It's more gritty FF. There's blood, death, war & politics all the while still having the standard FF elements----chocobos, world map, airship.

Like PS3 and XBOX360?
My guess is since Sony and MS are winding down support on PS3/360 they probably aren't too keen on developers announcing new games for those platforms. Were there any games at E3 announced for PS3/360 (I doubt it, but if there were I'd really like to hear about them)?
What probably happened is, PSP was dead by the time they were going to do the translation, since the game came out fairly late. They probably started work on moving it to Vita, but the Vita was stillborn, so then decided to move it to a platform that still has support, PS3 has already been cut off by Sony, so PS4/One were the only option left. Plus it probably helps them buy time for XV which if it flops would cause a lot more grief for SE than if this game flops.
All I know is that this announcement is going to push XV further.I hope tomorrow gives us some more concrete news and ends the speculation. I want to know if the title has even started or is almost done. The way the director says the translation is underway seems to indicate development was far along.
Little Big Planet 3 is crossgen.
Though it was probably a SE decision. If it release second half of 2015 then it makes sense. Like at least 2.5 Remix comes out this year.
It's okay overall, nothing spectacular.
67 on mk2, which is basically the Japanese equivalent of Metacritic's users score. mk2 scores are usually on the low end, so that's probably closer to a 7 or 8.
My quick opinion:
- It was too ambitious for its own good and ended up incomplete.
- Leveling PC is a pain.
- The story is a mess and doesn't make sense if you don't read the huge encyclopedia thing. Many events happen off-screen or happen "just because".
- The world and towns are boring and bland. Invisible walls everywhere.
- The characters are underdeveloped, especially Class 0, the supposed "main" characters.
- The last dungeon and the events leading to it are a catastrophe. Worst last boss ever. I'm still wondering what they were thinking?
1st 10mins is brutal. Makes you wonder what the big deal with Aeris was.
Well...FF7 lets you know Aerith, go into her home & date her. That's why it was a such huge deal back then, even now tbh.
Type-0/Agito, Lightning Saga, and XV are under the FNC banner.
They all share the same Gods/Goddess, etc..
It's cute that you think people played FF2. With the number of people who think that FF4 was the first game to even have a story, it's clear that most did not. What about Josef?

Gods and Goddess as in the concept of Fal'cie? Or will I find out soon enough?
Well, when did you play it? I played it when it came out and I was affected pretty heavily. I can imagine that if someone played it today, it might not be as effective.I played FF2 and wasn't affected by Josef's death.

