if they play like they did against Honduras, they're fucked. Even if Luisito plays - he can't carry an entire team of shit on his shoulders. They MUST step up if they want to remain alive in this WC.

As for England, I thought they played decent with some flashes of brilliance. The problem is Hodgson. Sterling, Sturridge and even Welbeck (!) had some great moments vs Italy, and I think they can exploit an aging, getting-slower-ever-day Uruguay defense.

Costa Rica ;P

So what was up with that 6 mins of injury time in the second half of the Spain/Chile match? Was the ref fucking drunk or did I miss something there? Very rarely if ever seen 6 minutes myself.

I have no idea, I was confused too. The first thing I thought when it happened was that they gave as much time as they could for Spain to come back, FIFA corruption or something.

I am not screaming 'conspiracy' or anything, it is just the first thing that came to mind, and I laughed. I just want FIFA to get caught being stupid that bad, I guess.

dunno. Apparently it was because of Bravo's timewasting near the end of the match, but still... it was Fergie Time. Too much. I was pretty much screaming at the screen because I couldn't believe it.

chilean player went down and had to be carried off with a stretcher that wasted a bunch of time. not to worry though, the second he was on the sideline he hopped right off the thing and ran back into the game!

Magic healings are still a thing. Usually it only takes the stretcher to arrive to heal players.

He was subbed shortly thereafter though.

Did you see the game? Chileans started time wasting at the 60 minute mark. Bravo went down for a while. The left back stayed down then popped right up. Other guy got the stretcher out. Between Bravo and the stretcher it was at least four minutes.

Some big stuff today. Loved Netherlands/Australia, missed out on Chile/Spain but happy with the result, and wow what a mess Cameroon is. However, Mexico - Croatia should be an awesome match.

To be fair, that was kind of annoying to see though not that this is uncommon in general to stall like that. But all it did was prolong Spain's suffering at any rate.

And then to think that Spain has one more match of shame to go. I can't help but feel a bit sorry for them.

Do? That's common. Usually it means for r minutes instead of three.

Only time I'd ever seen more than five was for an extremely serious injury, a weather delay, or something on the field.

Whilst it happens too often - thinking you are injured worse than you are after surge of pain is normal.

Ever got a real bad dead leg after a tackle? Hurts like a bitch for a minute or two, I tore my quad once and it felt exactly like that except I couldn't run it off.

A player hopping or whatever and then trying to run a bit to work through it isn't necessarily feigning. If its just a minor painful bump it can be like it never happened a few minutes later when the pain subsides.

I'm not saying the majority aren't bull shitters, just saying not all are.

One day I hope my country (Which is still fairly new to football but has some players with its nationality playing in some Swiss teams and one of them plays in Real Valladoid) to make it into a WC.

Who here comes from a country that has never qualifed for a WC but dreams of it one day?

The best chance Canada has to be in the world cup is to host it, which may happen one day. I think we've been in one and lost all 3 games lol.

Costa Rica, please tie with or beat Italy.

:(

I have a feeling that if somehow we manage to get to the next round, we might make it to quarter finals. That would be such an achievement for our country.

Now we have 3 MLS teams, and with room to put one in Alberta (I'd imagine).

I think Canada's best chance would be to have the Americans do well and popularize the MLS. Of course hosting is always a good option. (Maybe we can take Qatar's spot...)

We need to get us some of those magic stretchers in the US

You can co-host with us!

Man, great games yesterday! GG Australia! Really enjoyed watching the match. The german commentator said, football is growing in Australia, but slowly. Your match was a big ad for the sport, I think.
Also congrats, Holland! First one advancing to the next round, although the match was a lot more doughy (?) than the one vs. Spain.
And lol Spain. Na na na na! Hey hey hey! Goodbye! Wow, I did not expect that. Chile whooped their asses. What a game! Congrats Chile!

People were talking shit about Mourinho when he was putting Casillas on the bench, well he must feel pretty vindicated after watching Spain's matches. Mourinho is not the type of guy that would bench somebody because of a dispute or something like that. He wants to win; he'll always put the team that he thinks gives him the best chances to do so.

Casillas was at fault on almost all the goals that were scored against Spain. If I were Ancelotti, after seeing this, I would keep him on the bench for sure. Diego Lopez is not the best goalkeeper but right now he's a lot better than Casillas.

To be fair, the guy that got the stretcher out tried to push through it and stay in the game, but had to leave a few minutes later from the pain, so it wasn't all theatrics.

LOL at adding 6 minutes though. I'd never ever seen that before.

crazy what has happened to Casillas. I just assumed (and I don't think I'm alone in this) that he would be Madrid's keeper until he was 40. I do think that he's been overrated for some time (never the best keeper in the world), but he still played at a high level. and, maybe more importantly, was very powerful in the Madrid political hierarchy iirc. but obviously that didn't scare Mourinho, particularly when he was about to be fired at the end of the season anyways.

So apparently if Australia loses to Spain next week, i.e. failing to get a point, we will be ranked around 82nd in the world according to FIFA Ranking. What a joke :|

I was saying "7 minutes, 7 minutes, 7 minutes" before added time was announced so six was the minimum. Chilean players wasted so much time rolling around I almost stopped cheering for them.

Dude, i live here I can do this all the time. I am not watching a wc match anytime soon though, especially on my country. I am going no matter what. Besides I can get drunk in the stadium too. Lol

My seat is literally two seats from the sideline, there is no way I am not going to appear on tv. I am really thinking about doing this. The reactions here would be hilarious.

I believe in you!

Speaking of Uruguay...

The BBC commentary was very specific about the injury they thought he picked up and said he would have to give way to a substitute eventually. Doubt that was theatrics.

Shitting myself already

Not only frightened of losing (or drawing), but worried about the fact that I don't want Suarez to play, yet him getting badly injured would be disastrous for Liverpool. Best case scenario is that he feels a small tweak eary on like Costa in the CL final, and is then fully fit a few weeks later.

I was looking at the time table for today, hoping for boring matches at 21.00 and 24.00 so i could get some much needed sleep.

21.00 England - Uruguay.

Fuck.

If FIFA accepts Platini's 40-Teams-WC, chances will be better for smaller countries. The qualitiy of the matches would dive tremendously though.
