Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (Naughty Dog) Shown - 2015

MGSV/UC4 hitting 1080p/60fps should honestly embarrass some of the "next gen" efforts so far. I know those 2 teams are the best of the best but damn that's fucking impressive.

Its because mainstream gamers can't tell if its 1080p or 720p so why spend the extra resources.

But Naughty Gods push boundaries, because they give a shit about the gamers.

I'm incredibly excited for this. I actually wasn't even expecting an Uncharted 4 trailer for some reason. Not sure why. Amazing end to the show.

Im liking the darker tone. I want some finality to the series. I hope they really meant "One last time". Make this a dark, heartwrenching end to this awesome series. Dont drag it out like MGS.

? The point of a teaser is precisely to set the tone, to communicate the vision of a game. They are going in a darker direction here.

And like I said earlier, the trailer really doesn't seem any darker than the UC2 teaser. I feel like people are just reading too much into it because of all the rumors about Amy's departure.

I'm really concerned about Druckman's ego and Naughty Dog getting it's head up it's own ass after TLOU. Sure hope the inevitable gritty tone doesn't turn into a cringe fest.

Like, really dude? There's no need to personally slander the guy. GTFO of here with that shit.

I swear if Elena dies in this game :__:

Least Nate was still wearing his wedding ring...

Maybe he is wearing it because she died o.0

And also the nate sully convo sounded really ominous. If someone is to die its either him or he is already dead and nate is going one one final outing to fulfill a promise.

Geez, if I didn't know any better I'd say they're going all in with the newfound grimdark, gritty, mature tone here. That's a bleak, foreboding image. I hope ND don't forgo the lighthearted nature and humour associated with Uncharted for something considerably more serious, because one of the franchise's biggest delights is the constant laughs.
While I enjoy the humor of previous Uncharted, I'd like the game to be a bit more serious. I think it would be a refreshing change to the Indiana Jones format.

Just FYI, when Balestra had a french masterclass last year, he mentioned that more than ever, they were striving to suppress differences between "in engine pre rendered" and gameplay, to make smooth transitions.

Something The Order is already doing. As well as Infamous Second Son.

So i'm not doubting for a second that ND will do it too.

I find that extremely interesting you would say that considering Last of Us ran at an average of 24-28 FPS... and I saw this as someone who would blindly buy the next 5 ND games because they've earned that trust.

Yeah, that was different. I really hope the tone of the game doesn't change that much. I like this series being lighthearted.
Yeah exactly. This series can handle drama fine, like Elena in the explosion in 2 or Nate's hallucination in 3, but I hope that the tone of the series is consistent here.

PS4 is a great machine and Naughty Dog are integrated by high skilled geniuses, but seriously guys, do you expect that CG quality in a 1080p/60fps title? Really?

I found it very naive, even more if you have played The Last of Us and watched the difference between ingame and in-engine cinematics.

K, been thinking more about the chances of the teaser being actually real time cause some one brought up the Order's initial showing, which claimed it was inengine and in fact was real time. This is possible spoilers for those who want to know nothing of the TLOU, but this part has been shown in many of the game's trailers, and it has nothing important in regards to the story.

So, there is a very distinct part in TLoU where Joel and Ellie drive along listening to Hank Williams and they are ambushed. Short story short, at one point during this part Joel is getting pushed into a broken piece of glass by a bandit. This is a low quality screen shot, but the in-game while playing is much much much higher quality, but this is just for example.

Now during this part, Joel's facial details seem to be markedly improved over where they normally are in normal gameplay. This is indicated by the big framerate dip during this section. The reasoning for this is obviously because it's such a close shot. BUT, this section is actually a QTE, and is real-time.

Now, if they can get Joel's face looking that good on ps3 at like 25~ fps, then I can somewhat believe that the teaser was realtime, or at the very least the actual gameplay will look similar to the teaser.

Basically, we know Drake is into some dumb shit presumably because of poor decision making and he's going to drag everyone else back into said dumb shit. Also, pirates.

Can't. Fucking. Wait.

That's some good info right there. Hopefully they do it.

There's something about MGSV, Batman and Uncharted's trailers so close in proximity to each other ( and all of them were dark ) that really made it feel like each game was going to deliver the end of them all.

I don't see the big deal. There's four games from the previous gen where you can compare in-engine scenes vs. game play as far as rendering bugs, precision, etc. ND's work has been critically acclaimed when it comes to tech. You've got subjective awards from the press, community and less subjective analysis by Digital Foundry where they basically fall over themselves to praise ND's tech achievements. Check all those articles they've put out. These folks aren't scrubs or uniquely deceptive with their teasers.

When call this little snippet "in-engine" I guess they are. Maybe the game will look as good, maybe it won't, but I do believe it's disingenous that they keep doing the same thing.
I don't think they'll be able to have this image quality at least. This must be supersampled as it looks practically perfect. Although there's some minor shader/specular aliasing.

Not sure if that is real in-game footage especially if it should run at 1080p/60. Nevertheless it looks absolutely FANTASTIC. This might be the system seller for me.

That 60 fps trailer made my eyes teary. There is no way the PS4 is capable of that. Sure, stuff like AI and all sorts of normal real time gamey stuff is missing, but it's still very impressive.

Look how he pressed the sand with his wet forearm and thus making the pressured sand area wet too. Better dream to get such details even in movies, let alone games.

Look at how his nose and mouth are dipping water strings so realistically.

Lol I noticed sth else, the fly even rubs her fore legs together like in real life. Sth alone that would surrender CGI movie makers

IDK... Sony could be passing around that secret sauce of an AA solution that they used on Infamous. Plus we haven't really seen an exclusive linear game on PS4 that I can think of that would really be able to focus the power of the hardware instead of using it for scale like in open world games.

I hadn't even considered the image quality. Yeah it's impossible that this is real-time.

However, if the trailer is indicative of asset quality at least, I have to wonder what the hell is the budget for this game. It's really Hollywood animated CGI level.

We'll see. I don't think they would put 60fps out there if they couldn't reach the fidelity in that trailer.

It's all speculation and I'm always amused at everyone being an authority and throwing their armchair programming knowledge around (myself included). Next year will give us a firm idea of what these consoles can do.
