E3 2014 | Nintendo Digital Event

This made me want to buy a wii u even more than I wanted before, and at the same time made me think about selling the 3DS by year's end, if no new games of my interest are announced. Really shocked by how the console went downhill: almost no 3rd party support(both indies and "aaa") and 1st party support seems to be gone as well(Kirby and Mario vs DK should've totally been 3DS games).

Man, Reggie said the IGN interview there more things to come in the next few days. I can't wait.

Yeah, I think I remember one schedule listing a reveal on Wed and Thurs. So awesome. Really hoping MH4U Wii U gets announced this week.

Just imagine what the creative minds of Nintendo Softworks could bring up, if they actually had quality consoles with a proper infrastructure to work with.

I'm not port-begging or anything, I don't want to play any Nintendo games at the moment, I just watched the Direct to see what the future held for the Big N, and apparently their holding on to the past with the only fresh breeze being Splatoon coming out next year. IMHO, they were better off just stopping the HOME console business and moving on. They can still produce handhelds, as they're actually quite good in that regard, and could even broaden their market share by going third-party for home consoles. Have a home console game like Zelda, which is not too well know amongst the masses, get introduced to the mainstream that are playing on PS4 and Xbox One, and make them buy your exclusive portable console to keep the experience going, on the go. So yeah, this direct just further confirmed my opinion that Ninty should go Thirdy.

Low poly and bad textures saved by a toon shader... meh.

Good god, it starts again...

Agree it isn't Crytek-level visuals, but fuck, since when do we start dismissing a game that will CLEARLY be fun and highly enjoyable due to the fact that the visuals aren't 100% perfect, WTF?!?!?

Just realized, no FE X SMT. I guess thats understandable, sounds like something they would reveal near TGS time.

Reggie said after the Direct aired that they'll continue to do announcements and revealings everyday the rest of E3 week (tonight during the developer roundtables, tomorrow, and Thursday). It not being on the Direct doesn't necessarily mean it won't be there period, especially with Atlus being there.

The gameplay and overall look and feel give me that impression.

Have you actually played an LBP game?

So inane you posted it twice for attention.

Really cool showing all around, I especially loved all the smaller scope games they showed like Captain Toad, Splatoon, Mario Maker etc., these kind of games were missing from the picture. We all new that the heavy hitters would come, them showing those smaller titles as well feels like a cherry on top.

Was a bit disappointed as I was expecting a sort of "available NOW" announcement for some freeLC or DLC, We got that discount at least, which I have yet to see in the eShop.

I am looking forward to a thread that recaps what is coming Sep-Dec 2014 for WiiU.

Also, they showed next to nothing for 3DS, I am expecting most of the announcements left to be made to be about 3DS.

>Not port-begging

Right.

We'll just skip over the fact that there was in fact barely anything announced for 3DS in the Digital Event (not a Direct).

Got to say, the special effects during that Reggie/Iwata fight preluding the announcement of Miis in Smash were ridiculously good. Got to wonder how much money they spent on that, it looked better than the fight scenes in many fantasy movies. I was seriously impressed.

See, this is why I give the edge to Sony. All conferences had the same 2014 schedule (2 big exclusive games). People moan about CG Uncharted when we got CG Zelda. I liked what we got out of the conference, but Yarn Yoshi went on for way too long and we knew about most of the games coming. Overall, 2014 was pretty week. That being said, E3 2015 is going to be awesome!

Tha field wasnt CG
Pretty sure Aonuma said it was in game

You could say the same thing about Sony and Microsoft and claim that everyone should just develop for PC instead. No matter how you twist it, what you're doing is the same as port-begging but on a massive scale.

And I don't know if it's that smart to claim that Zelda isn't known by the mainstream.

Keep in mind that Nintendo still has a couple of unrevealed games ready to be revealed in the coming hours/days.

Posting it in spoilers doesn't make it any less asinine.

My rankings:

Microsoft: B
Didn't do anything but show tons of games. Announced a reboot of a totally awesome niche game (Phantom Dust) and a bunch of other stuff. The only negatives in my book were the CG videos being used instead of game play near the end and that damn Conker troll.

Sony: D+
Had a great start but slowly devolved into irrelevant comic books, movies, services, etc. Had some awesome looking games though. Uncharted 4 in particular was stunning.

Nintendo: C
Showed off a bunch of games, but didn't really announce much new. We already knew what was coming apart from Splatoon, that Toad game, Mario Maker (technically it wasn't announced), and Canvas Curse 2. Problem is all but one of those games seems to be a legitimately big production. Zelda looks good, but the overall game line up seems like it'll be empty without any third party support. I wasn't a fan of how they basically trolled their fans though with Mother 3 and Star Fox. It's like they know what fans want, yet just refuse to give it to them.

Also, the lack of 3DS was shocking. The future line up is basically empty beyond Pokemon ORAS and Smash. How are they going to reach their sales goals when they have such a sparse line up?

Everyone is entitled their opinion so I'll give you that much. I just don't understand why many people (not referring to you specifically) hope for Nintendo to go 3rd party. As of last night, my girl and I decided that the PS4 would be the console of choice for us next due to their great conference yesterday. At the same time, I HATE that Sunset Overdrive is exclusive to XBone but I'm not going to hope and pray for that platform to disappear so that particular XBone exclusives can come to my PS4 or Wii U, it just doesn't make sense.

It may end up that I will never own an XBone this generation, but I still respect the platform. I guess I'm more of a "games" kind of guy rather than a "platform" kind of guy. It just so happens that the last few gens both Playstation and Nintendo have had the best exclusives for my own personal taste.

I honestly hope to be able to own ALL THREE platforms this gen, just waiting on Microsoft to deliver more exclusives that pull me in.

Let's have a great 8th gen EVERYONE!!!

Yes, you are port-begging.
