Okay I found out how to unlock the Strike mission if anyone else is having problems with it. Do the story mission then go to Tower(the social hub) and follow all the missions there that take you around to the different vendors and after that it should unlock.

wait, people couldnt find the strike mission?

Hit level cap, beat everything except for strike on Legend, still want more. Just gotta take my time with it.

Should dip into the crucible more, for sure.

warlock, yeah I'm in cover right now, holy crap lol. It's probably cz the mobs are 8-9 and I'm L5. I thought it'd be safe cz it's the L4 mission. Definitely designed for group play haha

Explore is not a Lv4 mission. They just recommend you should be at least Lv4 before choosing to explore, the starting enemies are Lv2, but it varies. There are some areas with Lv ?? (20) enemies in. Best head back to a lower level area as quick as possible :P

So it seems to be a pretty common sentiment that the bosses take way too many hits. I think their challenge is good, but I agree they take way too long to drop.

I really like how enemies do not pursue you very far. It always annoyed me in WoW and Oblivion that enemies would chase you for AGES. I like this game a lot.

I think I played a different WoW than you. In WoW enemies are leashed to very specific areas of the world. If you pull them away too far, they'll start evading your attacks until they return to where they started. The distance that enemies in Destiny appear to be leashed are quite small. So if you get overwhelmed, it's pretty easy to just find a door and step outside it for a few seconds.

When I fought the spider tank with a lv 7 and a lv 8 it was fine IMO felt challenging without taking too long.

I HATE that if you switch your special weapon mid mission you loose all your ammo it's really silly.

Do you lose all your ammo if the weapon you switch to uses the same type of ammo? I only noticed it losing ammo if I switch from a normal weapon to one that uses fusion ammo.

YOU CHANGED IT!

When you create you character and get into the game, the first objective is the story mission. You must complete it. After you complete it you are supposed to go back to the tower and get some gear that is free as a bonus. If you don't do either of the two missions, you will be unable to do the strike mission.

It's annoying to have to navigate menus with a cursor. This isn't a mouse and keyboard game so it can get awkward

It would be good to be able to also navigate with the d-pad. Even better with the touchpad.

Someone should make a thread with Destiny recommendations from the alpha. Not graphical stuff or problems with the VA. I mean UI things, bugs, balance etc. E.g. having the option to have the ghost audio come through the controller maybe.

Anyway, I would but Junior Member.

If there are still people with the "marionberry" error, try to reset the modem and check if the servers allows you to enter the game, I tried it and worked for me since no one here cared to answer me

Also, is there an option to play without helmet?

Second time playing I got back into the hype mode. Maxed out my character and decided I'm going to stop playing until the beta next month so I don't get a complete overdose before the game is even out :-)

+ Good looking game with good performance
+ Fun MMO-ish character development, inventory, questing etc
+ Interesting setting
+ Really just everything that isn't below in the negatives department :-)

- PvP was running around waiting for the next LT+RT moment (CoD)
- Some free-roam quests were the boring MMO kind
- No FOV slider

Can't wait for beta. Will definitely pre-order this game to get in and most likely Destiny is a day 1 purchase for me.

I remember guards would chase me for a while before turning around. But tbh, its a while since I played. I was mainly referencing Oblivion.

Hey I picked exo as my race!

Probably going to make a new character and try out a different class cause he is maxed.

I picked Awakened... ALMOST picked Exo... but im a hair guy... i needed some awesome hair... (and human doesnt have the hairstyle i typically pick in these kinds of games...)

I love the mechanics and challenge they presented, but I personally felt the fights dragged on way too long. I wouldn't mind their HP being cut in half.

It dies really quickly if your team targets down individual legs and makes use of the stun/vulnerable spot. I think this is just one of those cases where people have trouble with the boss only because they're unfamiliar with it. If this is going to be similar to MMOs where people do a dungeon more than a single time, it needs to be balanced for that.

Anyone having issues connecting? Says PSN is down but everything else is working.

*edit

Seems to be working now. Crisis averted. ;)

I HATE that if you switch your special weapon mid mission you loose all your ammo it's really silly.

