PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | June 2014

Something tells me the next Escapist episode may just be about the PS Vita and the recent Type-0 fiasco.

Bad fucking enough my brother had my Vita and HE DIDN'T DOWNLOAD THE CRASH GAMES ON IT!

Not cancelled... But turned into an uninspired free-to-play game. It'd be better if it was cancelled altogether.

Man, I hadn't even heard of Lily Bergamo, but after reading here I googled a video and it looked promising. How in the world did that even turn into Let it Die? Yesterday I was just totally uninterested in Let it Die, and blissfully ignorant of Lily Bergamo. Now I am angry at the former and sad about the latter! Ignorance truly is bliss.

Total topic derailment for technical question, Plz Understand.

Ok, so I didn't know where else to go. I posted this in The Last of Us Community Thread, got no response, but that was yesterday. I am not impatient, just wanting to spread the question to more eyes. So I come to you all for help. I finally got TLoU via borrowing it from my gf's dad. I put the game in and it loads to the title screen, I choose new game, normal, save my game, and the game loads the first cinematic. After Joel picks up his sleeping daughter off the couch (no spoilers, first 45 seconds of the first movie), the screen fades to black, and never comes back. Other times, the game fails to load after I choose new game. Other times, the game doesn't even load at all. I've tried deleting my game data and reinstalling many times. I've tried it being signed in and out of PSN. I've tried without the patch, but the game doesn't even load. I can hear the disc drive spinning like the Tazmanian Devil before I boot the game, and directly after, but soon it just goes quiet. Any idears?

I finally get around to playing this masterpiece, and I am blocked at every turn :( I want to play this on PS3. I want to see what they achieved on this console. I have the 300gb Slim PS3. PS Move Bundle, as if that makes *any* difference. Other games load fine. After each session of trying to get it to work, I pop in GTA and am able to smoothly and quietly launch right in to GTA:O. I've researched online, nothing I have found helps, or works. Frankly I am afraid of looking too deeply for fear of uncovering some dbags unmarked spoilers on some random-videogame-forum#67284. Bretheren....please halp! ;_;

Just picked up football manager 2014 for vita @ $20 did not expect this as I was just browsing...couldn't pull the trigger at $40, but at this price, it's a value. Fyi, much better than I expected from all the reviews, much better.

UMVC3 on sale for the Vita for £7.69... worth it? Probably the cheapest we're ever going to see it, and a hell of a lot cheaper than it'll ever be at retail.

(Phoenix Wright and Rocket Raccooon hngngggg)

Just noticed that Soul Sacrifice Delta was listed in yesterday's store update post again. I have no problem with this.

I'd buy it at that price. Is the online server still up?

Do it. PW thanks you in advance for your purchase. He is a crazy character in the game. VERY hard to get down, but once you do he has the most powerful moves in the game. Doesn't make him the best character, but he puts up great fights. I love using him.

Although #NOVITANOBUY is gaining momentum where was this momentum when tearaway and killzone bombed! :/

Vita sure is tough love!

Only a moment ago i saw the Playstation Tv ad
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3i87unktx0Y

How much SCEA hates Vita? They don't even want to make Playstation Tv more appealing thanks to the ability to play PS1, PSP and PSVita games, but just as remote play device!

SCEA really wants to erase "Vita"(console + games) from people's minds leaving only the "Playstation Tv"(a remote play device that doesn't need games)

I'm wondering why SCEA hates Vita so much and why SCE doesn't punish SCEA for his mismanagement(SCEA's work is to promote Sony products in America, not to bury them), is SCEA only doing what SCE wants?

After a shitty no show and typo fiasco I am feeling this gamescom will become detrimental to vita's future in the west.

The way this thing is being marketed, it'll probably end up as dead as it is in Japan.

They really want Playstation Now to be the next thing.
It's obvious they are "all-in" on it.

I'm pretty sure that video was produced by SCEE. "For the Players" is their marketing slogan, not SCEA's.

I can't believe SCE aren't changing the thing's UI.

SCEA burying the vita with SCE's tacit consent could be due to a combination of things I think. Primarily, Sony's financial issues are forcing them to be allocate resources much more carefully than before. They can't afford to fund extensive projects along with marketing costs on the vita, PS3 and the PS4 at the same time. And they've clearly chosen to prioritize the PS3 and PS4.

That choice seems to be the result of an over reaction of sorts to the PS3's launch woes that have them almost obsessed with not replicating the same mistakes with the PS4. Likely why Yoshida has every single first party studio working on PS4 projects currently.

Finally, SCEA has never seemed all that bullish on the idea of portable gaming. Even though they produced a lot of quality games for the PSP, they gave up on advertising it pretty quickly. Perhaps they've figured the future of portable gaming is resigned to mobiles and thus, there's no point wasting resources on a lost cause.

Frankly, there's no where near enough outrage over the fact that a major gaming company has essentially abandoned it's product two years after releasing it. But the only thing one can do as a consumer is to direct some noise towards those actually responsible, e.g. House, Yoshida and Boyes, as opposed to the seemingly solitary person who's actually trying to bring games onto the system (i.e. Shahid).

At the end is written "Sony Computer Entertainment of America".

I understand what you mean but Shahid is not the only one working for Vita, Sahid didn't fund and developed Wipeout, Tearaway, Killzone Mercenary, Little Big Planet, Oreshika, Gravity Rush, Freedom Wars etc, SCEE and SCEJA are still spending time and money for Vita and that's what i don't understand, how is it possible that 2 branches are working spending resources for a product while another is working against it and SCE does nothing?

