As a non-Xeno___ fan, after not being super impressed by the Nintendo Direct, I decided to give the Nintendo Treehouse video a go. So here are my impressions, excluding graphics because of how shit the videos all seem to be and .
What I like (aka why I'm interested in this game):
-The open world
-The scifi setting
-Mecha
-Guns in a JRPG
-The story seems accessible for new comers (based on statements at the beginning of the video) and could be really cool.
Mixed:
-Grinding. I don't have as much time to devote to games as I used to, so grinding is a big warning flag for me.
-The multilayer menus give me bad Mass Effect 1 vibes because of how much time I wasted on doing things in the menus instead of actually playing the games.
-Swords being a thing in this setting. You've either got to pull the setting more toward science fantasy or show that swords are insanely awesome for me to completely buy people using them in a future with guns and mecha.
What I Didn't Like:
-The guns look retardedly huge, even accounting for the camera. I thought Elma's guns were a jetpack until I realized she was dual wielding them in combat, which should be impossible, because the things have more mass than her arms.
-The guns still sound pretty weak, although that might be due to them being low level stuff.
-Enemy reactions to being hit in combat are still pretty janky. If you're going to have the player move about and fight in real time, it should feel like the enemies are reacting to what I'm doing instead of them pivoting in random directions and being barely aggressive unless I'm up close (although that might due to difficulty settings).
Right now I feel like Xenoblade Chronicles X would wind up like Mass Effect 1 for me - a game where I kinda like it in spite of its technical and gameplay flaws, but I'd like it way more with better gameplay and way more concise implementation of the RPG elements.
Lol wait for more footage.I watched the live demo for Gamestop. It looks so severely graphically downgraded from the reveal. What happened?
I like speculation.
X or Cross could be religious symbolism. There were a few references to 'gods' in the trailer- 'beyond the logos'... 'destiny'...
"A vessel with which to meet our Lord"
We're going back to Xenogears roots here. Christianity is gonna come under fire.
Will other planets be involved you think? Since they crash land on an alien planet, the aliensare probably not from there, so.that blew up Earth
I guess if they have a character creator already it's too late for them to go back and tweak some of the faces.
Awww. I wish they could have maybe done a bit more work on those.

this definitely feels like some kind of reimagining of the xenoverse. being forced to abandon earth and search for a new home, "a vessel with which to meet our lord has come to me"...all of this fits the old mythology rather nicely. i think the details will obviously differ with maybe some of the xenoblade worldview mixed in.
All of this is really intriguing for an old xeno-fanboy like me....![]()
I haven't had a chance to watch the streams and I'm just on my phone so my full thoughts will come later.I actually don't think the story is related to Xenoblade itself. I think they just chose that name because it has similar gameplay and easier to market (already a Xenoblade brand). Just a guess, anyways. I saw nothing in the story trailer that made me think "Oh, this will be in Xenoblade's world" EXCEPT the Nopon, but... Hmm. I dunno, the Nopon is really the only thing making me want to link the stories at all.
That trailer deflated my hype by 500% :/
I don't know why they decided to have a trailer like this. The story's going to suck. That's pretty much inevitable. Not expecting anything from the characters either (and lol @ those faces).
Last year's trailer did it right.
I bet this cut-scene looks better in the day or at sunset.

Definitely, makes this look all the more interesting to me.And with the story details that we now know....this is easily, EASILY a re-imagining of Episode I.
oh I can't freaking wait. Silly as it sounds, Xenogears and Xenosaga both got me interested in the origins of religions and things like that (Xenosaga also inspired me to spend like, a week learning about Nietzsche. I'm weird, I guess.)
God. I can't wait.
Just hit me that is the same scene from the trailer.I bet this cut-scene looks better in the day or at sunset.

Already an improvement, it's harder to see at night.
Persona 3 did this for me.
But yeah, this is the first time in a while I've been excited about a game.

Any word or confirmation of multiplayer?! Man, I just remember all of the dialogue boxes in the original trailer

God I am not digging the battle system. Clunky as hell
I can't speak for everyone else but I thought it was quite obvious this wouldn't land this year. One thing I don't understand...
Where's the rage from the delay to 2015?