It is annoying, but I guess it is to make you choose a special weapon for an encounter. So you can't sniper from afar, go in with a scout rifle then switch up to a fusion rifle when in the fray. It makes you consider each encounter more carefully. Your options are there, just plan them out beforehand.

I wouldn't mind bullet spongy bosses as long as they mix it up in terms of both attack patterns and visual cues. I see a lot of repetition with the ones in the alpha. Such long drawn out boss fights beg for more variety in boss capabilities. Would like to see more variation in the exploratory missions as well.

This game a straight shooter? Any melee combat in it?

i melee all the time... hell Warlock has drain energy ability with melee... its awesome!

My melee (magic blast thing) is pretty strong too... most enemies level 4 and below die in one hit... the rest up to level 8 take a single shot + melee to die...

Yep pretty much.
Going in as a level 6 with shitty gear will make it a very tough battle, but with some good stuff as well as using certain techniques they don't feel like bullet sponges at all.

Had some weird occurrence where I threw a knife at one of the tank's legs and got something like 4000HP marker. Not sure what that was or if I really hit it's leg or some hidden weak point or something.
He wasn't down and thus his neck wasn't vulnerable so I really don't know what that was...

I don't think I'll preorder based on what I've played. It has some cool moments, but after maxing out one class and working on another to about 6, I don't think it'll have the longevity to keep me interested. Not being 60fps really hurts this IMO. The specials take too long to pop, the higher difficulties just make the enemies more sponge like. They'd have to have some pretty incredible stuff up their sleeve to make me change my mind. It's already showing signs of typical MMO tropes that really bug me, mainly, stand in an area and kill stuff, rinse repeat. We'll see what the future holds. Hopefully the beta has more content.

I'm about convinced that I am never going to get a green special weapon that isn't a Fusion Rifle within the alpha's level range -.- Any time the gunsmith has green shotguns or sniper rifles that I've checked, they've been level 9. And no matter how much Glimmer I throw at the Cryptarch, he almost never gives me level 8 gear, but instead 9+.

On the off chance he DOES give me something usable when I buy a special weapon, it ends up being a Fusion Rifle lol...

It's the kind of thing that would be fine in the full release, because "Hey, cool, in a couple levels I can use this!" but is absolutely sadistic in the Alpha =p

Seems odd that you get just as much experience from a Level 2 Fallen Dregg as a Level 11 one. (30 XP).

Probably should change that.

I think this will definitely come later. Especially as they plan on including end-game raids in the final build. They won't get away with just having boring bosses with millions of HP. The fact that there is a stragey to the Devil Walker alludes to them considering this.

Not gonna happen on a console game, as much as I want it.

I know, I know :-( Console games are so tightly optimized that having people change the amount of stuff being rendered on the screen (side-effect of higher FOV) would just cause FPS issues. I got no real problem with the FOV but I sort of wish I could increase it just a bit. Other than that I'm fine with what we got.

But you have to preorder to play the beta. Sure you can preorder on amazon and immediately cancel, but you do have to preorder and you stated that you would not.

It's not that hard: just shoot the legs and when it's down shoot the head.

Now the Sentinel is much harder, with its shitty, infinite-spawning, Elite minions.

It was a Hive Wizard... And it took sooooo many shots to take down. Maybe I played a different boss :D

Was on the second mission in Russia and the game crashed so hard, it kicked me out.

By the way, is it me or is the music in this amazing?

Are there any articles out there that talk about the sub classes and what the builds look like for late to end game? Tons of potential there when you include specific attributes on loot.

Haha, I abused Cryptarch at Lv 6ish. So I got loads of lv8 guns. You should grind the Rocketyard. The void sphere things and Hive Knights seem to drop encrypted loot for me that turns out to be quite good.

Got mine downloaded this morning, didn't get to do much because of work today.
Psn is winddancerreborn if anyone wants to add me to play

The game is really fun to talk about. So many stories seem to unfold naturally while playing and you just want to share them with others. I think that aspect is going to give this game some serious legs.

Yeah I can see that too. Hopefully, they have a lot more stuff to discover and explore in the final game