Wasn't PS4 at 7,2 million by the end of March 2014? You'd think they have sold ~1+ million units in the 2+ months since then, unless sales have dropped off the cliff.
There aren't a lot of JRPGs. People who want Japanese (role-playing) games on PS4 have fuck all to choose from and Type-0 HD might be selling to a starved crowd.
Other than Japan? Even Sony doesn't really seem to have much for it other than Freedom Wars, that weird JRPG with the lineage stuff and Soul Sacrifice 2.
By the time this releases, Xbox 360 will probably be on its deathbed (especially when it comes to releases like Type-0 HD, some CoDs and the like might still sell decently) and PS3 will be following its footsteps sooner rather than later. The people who actively buy games are moving on to current gen and PS360 are withering away much faster than PS1 or PS2 did. Some PS4 & Xbone multiplatform releases are already outselling their last-gen counterparts and publishers are starting to abandon PS360 altogether apart from the biggest franchises like CoD and sports games.
It just seems like you are constantly talking as if they are releasing it NOW. Sure, the install base isn't all that big yet and PS360 are still relevant, but it's an actively game-buying one and growing at a steady pace with no reason to think it'll be any different in the next 12-18 months (well, other than the slow summer months). The situation will very likely be much better in 12+ months from now, while both PS3 & 360 continue withering away. And Vita is already pretty irrelevant, other than indies, it will be even more irrelevant in 2015.
And it's not nonsense logic. If PS4 doesn't get even half-big releases before FFXV, it's pretty much guaranteed that FFXV itself will probably sell worse due to it. It's a system seller, sure, but the few hundred thousand people who might buy a PS4 to get FFXV aren't enough to count for all of the usual 1,5-2+ million people who've ended up buying mainline FFs in Japan in the past (and this game probably needs to sell at least 1+ million in Japan, even if the action RPG gameplay helps it in the West). Of course if FFXV ends up being sensationally well received, one of the best JRPGs of all time or something, then that might not matter as much, but if it's just a "typical" FF, then that might not be enough to get a lot of people buying unless they've had other reasons to buy the consoles before.
Yeah, and for some, Type-0 might be a reason to get it sooner rather than later, especially when they know FFXV & KHIII are also coming at some point. And then those people will have a PS4 or Xbone already when FFXV releases, making it all the more likely they'll buy it at full price on Day 1. And others get more reason to get a PS4 or Xbone too, which will make it likelier that they'd pull the trigger and buy a PS4 or Xbone before or once FFXV's releases.
They seem to be making this more than just the most straightforward & simplest of ports. At that point, porting it to Vita might be too much of a hassle.
It's not dumb to want to look into the future and try to make steps that help make it likelier that that future is a good one. Not having a JRPG of the scope of FFXIII on PS3 until the end of its 3rd year really harmed the home console JRPG market. Type-0 HD is one more reason for JRPG fans in Japan (and all over) to get a PS4 or Xbone.
PS4 & Xbone's combined sales are already (over) half-way there to 25 million and they've only been on the market for about 7 months. If they can do that with the line-ups they've had and Xbone's price, then they can do a lot better in 12 months and with the kind of line-ups. Xbone just got a price-drop, we have a Fall filled with some pretty big releases that will get people to buy the new consoles + the Holidays + what is shaping up to be a potentially incredible Spring 2015 with all kinds of Witcher 3s, Batman Arkham Cities, Bloodbornes and whatnot. You don't need to be a fortuneteller to make the prediction that PS4 & Xbone combined will sell at least 10-15+ million units within the next 12+ months and that's lowballing their sales. PS4 alone will probably do those kinds of numbers in the next 12 months if not a lot more. And, hell, if MS getting their act together has a big enough impact, they might BOTH easily do those kinds of numbers within a year, meaning even 40 million isn't totally out of the question by mid 2015. Speculation? Sure, but far more likely than them suddenly stalling and staying at Vita-like numbers.
No, but I've followed the industry for most of my life and I've read what goes into the decision making in a lot of businesses. Evaluating future endeavours is one part of that. Those are the kinds of things that are considered when making decisions. Releasing the game on Vita might give them ok sales, but it doesn't help their future, as Vita is likely not living long past 2015, whereas PS4 & Xbone are just coming on their own in 2015 with cross-gen shit taking less & less attention, so it would make sense for Square Enix to focus on those platforms instead of Vita. PSP already showed them that focusing on a dead-in-the-west platform doesn't make much sense and can even harm them in the long run, when pretty much every major & minor release bombed and then they were late to everything.
And of course it's just speculation, but it's on a hell of a lot more steady ground than wondering why on Earth does a big publisher not support one of the worst selling gaming platforms of all time. Some platforms have done a lot better than Vita and the likes of EA, Ubisoft, Square Enix, Konami etc. have still abandoned them fairly early (if they've really supported them at all).
Sony never released a 8.5 million report for the PSV.
If we're gonna make up numbers, then I'll just say PS4 is at 9 million.
I win.
PS.: For Vita to be at 8.5 million it would need to have sold nearly 4 million copies in Europe. jenniferlawrence-ok.gif.
As much as it pains me to say this, Farmassu is right. All 5 Vita fans were irrelevant to bringing this game to the West.
Not as ugly as your HEART....*runs away sobbing*Josef is ugly.![]()

It's good.
I wonder why SE decided to go with PS4/Xbone over a PS3/360 port of the game. Not that I'm complaining, but I figured they''d go with something that had an even larger install base.
I'd imagine that this is quite a ways off.

My feeling is that this will release the season before FFXV launches.
So if this launches summer/fall then XV will be fall/winter. If Winter then Spring etc...
Close as they will likely include a demo, trailer, preorder bonus etc...related to XV with the game.

Like I said earlier, Sony tried to get them to do a Vita version but SE refused. Instead of going the logical way of at least doing a PS3 release they're now going to publish a 4 year old PSP port on new generation consoles without much in the way of visual upgrades.
If anything this whole plan might backfire on them as the game most definitely isn't up to console visual standards and not many will pay $400 to play it. They're doing a disservice to the FF fanbase which is largely existing on PS3 already.

Any FF fan will also miss XV without a PS4 or X1. Is that a disservice too? And Versus was announced for PS3, unlike Type-0.
I presume you were shown a video of the remaster?
