Raise the flame shield: Your "controversial" gaming opinion.

I could not finish any of the Mass Effects and, in fact, didn't get very far in any of them. I found them boring.

Something about the space setting just turns me off.

Video games are terrible.

Your comment and avatar, lol.

Time for another batch!

- Mobile has some really fun games now, I see no reason to neglect the platform these days - in addition to handhelds/PC/consoles and not in replacement of any of them, of course.
- Next-gen, even including WiiU, is so game-deprived it's not funny. I honestly don't recall a generation starting like this, basically everything that catches my eye belongs on older systems. 3DS or PS3 alone have more upcoming games I want than PS4+WiiU+XB1. So when people say "I can't go back to PS360" it really blows my mind, lol.
- Indies are not enough to make ViitaU appealing.
- Oculus Rift looks/sounds completely meh to me. But that may be because I don't play 1st person stuff.

Watch Dogs is kinda ugly.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 > Battlefield 3 & 4. The gunplay just feels a lot more fun. And when I jump into a BC2 match, I find I'm having fun from start to finish no matter what the map is. When I play BF3 or BF4, first I have I have to filter out all the maps I hate. Then hope that the game doesn't switch to one of the bad maps after the round is over. I probably spend as much time quitting to Battlelog and finding a new server than I do actually playing the game.

I feel the same, but for a different reason - having both motion sickness and frequent migraines, I instinctively fear even putting it on. Mind you, I never tried it out, and most likely would if given a chance, but at a glance, the premise itself sounds like a headache and nausea machine to me.

Dark Souls 2 is a gigantic turd.
Demon Souls and Dark Souls were fantastic,
But Dark Souls 2 has been made by a From Software B-Team, which tried to please some mainstream gamers + media.
The game is a gigantic downgrade to the first two Souls games.
It's horrible (after playing DeS and DS1)!

Of course you are entitled to your opinion, but this just seems a tad hyperbole don't you think?

PC's best games are it's multiplatform games. I struggle to find exclusives that would interest me and I'm coming up empty handed. This is a far cry from the PC gaming scene I left in 2001.
The X1 has more exclusive games that interest me, and no doubt Microsoft will be adding to that list.

Bioshock Infinite is awful on all fronts. It might look pretty, but the animations are jerky and inhumane. Troy Baker's voice acting is pretentious in it, compared to other stuff where he does well. The Story is a mess and all that. Oh and I didn't enjoy the gameplay for even a second. (aside from everything before combat started. From then it was all just a big "meh" rollercoaster-ride)

A Link Between Worlds leaves me ambivalent. On one hand it's got a fun gameplay and great design overall, but on the other hand it just feels like a very superficial game to have the "Zelda" name. It feels like it's the best and worst Zelda game I've played at the same time.

The Wii U is just a big-screen 2DS, and that's something I've concluded after playing it for a couple of days now.

I hate Mario Galaxy. I tried, but I can't get into it. And yes, I like 3D Marios, but the whole idea of jumping between smaller islands instead of running through a single long area really bothers me. Also, the platforming aspect is too dumbed down and requires very basic skills.

I've managed to finish Mario Galaxy 1 and played MG2 for a few hours, but it really didn't click.

Oh man! That's so unfortunate :(. What a shame you couldn't enjoy SMG. It is one of my favorite 3D platformers.

With you on this. A lot of my frustration would be alleviated if I could find a server that removed Flood Zone (because it sucks), and Zavod 311 (neat map, but I can't see shit on it). I actually prefer Locker to Flood Zone; that's how much I hate it.

Never understood the love for the Rush games. controlling always felt stiff to me. I always prefered the Crusin games *at least World and Exotica. USA could just jump in a fire for all i care*

I will never understand the concept of "objective" I think it is a term that just gets thrown around alot and i believe it just shuts down debate. To me, opinions of games are subjective. One mans trash as another's treasure i always say. Speaking of that, i hate the term "not aged well" and i think it just gets thrown around alot on old games just to prop newer games no matter if said older games are better or not.

Mario Kart 64 is a massively overrated game. I may hate the term "not aged well" but alas, i think Mario Kart 64 is dated. there were so many better 5th gen games such as Diddy Kong Racing, Crash Team Racing, Wacky Races, and Mickey Speedway USA.

