Captain America: The Winter Soldier |OT| "Before we get started...

Finally saw this today and I'll echo the positive comments on the action. Cap and co looked like such freaking bosses throughout the whole movie. The Winter Soldier was menacing whenever he was on screen and he looked absolutely amazing. The Russos really did hit out of the park with this movie and I can see why Marvel wanted them back ASAP for Cap 3.

Thought this was pretty damn great anytime people weren't talking about anything related to the actual plot.

Amazing action... well shot film. 3D was well done imo. Enjoyed it.

Dumb-ass writing. Redford was wasted here (I was excited to see if he could bring some weight to a comicbook role, but it was just corny) thanks to the campy dialog.

just saw this tonight, fucking loved it. my fav mcu movie yet. action was well coreographed and very entertaining, love that the russo brothers had the raid as an influence, as it really shows. I think my favorite scene is actually cap running through the office doing his best hulk impression. so awesome.

and I am now convinced scarjo could carry a solo black widow movie. she was awesome in this, way better than her other marvel movies. and I normally hate the haircut style she has but she rocked the fuck out of it. falcon scenes were also really cool, he and cap had some good chem

i saw it today and it's easily the best marvel movie

EDIT: chris evans still can't acting

Err, Cap's personality is actually far and away from his IRL personality. So the fact that he can convince me that it's Cap on screen instead of Evans shows that he can indeed act. Moreover, he delivered the goods during scene at the bridge of the Hellicarrier with Bucky and his scene with Peggy at the hospital.

EDIT:

Steelbook Edition of the film:

Fairly long bump, but I finally saw this movie today and it was incredible. Right up there with Guardians of the Galaxy, which I saw last Friday. The action in this was better than any of the Marvel movies IMO, those ass-kickings Cap was handing out were legendary.

Yes. The fight choreographer should be used for all future Marvel films.

I'm looking very forward to seeing it again on September 9th when the blu ray comes out. We are going to have a double feature at home that night, CA1 followed by CA2, and it will be glorious!

Between TWS and GotG it's hard to pick one over the other, both were exceptional films and the best Marvel has done yet. TWS is a better movie overall but GotG is just so damn much fun.

I just saw it today and I must say I am pretty impressed with the movie and even breathless.
I am no critic and I like and dislike movies. This flick was fuckin dope as hell and I liked the said hell out of it.

What and incredible never stopping experience. Whew!

The flow and pacing, the story structure, the characters and their goals, the action sequences, etc. One hell of a well made popcorn movie. That Nick Fury chase scene had me on the edge of my seat.

Really happy their using the same team for the third one.

I felt exactly the same when I first saw the movie. On that note, if you haven't seen it yet, I'd definitely recommend you go and see Guardians of the Galaxy.

reposting from the MYSR thread

Winter Soldier. actually saw it months ago but realized I haven't written my impressions

surprised me a lot. As a superhero movie it's extremely good, much better than IM 2-3, Thor 2, Avengers and that piece of boring rotten arse that is CA: The First Avenger. The action scenes are actually well directed and miles better than the plastic toy feeling of those in Avengers; there's weight and actual coreography to them, and you feel the characters, CA included, are in real danger most of the time. The spy story/ action hybrid is perfect for a movie about Cap, and there are even a few emotional moments that feel sincere and not shoehorned in just to give the story a fake sense of gravity. Evans is perfect, Redford is scary, Johanssen's buttocks continue to raise boners, the cheesy patriotism is basically reduced to zero, well, I left impressed

skyrocketed at the top of my favourite superhero movies alongside Spiderman 2 and TDK

Oh man I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this movie.

Winter Soldier is a 10/10 easy for me and the best movie of 2014 imo by a fair margin (not even Xmen or Guardians could match up)
Plus Chris Evans just nails it as Cap, I think he suits the role even more than RDJ does Iron Man.

BLu-ray doesn't coem out until September?

It's out already here! (NZ). Bought it on iTunes though.

I remember feeling the same way at this point, and was kind of pleasantly surprised, like "am I really that invested in this?"

So much was just done right. The intro scene felt like a stealth operation, but with a Marvel superhero in the center of it, what with CA trucking through dudes. The moments where you don't know who Cap can trust, even making you wonder about characters like Black Widow — she's an Avenger, so she's a friend... right? Shit just got so real partway through and the suspense was well-paced, as was the action. They managed to make have a superpowered super-solider as the lead and still managed to paint a narrative that exploited the ways in which he's vulnerable.

just saw this, and while I enjoyed it and the action scenes were well done, I felt that they could've been done in any action movie. it didn't feel like a captain america movie.

Really good movie, I wasn't expecting
the Zola reveal and the whole Hydra plot, I already knew about Bucky though
.

Such an improvement over the first one.

Picked it up on BluRay today and watched it for the first time... Meh. It wasn't bad by any means but nothing grabbed me as great. Honestly preferred the first

Fight with the Winter Solider was a bit lacklustre. I wanted to see more but it cut to that other dude with the wings that I just can't recall the name of

I don't understand how Amazon "wins" these disputes. I just ordered it from Best Buy, which I'm more than sure will have it for the same price.
Amazon accounts for a large percentage of a studios total sales. So Amazon wants something from the studio, and holds certain products hostage until they get what they want. "We will make it difficult to buy your stuff, which means X decrease in total sales for you, unless you give us what we want."

Wal Mart used to do this too.

Still can't pre order this on amazon. I was really hoping to have it and Destiny at my door on 9/9. Guess I'll have to find time to get to a Best Buy or something.

I watched the first movie and this one back to back. The jump in quality is staggering.

I certainly understand why some people might not enjoy first avenger but if you're willing to accept it as a nostalgia piece that borders on being a propaganda film, it's so much fun.

That's something I really love about Marvel movies. They're not all cookie cutter template movies with interchangeable heroes. They tend to inhabit different genres and have different thematic tones.

I saw this again last night/this morning. This and GoTG are such different movies. I like to think that CA2 and GoTG are happening at the same time. I think this one is still my favorite of the Marvel films.

I know right?

I went to see GotG last friday (and bought the blu-ray of Cap 2 before) and watched Cap 2 on saturday. It's actually somewhat strange these two movies exist in the same universe. I'm not complaining though :)

Good film, hope Joss utilises the fight choreography in Age of Ultron.

and the after credits scene was just weird and didn't make a lick of sense

I don't think it was really supposed to.
No one who doesn't read Marvel comics religiously knows who Baron Strucker is.

Basically it exists to tell you that HYDRA is still active in other parts of the world, not just within SHIELD, and that they have custody of two superpowered beings, "the twins."

Edit: sorry, totally didn't realize that this was the non-spoiler thread. BrokenFiction please edit your quote of me accordingly.

And also that
Loki's staff is still out there.

What's the cheapest way I can buy this in America? (preferably in HD) I missed it when it was in theaters. Amazon's $20 price is okay, but want to know if I can get it cheaper.
