So guess what I'm doing tonight to celebrate?

Wow, ign fucked up bad this time.
Did Ryan from ign have something to do with the rumor, or why is everyone hating on him?
Well if the TLG doesn't show up at e3, then I think it is cancelled.

Man, seriously... Fuck IGN.

I think arthur is right. It is a very weird situation. You don't have your editor in chief post something like that unless you are SURE.

That's the thing I don't get either. IGN wouldn't have posted this if they weren't absolutely sure it was true. Despite what idiots here are claiming, it's not some conspiracy for them to get clicks, IGN isn't that desperate.

I think this about sums up the rollercoaster I just went on for the last 20 minutes

I mean, this damn image still captivates me.

It's like it represents the all hidden possibilities of gaming that is unrealized, unannounced, wholly original, laying in the shadows somewhere, chained up, and one day those chains will break, and whatever it is will blow our god damned minds again. Maybe I'm projecting all that pent up need for something on Shadow of the Colossus's level, maybe its been too long since something truly great came along and changed everything I thought was possible with gaming, but till then, I'm gonna keep the hope alive.

BELIEVE.

So, here's how I see the situation.

Earlier this morning, some Russian source leaks to a few no-name sites that The Last Guardian has been formally cancelled. It's quickly dismissed, people move on, etc. Saturday resumes.
In the evening, Scott Rhodes is at dinner, the rumor is brought up. He laughs it off. Hahaha, Russia.
All day, IGN waits. They know something. They know the rumor is legit, but wait all night for an additional source. Late at night, around 1AM EST - they get up the confidence to post the rumor with an official tag. Their posting's timing indiciates an additional source that proves the game's end.
GAF explodes.
Rhodes, seeing the madness, replies. Haha, he laughed this very rumor off earlier! Not knowing what else IGN knows, pushing them to delay the news. He tweets.
GAF explodes.
Sony RTs Rhodes.
GAF explodes.

So if we assume IGN is right, they have inside info that hasn't yet hit Rhodes or Sony's official PR firm.
Or we assume IGN is wrong, and they held a story all day for no good reason.

I'm not sure if I want TLG to show up at E3 just so IGN can get the most massive, rankest serving of crow in vidya history, or for it to remain MIA and just let this whole thing keep stirring for a few weeks.

Why is vaporware like TLG even news? What was it even going to be? Asymmetrical puzzle solving interwoven with understated storytelling and the bird goat thing dies in the end. Who gives a shit. It's a more transparent "FEEEEEEEEEELS" magnet than Brothers or The Last of Us.
