E3 2014 Super Smash Bros Impressions (Best Buy Smashfest / Invitational)

That was sooooo great. But with all those fans watching you reveal, reactions would've been great. All we got was Smash Run but we knew about that already, lol.

Maybe they pussied out because they were afraid the fans wouldn't like whoever they showed.

But honestly that crowd would've loved anything.

I think they wanted to play it safe in case this tournament failed or something.

Dumb decision but it seems like a Nintendo thing to do.

This made my day tbh, didn't expect it to be so fun. I'm kinda sad there was no reveal but this plus the treehouse and zelda made Nintendo the winner of e3 for me by a long shot.

Just so everyone knows, these roundtable discussions arent streamed but usually a video is uploaded of it afterwards

A live blog is your only source of info

Awesome tourrament and from what I saw great digital event. I get the feeling there is one faction of Nintendo that is doing as much fan service as possible and is all about the hype, and another that thinks long developer segments about picking out yarn are the best. The latter won the debate about and doing a reveal at a dev round table instead of at a tournament. Also - Zero Suit, best Smash in the game? Also also - wtf, you do a new spaceship firing final smash, and it is not fox's?

Bean man, between these and your previous MK8 coverage, you're a freaking saint!

Kirby Guy should have gone all in at the end. Of course, he would have less of a chance in Sudden Death. Even if he would have punished him, he sill was very low on percentage, there was nothing to lose!

Thank ye kindly sir!

Don't really understand the hate for this guy. He is a good talker. At least I think he does his job well, doritogate or not.
But... he didn't do a very good job this time. Vanished instantly when he stopped talking, pretended to have watched the Miyamoto event when he clearly hadn't, exhibited extremely little interest in the event itself by having to be reigned in by the people in charge because he forgot the freaking semi finals and an after-fight vote.

I'm not saying he did a shitty job. I'm saying he did the bare minimum of what was asked of him. He was probably zonked out after a long day of running around and doing his job, but his performance was a bit lacking.

Still, was an awfully fun event. I could get used to these kinda things at E3.

Man the whole event went as smooth as butter. The matches were intense, the players were good sports, the announcers were charismatic and energetic and not a single bug or technical issue! Geoff wasn't that bad either. That's right I said it! Not THAT bad! I had low expectations but still :P

The celebrity playing Bowser looked to have such a similar play style as me for that character. That Bowser stomp haha

Awesome event, I'm really looking forward to see another one the next year. The crowd was insane.

But what a wasted opportunity for a big character reveal.

but doing so he became extremely repetitive and predictable...scarf guy was able to handle him quite well because of that,he knew what moves he was not going to pull off..the only time he pulled out the side b hammer he got a KO if i remember correctly

He did it 3 times and only landed it once, the other 2 times he ate damage for it. Just throwing out moves to be unpredictable is a horrible strategy if you know there is huge risk attached to it. When would he use brick? You can block it easily on reaction and Kirby would be eating a lot of damage on recovery. ZSS also outranged Kirby's inhale and when he does catch her all he gets is her paralyzer which doesn't help that much.

Anyways HBox played well and actually would have won by standard tournament rules. It actually seemed like he had to work harder to move in because he loses out on range and mobility but he did great shield grabs to work his way in. It's just that sadly his Kirby couldn't catch up to ZSS' mobility to finish it off.

That was some trashy boo'ing throughout ZSS' run. They should feel embarrassed.

Surprise of the show: 3 out of the 4 celebrities played very well (Pretty Little Liars guy, Zelda Williams, and Nickelodeon Girl). PLL guy (Keegan Allen) is already hot but now he's shown he's also very competent with Bowser.

Man, that Invitational was awesome. So many great moments.

Its not often you see a bunch of pro players battle each other with items and Final Smashes enabled on banned stages in a venue as big as that with Sakurai present.

i noticed something that was really cool that korean dj did in the megaman final smash vid

i think he ran into it on purpose to generate that hype ( i wish he won or had gone farther than he did seems like a super cool bro)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZszrtCIDxU

you can see he totally respected people wanting that fs and was giving the megaman player a chance at getting it (such a bro)