I've been putting people who predicted a 2014 release onto my "crazy as fuck" list
it was never gonna happen.
I'm actually really interested in that wolf girl.
Wonder if she's playable?
I haven't looked over Xenogears / saga lore for a while, but was "Episode I" supposed to cover the original exodus from Earth to outer space? I guess that'd make sense since apparently the Earth is completely destroyed here and everyone has to leave on arks, etc.
During the Treehouse livestream one of the staff members noted that there'd be references to things not only in Xenoblade but also to things "even further back" than the Wii game, dating to "the series' origins" that fans of the series would appreciate - I'm assuming he's referring to Xenogears / saga (he seemed to be treating Xeno- as one long series spanning the PS1/PS2 to the Wii).
Episode I
Era of Interplanetary War
15,000 years before the story, humankind set out from earth and discovered a hospitable planet in the Archer constellation M24. It became known here after as "Neo-Jerusalem" and once again, humans headed for the abyss of space. As a result, humanity enlarged the circle of living things to encompass almost the entire galaxy approximately 10,000 years ago...
At the same time, the interplanetary war which had broken out intensified. The universe became the stage for the devastation caused by the winds of war.
The Deus System which appears in the story was developed in this era but besides this phenomenon, this episode remains shrouded in mystery.
Lost Jerusalem
Lost Jerusalem was the name given to Earth in T.C. 0016. After the Immigrant Fleet left Lost Jerusalem, the planet suddenly vanished. Since the disappearance of Lost Jerusalem, the Galaxy Federation has moved its capital four times. The Ormus cult considers Lost Jerusalem to be a holy place, due to its history with the Zohar. There have been dozens of attempts to discover the ancient human capital. In the Proto Merkabah superfacility, there is a holographic starmap; chaos comments on a large "uncharted" hole where Lost Jerusalem was supposedly located.
A trailer for Episode III shows Shion finding herself on a portion of Lost Jerusalem's land in a ruined temple area. This portion is in fact Rennes-le-Château, which has been separated from Lost Jerusalem. At this time, Lost Jerusalem is revealed as the Planet Earth. Which is the Floating Landmass during game play
At the end of Episode III, after the credits, KOS-MOS' body is seen drifting towards the planet. This is where the series comes to a closure. Supposedly, the planet that KOS-MOS drifts to is Lost Jerusalem. And that Humanity had to start another Human Race and civilization on Lost Jerusalem.
Fifth Jerusalem
Fifth Jerusalem is the current capital planet of the Galaxy Federation, and seat of the central legislative judicial, and administrative agencies. The headquarters of the S.O.C.E. is also located here. As the name suggests, it is the fifth capital of the Galaxy Federation after Lost Jerusalem. Fifth Jerusalem also encompasses a large administrative space-station in orbit tethered to the planet by a large-scall space elevator. The station serves as a spaceport and as an administration center.

4751 T.C. Researchers compete to realize Phenomenon Phase Shift, using MAM as its core. This is the beginning of Project Zohar.
4752 T.C. Regional conflict intensifies.
4765 T.C. An accident during work on Project Zohar causes the planet on which it was being conducted to be destroyed. MAM was recovered drifting in space.
4766 T.C. Project Zohar is nearing completion as researchers work on the Kadamony Control System. The interstellar war is reaching its climax. The Deus Weapon system is developed.
4767 T.C. On a satellite orbiting colony planet Miktam 04 Beta, MAM, now also known as the Zohar, is installed as Deus's main power source. Three months later experiments on the Deus System causes it to go out of control, and it invades the nearby planet, resulting in unnumbered casualties. The military manages to subdue Deus and put it in a state of suspended animation. Deus is dismantled, and the Interstellar Space Cruiser Eldridge is requisitioned to transport Deus to another planet, along with 120 million workers, survivors, and colonists.
4767 T.C. Despite its state of suspended animation, Deus activates during its transfer, and using the Zohar, hacks into Eldridge's mainframe, also known as artificial intelligence Raziel. Captain of the Eldridge, Shigeyoshi Inoue, calls for a complete evacuation, but Deus destroys the evacuation pods using Eldridge's weapons. Captain Inoue initiates Eldridge's self destruct system. The Eldridge breaks apart and crashes into a nearby planet. The part of the Eldridge containing Deus and the Zohar crashes into an ocean, but Kadomony lands separately on the coast.
0000 N.E. Kadomony's central system, Persona, uses program Elhaym, and starts System HAWWA. The planet's first intelligent beings are created: Cain and the Gazel Ministry, and Elhaym and Miang as supervisors. Abel, the sole survivor of the Eldridge's crash, is discovered. Cain uses Kadomony to create normal human beings to populate the planet. A new era (N.E.) begins.
0010 N.E. The world's population begin to worship Cain as a god. Abel rebels against the worship of Cain. Cain comes to think of Abel as a hinderance.
0011 N.E. Cain plans to eradicate Abel. Elhaym tries to protect Abel, but both are killed by Cain. Miang becomes the sole supervisor.

9999-???? N.E. The game's (Xenogears Episode V) events.
Just finished watching the Treehouse presentation. What's with this game? They mention that it is a spiritual successor. Was this originally designed as a 3rd Person Turned Based Shooter MMO set in the Xenoblade world? This is not at all what I was expecting. - Really disappointed with what they have shown this e3.
