Totally expected Ghana to win yesterday, surprised to see it ended 2-1 for the USA. Missed out on the second half. Congrats USA-GAF!

Today should be interesting. I'm pretty curious to see Belgium play, wondering if Brazil has gotten their shit together since the first match and Rusland and SKorea are both forces to be reckoned with, that might be a cool match.

As for predictions, I have no idea. Belgium and Brazil will probably win.

Dempsey was a fucking champ for playing after getting that karate chop to the face. I could tell that he was done for; for the rest of the night. Altidore getting hamstrung made me realize just how important he is to the American attack. The second half was just brutal as the Ghanians were running circles around the Americans. Ghana misses their chances, but the Portugese won't. Props to the American defence though. Jones was outstanding throughout the game.

Algeria is looking to set a world record. Currently they are tied with Bolivia for most consecutive WC matches without scoring a single goal. I'm positive Courtois will help them set the record.

The Korean squad is the most unorganized, inexperienced squad I've seen in the 4 world cups I remember.
I have zero expectations

What's with all the forced Belgium hype?

Why forced? They have one of the most talented teams in Brazil, look at names like Courtois, Kompany, Witsel, Hazard, De Bruyne and Lukaku. They did a great job in the qualifiers. It's only logical people are hyped, now is the time to prove they are worth the hype. (And I'm sure they will)

do we have a gif of this https://v.cdn.vine.co/r/videos/1805...p4?versionId=LeREDtVUY.NkpRGEoI2jLf_44WTnpA.Z ?(i'm probably hours late and this gif got posted 100 times)

There's no way Ronaldo could live down going out in groups to USA or Ghana.

Portugal looked pretty good against Germany, despite the goal difference. USA was barely holding on afte Dempsey's (impressive) goal.

Portugal won't win the cup, but don't mistake that for being a poor team.
Portugal completely stopped trying in the second half of the game. They only got a single real chance in the second half (should have gotten the penalty, thanks to FIFA's infuriating rules it doesn't matter that the ref blocking Germany's pass was the only reason Portugal even had the possibility to enter 16m in this situation) and as a result even caught another goal by a German team which had the sole motivation to conserve energy for the next game.

If they carry on with that attitude Ghana and the US have a good shot at taking points off them. I would agree that Portugal in top shape would smoke Ghana and the US, but they pretty clearly aren't.

'Murica winning the soccer world cup will be one of the main highlights of the tournament.

The flag, soaring eagles and our freedomz.

He is probably the biggest asshole in football. What choleric piece of trash. The red card yesterday was well deserved and I cheered so hard when the ref pulled it.

I will never understand how he gets picked ahead of Varane for Real Madrid. Everyone knows he is a massive liability but it's not like he's a world class defender to make it worth the risk.

Belgium is a dark horse candidate for me. I don't think they're going to win or anything but they're going to make it interesting.

Really looking forward to Belgium. With Curtois, Hazard, de Bruyne, Lukaku etc. the have a decent squad and they might be the team that surprises the most.

I really wanted to see the Belgium game. Wonder if they can live up to the hype. As opposed to us the Belgians actually have high expectations to be met.

hint: it's the US and soccer so no one cared

I think it's inevitable that the U.S. will win a World Cup within the next 30 years. The sport is gaining a lot of popularity here and more and more parents will put there kids into soccer.

We're a country of 300 Million with the possibility of the best training and facilities in the world.

BTW how did China a country of 1 Billion not make the World Cup?