Marvel vs. Capcom is my favorite 2d fighting and my second favorite fighting series only to the Smash Bros Series *Though Marvel 3 is a better game than Brawl* Oh and Pocket Fighters is an underrated game. it is so cute. that is all i have for now

Edit: Ok here is another bomb. I can't understand why some Gaffers here like Sonic Transformed over Mario Kart 7. Sonic Transformed might have the edge in single player and music and roster "though only slightly" everything else Mario Kart 7 has it beat. The steering is kind of clunky, the boat sections are terrible, and the plane sections are just ok at best. Also, the tracks, while dynamic, are too long for their own good. Plus, i think Mario Kart 7 is a more fair game. Sonic Transformed later difficulties are just flat out unfair. Plus, there is also my issue of framerate. Mario Kart 7's framerate is smooth, while Sonic Transformed's is not. Anyway, i like first Sonic All-stars game more. that was a great game.

Probably already said this but Shadow of the Colossus is the most overrated game perhaps in history of gaming, at least from what I've seen.

Drab, foggy, ugly graphics and terrible controls yet people praise the game because it's "different". Being different does mean it's good.

Make some serious updates to the graphics and fix the controls and the game would be alright. Otherwise, the game is a small step from being complete and utter crap.

And I loved Ico.

Shadow of the Colossus never really seemed interesting to me

The jump from PS3 to PS4 has been a major disappointment and reaffirms my complete disinterest in the Indie game scene. I'm really regretting giving my brother back his PS3 as I just don't have any games to play that'll hold my interest and for the first time in a long time I'm starting to lose interest in console gaming (with the exception of my 3DS).

That being said, and even as a massive Zelda fan, I fail to see why ALBW gets so much praise. Sure, it was pretty but the best handheld Zelda is still Link's Awakening. It was over far too quickly the dungeons were just far too easy once you rented/bought the item you needed instead of actually having to earn them in the dungeon.

That Phil won't improve Xbox as much as people think.

In addition to, the keniect should of stayed bundled. To encourage development of some unique games. Though I think it will be used for vr so that will help it.

I'll take a stab at this:

1. Nintendo has no clue what the hell they are doing, and as a result they are tripping over themselves. People seem to think of Nintendo as this constantly innovative and calculated company but over the past 4-5 years they seem like a confused pop star who can't figure why their 1 hit wonder was such a huge success. The Wii U is crap, period, and Nintendo has done nothing to help themselves compete with Sony and Microsoft. Which reminds me, stop pretending Nintendo is in a completely different business as Sony and Microsoft, they aren't. All 3 make video game consoles, the only slight difference is Sony and Microsoft have persued the idea of "media centers" more than Nintendo who wants you to use a tabletroller that sucks as both a Tablet and Controller.

My man.

Let me add to the Nintendo hate and say that the Mario series has lost its way. In itself that's not a very controversial opinion, but here's the angle that most people miss: it's because at some point Nintendo decided that the Mushroom Kingdom was a super colorful magic candy land, Mario and Luigi are clownish goofballs, Yoshi a baby, and the Koopa Kids not actually Bowser's kid. Anything remotely cool about the Mario series has long since been replaced by cutesy crap any meaningful development (Rosalina's backstory in SMG for instance) is quickly swept under the rug. People rant about Sonic's shitty friends but don't complain about how idiotic it is that they are adding baby versions of everybody to every Mario sports game. Why? How does that work exactly? Doesn't matter, it's Mario. The worst part is, Nintendo has people sold on the lie that this is how Mario was always supposed to be. No, Mario was cool once. Cartoony, but cool.

Nintendo's stable of characters might be visually iconic, but as actual characters they're beyond dreadful and catch far more breaks than they deserve.

Yes, I'm still bitter that people had the nerve to complain about the PSABR roster having no interesting characters while Nintendo drafted the Wii Fit Trainer, a NES peripheral, Mr Game and Watch, at least four alternate versions of existing characters, and no less than nine Pokemon into their roster.

I loved playing Knack, and trully believe it was one of the most unrrated games!
I hate Trine, and cant find the fun on that game!

Dark Souls is overrated as hell.

Ugly graphics, disgusting PC port, clunky as fuck movement/gameplay and a difficulty that makes the game not fun.

People keep going on about how it's great that it's so difficult but it's just cheap and frustrating. You can make a complex game that's hard without being frustrating like DS.

DS2 looks identical.

Reminds me of what happened with Mickey Mouse. Started off cheeky and mischievous, but once he hit the big-time they had to round off all his corners so he'd be as inoffensive as possible to the masses. After a while he'd become little more than a cutesy graphic for Disney to stick on products.

I was with you on line one, but you lost me on line two.

