At the very start of the direct someone in the crowd asks Reggie "Where's Mother 3" or something and Reggie toasts him with flame breath. Not really an indication that Mother is coming, but weird that they would acknowledge the fervor...

Do you really think Nintendo has 2 new IPs ready for us? I mean, I'd love for them to have something brand new for 3DS, but considering how rarely they make new IPs it seems completely insane to expect 2 new IPs in 2 days. It's possible, I'm just saying it isn't likely.

Who would develop a 3DS Metroid? EAD Tokyo is on Captain Toad duty as we found out today. And it should launch this year if it exists and is announced tomorrow, so that rules out Retro Studios.

Anyways, to anyone trying to argue against titles because of the length, that's not a good argument. It could fill up the whole 90 minutes. It could also start late, end early, and have a Q&A session like Smash Bros did tonight. And I think just about any game could fill in a timeframe like that.

Well, none of those are real hints, but the Mother Trilogy one is especially flimsy. Are they supposed to flat-out say "nope, you're never getting a Mother game again, let alone 3, ahahahaha"? Of course they're gonna leave it hanging in the air. Only one they alluded to multiple times is indeed Zelda, that's why it's considered the likeliest of the bunch.

It's always possible it could be something completely new but we wouldn't be able to speculate about that, so no point in thinking about it.

They name dropped a franchise that has been repeatedly ignored by NoA. Just mentioning it is significant.

Exactly my thinking, I highly doubt she owns a lifesize Majora's Mask and even if she did I don't think she would have brought it all the way to a theater during a Smash event. It's pretty obvious that Nintendo gave it to her to tease MM 3D or Majora's Mask related project.

Given this:

During his post-event IGN appearance, Reggie said both "well, I WILL be wearing another Samus pin tomorrow night!," and "Look, I'm not going to give you guys another announcement here on your show after Devil's Third" when asked if the Mother 3 reference during the Direct was a hint at an upcoming Mother 3 release (Since both Star Fox and Mario mentioned that they wanted games during the Robot Chicken segments and then got them).

I think it might be Mother 3.

During their Robot Chicken segments today, they had a "fan" ask about a new Star Fox, which we know is coming. They also had a fan ask about Mother 3. Would make sense.

Maybe it is something Mother related. Although, I still think Majora's Mask or even Metroid is more likely. But, 90 minutes? Is this event dedicated solely to the unnanounced title, or to the 3DS 2014 1st party lineup as a whole? I don't know what to expect anymore :/

During one of the early Robot Chicken sketches there was a mother 3 joke made. It might not mean anything, but at least Nintendo recognizes that there is a still a lot of fan demand for the localization all these years later.

I don't remember the length but I do remember people bitching about it. Iirc these things have always ran short of their alloted time since none of them are scripted so don't be surprised if it's not a full 90 minutes.

Nintendo was foreshadowing. It could just be coincidence, yes. But how many people were expecting Star Fox? Most people thought it was dead.

The "jokes" were really simple pokes at some requests I imagine Nintendo gets a lot of. Exact wording from the video:

Nintendo SPD1. They haven't been busy since Tomodachi Life which came out early last year. Mario Maker seems likely with EAD4, Splatoon is EAD2

Who is to say that Nintendo didn't simply gift it her? That way it's technically her Majora's Mask but also ties in as a promotional thing. Of course maybe she just had one lying around... who knows?

I don't think it's a coincidence. It's one thing if it was a LoZ event, but it seems like a random thing to just bring along to a Smash Bros. tournament. She didn't even do anything with it other than carefully plop it in full view of the audience.
