Blame Bento for that. Instead we're playing with André Almeida... like, REALLY?

I understand the reasoning, he's a good defender but sadly that's all he can bring to the table. Leaving Quaresma behind is starting to look like a massive mistake. All the talk is that Varela will start next game.

We can joke around with the 4-0 loss from Germany, but Portugal is still a competent team. If they pressure us like Ghana did today, combined with their superior finishing, then it can be an easy win.

We need to play smarter defense and learn to take advantage of our counter attacks.

Can we someone turn this into the usa hype train.

That was an incredible game. Obviously, the highlight was the first US goal in the first 23 seconds of the game. What a way to set the tone of the match. After Ghana tied with them, I didn't anticipate that the US would come back with a second goal. That sharp headbutt came out of no where. It's all celebrations now, but the US couldn't have had a more dangerous team than Germany to be in the same group as them. Speaking frankly, it's not hard to predict that the Germans will fucking steamroll the Americans, but it would be a Cinderella story if the US team were able to pull a shocking upset and defeat the Germans. =D

I'm prepared for the clowning from all my Nigerian friends. Then again it's not like the US is a bad team.

Anyways Ghana has little to no hope moving on to the next round and it's the only team I was rooting for. See yall in 2018, i'll watch but thats about it.
Yeah, FIFA jobbed both teams in the draw.

I agree you guys should have won, but we probably won't get out either. Portugal won't let us sneak up on them again. Even a draw is unlikely.

Also, why are your Nigerian friends clowning you when they lost to us in the friendly by the same score?

We can't counter attack any worse than today I feel.
And I actually hope Jozy is ok. Johanasson did nothing.

It's almost as if having World Cup experience matters. (Donovan...)

There was a headbutt?

I'm ecstatic the US won.

But all three goals that game were fantastic. Nice to see quality goals all around.

Ghana should have started Boatang. The USA looked very dangerous around the box, but the lack of possession was scary.

Well done to the USA. I will like to congratulate them for holding their own. Great game.

Football is such an unpredictable game and yet we never learn, I guess thats why we love the game so much.

Hopefully the US can cruise pass Portugal and Germany, would be awesome.

Summary:

* Dempsey's goal was pretty. (So was Ghana's.)
* Our midfield, and in particular Bradley, were dreadful. It's extremely disappointing because for the past two years they've looked quite good.
* Our defense, who I expected to be dreadful, were surprisingly decent.
* Howard was excellent as expected.
* We weren't the better team, but we did finish our chances. Cry more mesousa.
* A few Ghanaian players committed some terrible fouls. I was proud that we were good sports, bus-parking notwithstanding.
* Ghana's kits were really cool.
* Ghana's coach looked sharp in that suit.
* USA! USA! USA!

I really hope this was just the case of Ghana having our number. I still feel so empty after that win. don't feel good about it at all.

Usa used curse , its always supereffective.

for real , I have seen that game before usually vs Mexico. Mexico us pushing all the match to score an usa just has 2 o 3 attacks and they win 2-0 , its super effective.

I definitely think the US struggles with Ghana's physicality.

You can look at it glass half empty and say if we play like this against Germany we lose by 6 goals.

Or you can choose to look at it glass half full and say that we literally couldn't play any worse, our best midfielder had the worst game of his international career, our most important player in the final third got hurt and missed the last 75 minutes of the game, and we still came out of the match with 3 points.

Also one of our central defenders was taken off due to injury fears. Going forward we're only going to be playing better.
