Im sure more areas and raids and whatnot will show up via DLC. Hopefully some will be free or at least reasonably priced.

Have we seen any comparable developer maps of just Earth? Unless Bungie has said otherwise, it's not terribly obvious yet that there are no other Earth locations in the final game.

Right now the group on bungie.net isn't a "clan" like the one on alpha.bungie.net. I'm not sure how they're going to go about changing the group structure on the main site but it's not a bad idea to go ahead and have a gathering place there in preparation for whatever site updates Bungie has in store.

Looking at the map, I noticed that Vanguard is a similar 'landmark' to Crucible. Any ideas on what the Vanguard option will be? Obviously it'll be a way to obtain Vanguard marks in the same way you obtain Crucible Marks from Crucible.

Not that I am aware of, but I was reading that Venture Beat interview posted a day or so ago and they asked Bungie about Earth and the guy kinda sidestepped the question and only mentioned Old Russia. So who knows...

Sussman: What we’re showing in the alpha right now is just Cosmo, but we’ve done all kinds of different things to make each location an icon in its own way. You definitely know what destination you’re at when you go there.

Sussman: Yeah. On Earth, it’s the old Cosmodrome in Russia. You’ll see humanity’s last steps to leave. You’ll see a lot of the ships and whatnot sitting out, abandoned.

I assume it's the raid. The Bungie guy said there's 5 modes. I think those are

This was the early version of Outskirts/Metropolis. Personally I think that trailer looks atrocious on a gameplay level, but it's understandable that a lot of people were disappointed by the change in overall styling.

And stencil shadows got cut; originally, Halo 2 was going to have pixel-perfect hard shadows and excellent self-shadowing. But that's not a shocker, the oXbox never had the render output capacity to reasonably handle an unpredictable technique like that in complex environments with lots of objects.

Halo 2's campaign is something else alright... the ending, or lack of ending is one of the best bait and switches of all time in video game history.

I still love that game though since the multiplayer remains probably my favorite competitive FPS.
