'm sure if they see that the game has a huge upside competitively, they will like it. It already looks better than Brawl to me, and I hope that tightness to the controls are back. That's one thing I liked more about Melee.

Watching that documentary gave me much more respect for the competitive scene, which I was a part of, but knew so little about.
