This is the very definition of the Texas Sharpshooter Fallacy. Taking a bunch of separate events and drawing a circle around them to indicate some sort of pattern. What about all the other retro games Nintendo has referenced over the past year? Why aren't we talking about those?

To be fair, I think the Zelda Williams one is more than enough and not "Texas Sharpshooter Fallacy" I mean come on, she nonchalantly brought out the mask at E3, she had to be teasing it.

Why are people hoping the big 3ds game announcement is MM3D? I already played MM, I'd much rather have a new metroid, the last one we got was in 07, hell the last 2d metroid altogether was in 04.

If it's MM3D then they should have just revealed it during their digital event, and not given it it's own roundtable, even though I know a remake of Majora's Mask would be a great game.

I'd rather have something new.

And what makes you think a 3DS Metroid would be "2D"? The 3DS Mario wasn't 2D just "because handheld". After Other M and Prime Hunters, I am not sure if I want a new Metroid game NOT developed by Retro Studios. Both games were fucking terrible.

So, even though Metroid is my favorite franchise, I'd rather have a Majora's Mask remake.

Advance Wars would be sweet. Been hoping the Wii U VC release was setting the stage for a franchise revival.

Really doubt it's Mother 3. That game was so openly, aggressively and gleefully pirated that I can't see Nintendo wasting their time since everyone who cares bootlegged it already.
