I think he voluntarily just stopped showing up. Don't think he made the transition to the current board.

A lot of old gaf legends left on their own to make their own alternate gaf when gaf started having a more strict moderation policy.

Was weird when gaborn died. He was an extremely familiar face. I remember being annoyed because people knew what happened to the guy but treated it as 'hey guys it's not cool to ask about it'. As far as I understood he had some kind of serious and or longstanding health issue that killed him.
