Mario Maker Rumor Discussion Thread

I'd love it if this was true. It'd be extra rad if I could make my own sprites and replace them with the preset ones, especially.
 
IF real it would be cool if they game could use assets from all the mario bros series and you could upload stages to miiverse to share with people.. Maybe share a clip like mario kart tv of your levels being played.

Did some cut-outs and over-layed it. Not only does it look identical, but the hand seems to be the EXACT size of the one on this google image-found image I found by searching "nintendo land balloon trip breeze"

Has anyone posted a mockup image with the Balloon Trip hand overlaid on top of the Mario Maker hand yet? If they really do match up exactly I think we can safely file this away as fake. Unless the person taking this photo did it from the perfect distance to make the hand coincidentally the same size as a google image result.

A few pages back there are some examples of Nintendo re-using their stock hand photos in multiple unrelated ads.

Here you go. Quick and dirty, but it shows the hands are not the same size. The one in the unconfirmed leak is larger.

So you could deface Mario or draw cocks instead? Not a chance surely.
Whether there actually is a 'Mario Maker' coming or not, I still say that banner is fake.

Thanks, I was looking for a comparison like this. Now that it's shown to be a different size I have slightly higher faith in this being a real leak. It's not so much that things couldn't be resized in photoshop, it's just that if the leak image would have had literally the same size hand as the stock photo I would have felt it was fake as the odds of the angle and distance from the demo kiosk being such that it perfectly lined up with the stock photo would have been too high to actually occur, imo.
 
Looking more fake by the hour, now this will never happen from nintendo, we all get hyped up for what could be an awesome editor and creative mario game design package to only now live on hopes and dreams of what could have been.
 
Whether this real or fake- that poster/art is horrible and the logo is so uninspired and ugly, I dunno, I just feel like Nintendo would put in atleast like a little effort into a design for a new game...

Its 100% the same asset. Real or fake the hand isnt a smoking gun.

Well yeah it's the same hand. But the images of those hands are not the same size. They're not even at the same angle. You really don't notice the hand "growing" as the overlay fades out?

Edit: Of course, the above example shows there are readily available larger assets of what shall be knows from this point forward as "The Hand," so it really doesn't mean anything other than if it is shopped, they didn't use the hand from the Balloon Trip picture that first cast suspicion upon the claim.

What some have argued is that the hand leak picture is a 1:1 same size picture as one you'd find on Google Images (and thus is a fake because the faker just lazily copy-pasted it).

But what they're saying is wrong, because the leak picture's is bigger than the one found on Google Images, as Het_Nikk shows.
 
It doesnt matter if its bigger/smaller, thats easy to change on photoshop, what matters is the perspective/proportions, it shouldnt be the same proportion of a google image since the pic isn't taken from exactly the front.

Hope what i said makes sense.

It does make sense. And if you watch my animation you'll notice the hand also "rotates" slightly counter-clockwise as it fades. So it's not the EXACT same angle.

By the way, I'm not arguing for or against the legitimacy of this rumor in anyway.

Just tryed it with photoshop and yup the hand is rotatted, but i was able to recreate in photoshop like in 10 seconds, so... i still call it fake.

 
So this is like that software for modifying ROMs of Super Mario World, but coming from Nintendo?

I guess it could be pretty neat, depending on how deep it is.

If anything it's most likely a wii u built retro mario engine where you lay down bricks and items and then share stages with friends, not a ROM editor of any kind.

I'm not sure that proves anything because ... well, you know, if it was real they'd be using Photoshop too.

Looks like you used both rotation and perspective, yeah? If that's the case, it should be recreatable, I think. I'm still staying out of whether it's fake or not, though :p

This struck a chord with me. However much it saddens me, I believe this to be fake. Would actually be a good use of the Wii U hardware, too.

This is the game I've always wanted from nintendo so its probably fake. I would love nothing more than to create and play endless user created SMB stages
 
Er, well...I believe in Mario Maker. While I'm not a big fan of Little Big Planet create-your-own type stuff, I would definitely play a Mario/Nintendo themed creation game.
