You're right. Going by the FIFA World Rankings, UEFA deserve 20 spots in the world cup.
 
on the side this is a good result for Brazil, with Croatia winning this game they're advancing to next phase 99%, only a combination of a loss to Cameroon with a big GD and Croatia barely beating Mexico would send them out

Then how about this, have the whole fucking world compete against each other to qualify. That should eliminate the weak teams shouldn't it?

Not so sure due to the goal difference. 1x0 was the best result, 2x0 not so much.

Also, Cameroon plays so dirty that Brazil must watch out so they don't get their players injured.
 
Goal diferencial doesn't matter. This result means Brazil is practically through and It's all between Mexico and Croatia to duke it out for the other spot. Croatia has to beat Mexico by any score and Mexico could go trough with a tie.

If the world cup was only Europe vs South America teams, then why be surprised if Asia, Africa and North America ignore it in a sense. Yes it's unfair, but it gives a chance to develop the sport, have local players and teams for people to follow. Look how well South Korea and Japan have done since hosting the world cup etc.

As for CONCACAF and the rest, Mexico just got a draw against the host team and one of the best in the world. So come on. The limited spots for South America and Europe make it that much more tougher for teams to slip up and miss out.

Agreed. It brings further interest and development all around the world. I'd hate the world cup if it was only European and South American teams. I wouldn't even watch it to be honest.

Europe dosn't need another representative country, fuck that.

That'd be cool but it would be a nightmare to actually organize. The current system, that takes in consideration both the relative strength of the different confederations and a principle of representation, works just fine. Even though it doesn't really make for the best possible tournament, quality wise.
 
Can't really insult Canada when other teams poach their players for the international stage. Hargreaves, Bunbury, Asmir Begovic etc. There are a few others I think. The problem is, a lot of the standout Canadian players go onto play in European leagues, and then decide to play for them as an adult. Or they are from Canada, but use their immigrant parents ties to play for their home country.

I think it's getting better though. Almost every single baseball field I played in for little league growing up is now a soccer field. With the rise of the MLS and strong support for the Whitecaps, you could start to see it be second only to hockey here in BC.

Croatia's GD doesn't matter to Brazil since they won head to head, same amount of points between them means Brazil goes first.

On the other hand Brazil will care for Mexico's GD since their head to head was a draw

Maybe they should have the countries in each continent play each other and then the best of each continent meet up to play off for best in the world.

It's just crazy enough to work. Should take 4 years or so to prepare I reckon.
