Grand Theft Auto V - Coming for PS4, Xbox One and PC this Fall - Trailer

Some asshole was talking shit to me the other day saying that there would not be any GTA V ports to PC, XB1 or PS4 when I told him I was waiting to play it on PC because of mods. Wish I could remember who it was so I could spoon feed him his words.

The country looks beautiful. I was blown away by the long-ass grass. And holy shit @ hammer head sharks.

This will make up for there being only 1 other GTA on the current gen.

They still chose to launch on last gen consoles though.

Of course, because there are 70 bazillion consoles out there. They had to do it or wait another 5 years for the install base to grow.

This way we got to play the game (which was still great despite the technical downsides), and now we can double dip on PC and play it with all the bells and whistles.

I don't care if nobody believes me when I say this but those two clips impressed me the most of anything I've seen out of E3 2014 so far.

That's just fucking gorgeous with the traffic density.

I'd be fine with native 1080p and framerate absolutely locked at 30 FPS on PS4.

Witcher 3 and Batman Arkham Knght would like to have a word with you.

But yes, GTA 5 remastered looked great but the game is clearly held back due to old gen consoles. Whereas Witcher and Batman are shaping up to be real next gen games.

Kind of scummy how Sony implied it was a exclusive by saying you could transfer your save data from X360. Andrew House rubs me the wrong way. He sounds like a weasel.

Anyway, probably pick this up for X1 or PS4. I ended up just watching my roommate play through the game and barely touched it myself.

Not mentioning Microsoft at their own conference. Sony blowny are just pure scum.

Well it was an awkward announcement but I'm glad it's finally happening.

Why are people so concerned about hackers on PC though? I would imagine console anti-cheat mechanisms aren't as robust as on PC, assuming Rockstar decides to go with VAC.

even if i build a pc with a 780 the game wont run at 60 ? 60 fps is the only reason i would rebuy this game.

The GPU isn't the only thing that dictates performance. Big open world games like this that run a lot of physics and background simulations and have tons of asset streaming are heavily CPU-bound and almost never run at a locked 60 fps regardless of how powerful the computer is because that's not what the engine is optimized for. Just look at GTAIV as an example. A game that was build for weird PowerPC CPUs and then ported to x86 (by a company that has a poor track record porting to x86 CPUs) is not going to run at super high framerates.

I was very impressed too, more so than with most games they showed.

Has the resolution and framerate been confirmed?

Mmm, much like a lot of people think having a kick ass video card will run ArmA at max settings, you also need a very good CPU to calculate everything happening in the background.

I will break my no more than 20 bucks on digital games rule for this. I also wont transfer my 360 save to pc, fresh start from the beginning!

Welcome to E3 and gaming in general. He only said it's coming to PS4. Nothing about exclusivity.

If Remote play runs at a stable 30FPS, I'll be pretty ecstatic. A lot of relaxing drives without ever leaving my bed. I wonder how they'll handle the controls- L/R to aim/shoot, also to accelerate/aim out the window?

The possibilities! Remastered goodness!

I'll double dip since I sold my 360 before beating this game. Preferably I'll buy it for PC, but if it's console only then I'll still grab it for PS4.

This game NEEDED it.

One of the best games ever made, but ran like dogshit and looked just as bad on PS3/360. With a better framerate and resolution this will be the definitive version.

Rockstar were held back by last gen consoles.
They already stated in interviews they wanted to focus 100% on making the best possible game for the PS360 generation. The same thing happened with San Andreas and PS2.

Whatever hypothetical vision that is unfulfilled by the PS360, you can only see in GTA6.

Exactly. It always makes me laugh when people say they're going to run games like this at 60+ fps just because they have a good GPU. Then they complain and call the game unoptimized trash after seeing their GPU usage when in reality it's just the nature of games like this.

Who knows, maybe R* has made some kind of breakthrough in optimizing their engine for PC but I highly doubt it.

I didn't make it through the game on 360 but I might give it another shot once I get a ps4. we'll see how big an upgrade it really is. Based on the trailer it looks pretty slick.

could you get 60 fps with a 4960x ? i have the money i just want to be able to run this game at a solid 60 frames at 1440p.

I am so pleased R* have implemented a system to move online data forward. That move has essentially ensured I will triple dip. I've Platinumed the PS3 version already, I'll buy the PC version for the world mods a few months after release and the PS4 version day 1 for GTA:O (currently level 143).

GTA:O is going to be carnage, I feel a tiny bit sorry for brand new owners but there are at least a few of us who won't just shoot them on sight I suppose.

I haven't had time to read the whole thread yet so please excuse if these have already be discussed but do we know if there is going to be a player count increase in free roam and if user created content will also be rolled forward?

Further, they mentioned transferring saves X360/PS3 to PS4, I presume the same will be true for the XB1 version as well (X360/PS3 to XB1)?

Yay cannot wait, omfg awesome. Oh wait, I played that game 9 month ago, don't care how better it would look on my PC or future PS4... It's not like I'm starving.

Yeah looks like they used that more power on the environment density and that is a great thing.

what? Everyone does that. Why would you talk about availability on other platforms?

- "Exclusively on Playstation 4" = only on PS4
- "Exclusive console debut on PS4" = timed exclusive, possibly a few days/weeks, who knows
- "Exclusive content to PS4" = some character/weapon bollocks unique to PS4
- "Coming to PS4" (like GTAV) = released at the same time as other platforms

The game already had some good density in traffic, I remember (rare) rushour situations on the highway. youtube video in the new trailer it looks higher definitely but I wouldn't put my hand in the fire for saying the game never had those moments. Some things were rarely seen in that game even if you've played it for hundreds of hours.

Also single player? That would be awesome? I can't play the game anymore on 360 because the digital copy seems to be having problems with the save games from the retail version I once had and keeps restarting itself after like 5 minutes of playing. :(

What's the term for an console exclusive?

True! It's going in both directions in the trailers. There looked like plenty of civs around when Franklin showed up in the trailer.

If R* have had an emphasis on anything this past 6 years it's been environment. It will be nice to see them have put some of the extra power into the density of the city.

Do I double dip on PC or not... After GTA IV being shite when it first came out on there I'll wait to hear impressions but hopefully they don't make that mistake again.

Yep. The Los Santos we deserve.
