Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

I couldn't agree more

It's honestly pretty disrespectful to slander a game like that after being invited to a tournament by hosted Nintendo. That is some grade-A indiscretion on her part, and it bothers me that people are lumping the competitive crowd with people like her. There are several good competitive players who have good things to say about smash IV. For instance:

You know what I love? People being reasonable and not jumping to conclusions based on a few hours spent playing (or interacting with, for any other purposes) something new. Supermodel's post, shows exactly that, so kudos to her/him. Edit: There is, though, something I dislike about this post, which is the calling out of Melee Elitists. Of course, elitists exist, but there's also a lot of valid criticism, and even disinterest not necessarily from Melee players. People are allowed to dislike the new game too.

About Peachyhime, I think anyone who voices her opinion the childish way she did won't really be much of a loss for the growth of the community. Criticizing the game, but pointing out what can be done to make it better is one thing. Just calling the game trash (based on a few hours spent with it) and hoping for it to be like another game is entirely different, and does no contribution to making that game better for everybody. So I'm totally fine with her going back to playing Project M.

Yes! The Devoted from Radiant Dawn is one of the tracks in Coliseum! (Heard from Treehouse Stream)

Thanks for listening to me, Samurai.

Can someone give me an example of Sakurai going out of his way to make Smash 4 as non-competitive as possible

I don't see any noteworthy examples (the removal of crouch cancelling... but that's it). Some people are just conflating "lack of melee features" with "dumbing the game down."

We have evidence that points to the contrary, actually (such as the much needed changes to the ledge-game)

The only thing I can think of is the loss of edgeguarding. The fact that you can grab the ledge no matter the situation kind of sucks, but I think that it will give players new opportunities to ledgeguard with spikes and actual attacks instead of just occupying the space.

No, that was definitely a change for the better

One of the biggest issues in Brawl was that players could hang by the edge and camp there due to the invincibility gained from it. It was extremely potent on Metaknight (and it made him really, really hard to deal with, to the point where they added a ledge grabbing limit at one point)
