Iwata skipping E3 for health reasons - Polygon

Whatever it is, I hope it is not serious and that he gets well soon.

Before clicking thread: Hey I wonder if this thread is shitting on Iwata for his health. Nah, not even GAF would do that.

After clicking thread: I don't know whether to be happy I was initially right or sad I was initially right.

Sad. You should feel very sad that even one person is doing that.

The cheap concern is almost as bad as the incendiary comments. That said, if he's sick it's probably pretty severe if he's missing E3 over it. If it's stress-related it makes me wonder if missing E3 won't compound his troubles, though. Missing this sort of major event, whatever the reality of it may be, does not make your company or your leadership looks strong.

What would you prefer exactly?

It's worse in other places. I actually felt sick reading some comments on IGN.

I hope Iwata gets better soon. He is a good man and a boon to the industry.

Maybe Iwata accidentally hurt himself from all the bombs he was planning on dropping at E3?

Really dude? You don't know the details of why he's skipping out and I'm pretty sure it is serious if he can't go to E3. Enjoy your new tag along with the OP's.

Sensitive much? i love Nintendo, i was commenting about the ton of comments here where people are saying he didn't want to come duo stress/etc i basically said it's ridicules and if it was true (if he reached that point) he should retire/leave

If he is sick though (likely since we are humans not robots) i hope he gets better

I can't begin to imagine the stress he is under right now. Regardless of what I think of his performance as current CEO (not very good to say the least) I hope he gets better soon.

Sad news, hope he has a speedy recovery.

I need to read up on their E3 plans. Just hoping to see the next Zelda.

I hope he's OK. He's by far the most likable CEO I've ever seen.

If it is due to stress it's likely due to an illness caused by stress, not just an excuse. Stress can cause everything from lowering your immune system and making you more susceptible to germs to heart disease and other major conditions. It happens to everyone. College students often get sick right after finals because the stress wrecks their immune systems.

This is the kind of thread other places on the internet make fun of GAF for.

NeoGAF is a nexus of hardcore gamers, enthusiast press, and video game industry developers and publishers. This is a neutral ground where facts and evidence, presented within the confines of civil, inclusive discourse, prevail through careful moderation.

Health reasons? Sure...if 'health reasons' means crying yourself to sleep over the disappoinment that is the Wii U.

'DAT ASS' is certainly a fitting avatar.

OT: Hope Iwata gets well soon. As much as some GAF members like to shit on him, he's been nothing but a force for good in this industry. Not every judgement call he's made has been a success, but gaming right now would be a worse place without him.

Here's to hoping he makes a speedy full recovery.

Not going to be shady and talk about the state of affairs at Nintendo, but a person's well being trumps all of our social impositions.

I wish him well.

We kind of forget that he runs a multi billion dollar company that's trying to find its place. I would be stressed too ,I'm sure as we try to speculate and be armchair CEOs doing the actual job itself isn't as glamorous as it seems.
