Wait, is this not coming to Vita?
What makes Type-0 so special?

Port-begging:The thread.

Complaining and claiming some sort of entitlement is not really "dealing".

Meh. As per reality the desire for profit is the reason this (or anything for that matter) is releasing anywhere. As the PR statement from S-E stated, port-begging is the reason that this game is now (well in 2015 or 2016) released in the West.
It's good.
You should still check it out.
IMO, Type-0 has the better written story out of FNC.
How so?
How so?
No, Sony failing to sell the Vita enough to create an ecosystem that warrants SE's support is shitty. You have to admit that SE doing a HD remaster of a PSP game that was demanded by Vita fans for so long, only to turn around and release it on PS4/XBO and no mention of the Vita at all, is kinda shitty.
How so?
Even Nintendo is having trouble selling 3DS.No, Sony failing to sell the Vita enough to create an ecosystem that warrants SE's support is shitty.
You would be right, except for the fact that Type-0 was never released in the west, so SQEX is not bound by the rules that apply to re-releases.
And it is a quite extensive FF title for what I read/hear, so I don't see any problem in paying a full price for it.
At no cost? Yeeeeeeeeeeah, no. There's a lot more to it than that. The act of adding the text into the game is a lot of work in itself, not to even mention there might be other hurdles (maybe the PS4/Xbone versions aren't 1:1 with the PSP version, maybe they don't have as much space on the PSP's screen for text, which might cause some additional work to rework the text to fit somehow, the quality of the soundfiles for the VAs needs to be reworked if/when they don't fit the UMDs in the same quality as they would be in the PS4Bone version etc.), not to even mention they have to do proper QA to make certain that them tinkering with the game hasn't broken anything. The text being translated is only one part of the work that goes into localizations. The fuck you're talking about? They are doing a HD remaster, which cost A LOT MORE than having then just translate/localize the game and put it online. In fact, they could easily simply use the translation on the PSP version that they are using as the base and put it on the PSN store, if they wanted, with no cost.
People can feel miffed that they were temporarily led to think it was on the Vita. That's on the PS Blog and overexcited-as-always Shahid, though.Well, this is a different situation that most port begs. The 'grassroots' campaign to get this game here was mainly by people wanting it on Vita, and then the announcement initially said Vita. It's understandable why some people feel a bit aggrieved.
Surprised it's not coming to PC as well.
What is their major malfunction god damn.On Vita... well, Sony tried/is trying to get SE to do it but SE is so stubborn.
I've never played a final fantasy, I'm 20. For some reason however I'm really hype for this and 15. Hopefully they will be good starting points.
But still. Just because someone thought the norm should be $60, it doesn't mean that they all do. I'm sure some of the PS2 HD titles had work done. Heck, KH was done from the ground up due to the missing remasters. Those were still $40.
It's more gritty FF. There's blood, death, war & politics all the while still having the standard FF elements----chocobos, world map, airship.

The story is really good too IMO, a bit confusing at first and really bloody and dark for a FF game.
The grassroots "campaign" is far bigger than just Vita people. All sorts of Final Fantasy fans have been demanding/asking/begging/crying for Square Enix to release Type-0 in English(/other languages) and it didn't start or end with #JRPGVita, nor was JRPGVita confined to just Vita people. A lot of people just want to see this being localized and they signed their name on any & every petition hoping maybe that would be the thing that would finally make Square Enix do some kind of localization (but not being especially emotionally tied to it being a Vita release). The amount of demand SQEX has gotten has just been building over the years from all kinds of sources, not just from Vita people.Well, this is a different situation that most port begs. The 'grassroots' campaign to get this game here was mainly by people wanting it on Vita, and then the announcement initially said Vita. It's understandable why some people feel a bit aggrieved.
Yeah that is of course the real reason, but Tabata had to sugarcoat it in the press release as doing this "for the fans".People can feel miffed that they were temporarily led to think it was on the Vita. That's on the PS Blog and overexcited-as-always Shahid, though.
But I think people are fooling themselves if they think this release is about appeasing any "grassroots campaign." Square Enix's Japanese side has been in development hell for over a generation. This is ultiately something to fill out their release schedule until FFXV in like 2016 and Kingdom Hearts III in 20forever.
You should still check it out.

I dunno if I'd call it bigger. The towns, if you can even call them that, are generally really bland and tiny. I think LR is meatier in terms of setting and exploration, though Type-0 has a much grander plot. It's too bad SE most likely won't add to the towns and other locales in the HD version. The game is just so ambitious and really should have initially been a console experience. The PSP just doesn't do its ideas and world any justice. And if reviews are anything to go by, this Type-0 is a much larger game than, say, Lightning Returns, and a much better game than either FFXIII and FFXIII-2, and people paid $60 for those on release...
How so?
FNC includes the XIII games and FFXV. The XIII games are considered one of the worse trilogy ever made and FFXV isn't out yet to be judged. So can you explain how good the story is to let's say FFVII or FFVI or FFX or FFIX?
YAAAAAAY its about damn time, but god damn they really hate the Vita
I disagree with the story part, but it may be because i like reading up on the lore. I feel that without reading the book , you will be like a normal person in Type 0 just trying to live your life during a war in a world where event happens that you do not fully understand. It's okay overall, nothing spectacular.
67 on mk2, which is basically the Japanese equivalent of Metacritic's users score. mk2 scores are usually on the low end, so that's probably closer to a 7 or 8.
My quick opinion:
- The story is a mess and doesn't make sense if you don't read the huge encyclopedia thing. Many events happen off-screen or happen "just because".
- The characters are underdeveloped, especially Class 0, the supposed "main" characters.
- The last dungeon and the events leading to it are a catastrophe. Worst last boss ever. I'm still wondering what they were thinking?
There is no Vita hate, they just want to sell the game on a platform that people own.
Tabata is the creative type, so he probably really DOES want to push the localization so that as many people can enjoy his & his team's hard work as possible, but ultimately it's his superiors that hold all the power and if they don't think it's going to be profitable, then they won't give Tabata the green light to take it forward. Tabata can try pushing harder and make the idea seem more lucrative, but yeah, this does also serve a bigger purpose of filling up their empty release calendar in 2015 and possibly bringing some $$$ in their way and helping the JRPG audience to move towards PS4 & Xbone for future SQEX releases.Yeah that is of course the real reason, but Tabata had to sugarcoat it in the press release as doing this "for the fans".
They also probably want to leave the PS360 generation behind ASAP and as this won't be releasing until the second half of 2015 quite likely, it's better to try to move the audience to the newer machines that will house their projects in 2015 and beyond.Like PS3 and XBOX360?

My quick opinion:
+ Fun battle system, at least for the first few hours. Some decent challenge.
+ Good looking for a PSP game.
+ A world to explore, some optional dungeons.
+/- Definitively heavier than your usual FF in term of atmosphere and themes.
- It was too ambitious for its own good and ended up incomplete.
- Leveling PC is a pain.
- The story is a mess and doesn't make sense if you don't read the huge encyclopedia thing. Many events happen off-screen or happen "just because".
- The world and towns are boring and bland. Invisible walls everywhere.
- The characters are underdeveloped, especially Class 0, the supposed "main" characters.
- The last dungeon and the events leading to it are a catastrophe. Worst last boss ever. I'm still wondering what they were thinking?