I think some games should be more expensive. The $60 price tag has been the same for too long and hurts those who make the games...

Gears of War is shit
Nintendo needs to commit suicide or sell to apple
Naughty Dog is overrated
Industry would be better without Xbox
Sega deserved what they got
The Last Guardian is overrated, looks like a waste of time

There I said it.Heheheheheh

I played trine 2 on the Wii U, and im kinda in the same boat in some respects. I didn't hate the game, but outside the aesthetics it felt fairly bland after a few hours. Some of the puzzles were cool at first but seemed to feel the same after awhile, and the combat never felt engaging enough to hold my interest. It's a decent game, but i don't think it's anything special either.

How can something which you have barely seen, let alone been released, be overrated?

Currently playing Murdered: Soul Suspect and have not long finished Watch Dogs. Now my opinion on this may change as I got further into Murdered, but frankly that game has had a bit of a disservice I feel in its reviews so far.

The gameplay is simple, yes but the story is good and the acting is really well done. On the other hand is the Watch Dogs comparison, a game that has sold ludicrously well and reviewed quite well also. It's a bloody GTA clone with a stupid gimmick attached to it and with no other discernible feature to call it's own.

Frankyl, I'd rather play Murdered, at least that is doing something bloody different.

Not sure what it means for a company to commit suicide, and how about any company but apple? I'd rather them get sold off to Sony or Microsoft, or some company that could put their games on multiple platforms.

- Final Fantasy VII was boring and a bit crap.
- Super Mario World is vastly overrated.
- Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a pretty dissapointing sequel.
- Mario Kart 64 was the worst MK game.
- Outside of the dungeons Ocarina Of Time isn't that great a game.
- Smash Bros Brawl was vastly inferior to Melee.

- Smash Bros Brawl was vastly inferior to Melee.
Actually, that's the common opinion.
That being said:
I prefer Brawl over Melee
Dark Souls, while by no means a bad game, really is overrated to me
Jak 2 is shit and the first one was better
Super Mario Galaxy 1 > 2
Uncharted 3 is the best of the series
Sonic Adventure 1 is still a pretty good game
Arkham Asylum > City
JRPGs are generally boring to me
Black Ops 1 was the best Call of Duty game, both multiplayer and single player.

I didn't find Ellie to be that interesting of a character in The Last of Us. When I try to remember what her personality was I just get nothing. Through the whole game, she was pretty much just "spunky girl who swears a lot."

Maybe I just missed something, but I really couldn't get invested in her or anyone else's character. It all felt way to formulaic and predictable.

i like Uncharted more than Tomb Raider. Uncharted 3 is my second favorite game of Naughty Dog so far. *Not interested in the Last of Us*

Don't understand why Nathan Drake gets singled out as some mass murderer while every video game character known to man gets a pass.

That's a perfect analogy! Just as Mickey used to be sort of a wannabe-tough-guy scrappy little fellow, the further back you go in Mario's history the less of a homogenized caricature he seems.

In general, the art that Nintendo once used to represent Mario and his world showed a lot more character and seemed more..."real", for lack of a better word. Less rubbery or plasticine, and I don't think the switch to CG art should have to account for that:

...to this (which admittedly is one of the best CG artworks I've seen of Mario):

Linear games>>>>open world sandbox games

Definitely agree here.

While I love stuff like Fallout 3/New Vegas and Skyrim, other open games like GTA, Infamous, Just Cause 2, Saints Row, etc. tend to bore me. They often just feel so lifeless and unfocused.

Xenoblade is the worst Xeno game, the gameplay is FFXII on stupid, Nintendo was right to not want to bring it over, and people who claim to love it are either suffering from a form of gaming Stockholm Syndrome, wherein it's difficult to admit the op rainfall was a mistake, or want to be contrary toward the vastly superior FFXIII.

Not kidding. Hate all you want.

People complaining about the lack of games for the PS4 and Xbox One have bad taste, have amnesia or are 10 years old. Console transitions have always been like this and always will. There has always, from every single leap from one generation to the next, a year time frame where it seems that few games are released. People forget that the games they are eagerly awaiting are still in development. It simply takes time. It's not like they've had finalized tool sets and dev kits for five years. They aren't going to makes games on old platforms either. Most of you hate the idea of last/ cross gen titles anyway. So just be patient. Hell, no one told you to buy your PS4 or Xbox One day one. You made that decision knowing damn well what was available and what wasn't. By this Fall and beyond there will be plenty of games to play.