Its actually funny that Nintendo is doing more for WiiU than sony does for Vita. They put ads all over the place for their games....

SCE in financial troubles? Lol

Don't forget about Kingdom Hearts and TLG! Also really dissapointed that Lilly was cancelled :(

While I appreciate the series, I have no attachment to KH at all. I've played and completed Dream Drop Distance but that's because it had TWEWY in it.

As for TLG, the dream is dead for me since it missed it's 2011 release date. If it eventually does come then I'll get it, but I can live with the game not releasing at all.

Ueda can play all the candy crush he wants for all I care

As I see it the problem with the conference and the vita in general is one thing.

Most of the games that gets announced for the vita are indies. The problem with indies are not that they are lesser games, but that we already know everything about most of them
before they'll even get announced and have even played them on other platforms. This leads to the feeling of just checking another another game that should have been on the vita from day one off the list(binding of isac, dustforce, swapper, child of light, hotline miami etc.).

This is however not true for all the indies and some examples are road not taken, helldivers, metrico, olliolli, not a hero, murasaki baby, etc.

In the Sony booth on E3 they have the following games for people to play on the Vita:

Akiba’s Trip Undead & Undressed
Big Fest
CounterSpy
Danganronpa 2
Disgaea 4
Don’t Starve
FlyHunter: Origins
Freedom Wars
Gravity Crash Ultra
Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd
Gunship X
Home
Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number
Hyper Light Drifter
Invizimals: The Alliance
Legend of Raven
MechRunner
Metrico
MLB 14 The Show
Murasaki Baby
One Way Trip
PS Vita Pets
PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate
Race the Sun
Reaper
Rogue Legacy
Super Exploding Zoo
Switch Galaxy Ultra
To Leave

They also have some games that are announced for the Vita,
but are only playable on ps3 or ps4 in the Sony Booth:

Assault Android Cactus
Axiom Verge
The Binding of Issac: Rebirth
Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes
GALAK-Z: The Dimensional
Helldivers
Hohokum
Nuclear Throne
Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty
Road Not Taken
Teslagrad
The Swapper
Velocity 2X

Some of the games looks terrible IMO but a lot of them looks really interesting.

The problem with this lineup is that we already knew about all of these games.

Back to the problem!

The problem with the way Sony handled the Vita during the press conference is that they (except for the Devolver video) talked about the Vita as an accessory to the PS4 and when they finally showed us games that we didn't know about and talked about the future of the Vita, they showed us free to play games.

Except for Vita the other consoles got at least one game that is mysterious that people can start speculate and create hype/buzz around. Wii U got zelda, PS4 got bloodborne and Xbox got scalebound.

What this signals to gamers are that those consoles will continue to live next year, but the vita dont have any game like that for the west.

If you think back on the Vita history we have always had a game to loo forward to (tearaway, killzone, batman, ass creed, etc). On TGS last year they showed a couple of seconds from the next gravity rush. E3 have never been good for the vita and all of the "big" games that have been announced for the vita in the past have been announced on Gamescom (last year it was borderlands and minecraft).

I dont know if all of you have seen this list of upcoming games for the vita, but if you haven't you should.

There is hope my friends.

I have to agree, SCEA more or less letting the Vita founder in the west after the systems first year is, frankly really messed up :(.

They HAVE games for the system (thanks to SCEE and SCEJ), indie developers willing to port games to the platform, Japanese third parties interested in the system (Altus, Namco, Temco, ect) and they have people who love the Vita who are practically SCREAMING at them what right moves they need to do but NOPE....they just don't care :(.

I love my Vita and if the support dry's up early next year, I will be cool with it (I will back up all my games to my laptop + have a mammoth library to play through), but still...no company should just let its own PLATFORM struggling this badly, but Sony is sadly...

The news surrounding Type-0 and PlayStation TV don't make things better either; they just sound like SCEA hampering the nails of the Vita's coffin :(.

Any idears?
Inspect the disc for dirt. Blu-rays are quite resilient to scratches, but a good old smudge will still make them unreadable. May sound silly, but it happened before...

Do other disc games give you any trouble lately?

Hope he doesn't get bullied by the Internet. It must be hard to be in his position and I'm sure he's working hard to get games into the system. He has enough hardships, people should cheer him up.

And as much as I apreciate Shahid I find Gio better while dealing with Twitter. Gaming enthusiasts are really hyperbolic and tend to get fired up over the tinniest thing.

Acting enthusiast when dealing with us is like playing with a torch in a room full of fuel. Things can scalate quickly.

I feel sorry for him, because now we know that he can't do shit.

They are mostly helpless negoitiators

Barely even have the backing of their own bosses.

I admire their commitment though and to be perfectly fair they have delivered a lot more content to Vita than most of us could have hoped for

Having the Vita become an Indie darling was a stroke of genius.

Their limits are clearly on Display after that Type O backstab though.

There is hope my friends.

With all of the media people at E3 I never thought that I would find out what is playable on Vita on the show floor from a Neogaf post.
Still, I'm glad that there is something.

I really want a good amount of these games.

I am so happy to hear this. Can't wait to see the patch notes.

Damage control?

Vita is getting itself a regular dose of bad press and a solid beating

Between the Brief time it got at E3, Andrew House calling it an accessory (quotes taken out of context) and lastly the Type O debacle....

It seemed to spur Gio into reaffirming his team's commitment to the platform on Twitter.

I applaud him for it. Those guys got it rough right now
