All of his messages recently is talking about killing himself tomorrow, and it gets even darker than that. Here he is referring to one of the guys that went through with one of the shootings recently...

I'm sure it's nothing, but I wanted to see what you guys thought of it at least? It seems like things like this are online all the time and people never think twice about it, and it just made me sit up and wonder, that's all.

This is (was?) pretty common on /b/. The unfortunate thing is there's no way to help those people. I hope he changes his mind.

I dunno, I just wanted to get it "out there" at least. I'd hate for it to be true and then bam.

Seems like him putting a date on it is just a cry for help. If he really wanted to do it, he would just do it instead of putting an arbitrary timer on it. I hope he changes his mind though. Nobody benefits from suicide.

Contact site admins. They should contact the police. Police should get whatever legal documentation they need for the site to provide an IP/location. They should then contact the ISP and get an exact address. Get there and get him hospitalized on a suicide watch.

We gotta stop toying around with this shit. Cause my concern is what happens when they decide to go out in a blaze of glory? Fuck that.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding this part, but is he referring to someone who also committed suicide or is he referring to recent shooting in the news like the one here in Vegas and Elliot Rogers? If it's the latter, this guy could be dangerous.

Yeah, this thread reminded me of the same guy. I remember watching the video of Sheriffs breaking down his bedroom door.

To your point, OP, I too find it weird that we've come to a point where this stuff is either dismissed outright or, for some, an opportunity to have some morbid fun. In the case of the guy I mentioned above, it was especially upsetting to see the same people who egged him on and insulted him to turn around and say how much of a coward he was for doing it.

Isn't those things just part of people? Of course there is more to him and other people even if what you say is true. A lot of suicide survivors who got better have later said that they were trying to ask for help.

Guy can sign language, and knows some languages. Clearly a heart broken guy. There is nothing particularly unnormal by wanting to take yourself out due to your heartbreak. It's one of the most basic needs.. to feel validated and loved.

With the internet, there's no way to know if he's serious until it's way too late. I don't really think there's anything you can do except send him the suicide hotline number. It's sad, but not much any of us can do.

Find him and stop him. Maybe the police can get imgur to give them his personal details on his profile so that they can stop him.

Or cut out the middle man and just put the internet detectives on the case.

Seems like a cry for help/attention which can be seen as a call for help as well. I have suicidal ideation, and I have made arbitrary dates to kill myself in the past. I however internalize, so I kept everything in my head, didn't post things like this. I'm unsure why excatly this thread was made, but it sounds like the dude needs help. It's in society's best interest to help the mentally ill.

Edit: Just got off the phone with San Diego PD. They are going to check into the matter. Hopefully it helps. :(

I have just seen things like this in the past where there was a horrible ending and also a happy ending where people online were able to do "something". I don't know how to make that happen so I wanted to at least put it out on the internet where I know people at least seem to care a little who may know how to do things that I have no clue about, that's all. I couldn't just see it and move on with my day.

The guy needs help, but I don't think contacting the FBI would do him good at this time.
Finding the local police in his area and getting him mental help seems like a better option. This guy is clearly distressed with his life and probably needs mentally help.

Suicide is no joke and I feel deeply sorry for anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one or has hit the bottom and never received the help they needed. But come on. He's talking about killing people right there.

They're based in SF I don't know if they have a relationship with the local PD to contact them. I don't know how serious to take a threat like this. the comments on the shooters is the most worrying.

I hope he does get help so he doesn't take people with him.

Mental illness is a serious, heartbreaking matter. I'm not trying to make light of that or anything. Just kind of scary to see people believe shit like that.

He said he thought about going on a rampage before. He does need help but shit he also needs to be checked out before it's too late.
