Do people even care about FF that much anymore? I think I'd rather see FF15 more than FF7.
FF7 means a lot to a ton of people.
For the majority of FF fans in the West, FF7 was their first. For some it wasn't just their first FF, but their first JRPG.
The amount of nostalgia for that game is insane- and I firmly believe it's one of the very few games that could get a full remake and pull ridiculous sales figures.
The game was an event in 1997 and was a major key, worldwide, to upstart Sony owning that next two generations with the Playstation brand.
How many games could you simply dim the lights of a conference, play the opening notes of an opening theme, show a future date, and have the place go ape shit?
I can only think of a handful, to be honest, and FF7 is one of them.
People would care- and with the game's 20 year anniversary coming up in 2017, you never know. It would be an intimidating project for sure- but with the right amount of help I can definitely see it happening. If GAF's own Verendus is to be believed, it is happening.
