Took me few minutes... but end result is magnificent:

LOL awesome.

Like I said before, the whole cardboard and fulton recovery look a little foolish to me, it made sense with the tone of Peace Walker but here it seems a bit too much, although I can live with it if it's limited in scope and progression.

Overall it looks pretty promising.

Still no release date and still no pc version though :\

Why is everyone commenting on Snake being silent? What's the last MGS you played where Snake speaks during gameplay? Holding up a guard is the only time I can think of (and he even does it in this gameplay)

True. plus Keifer can't be cheap. And less cut scenes right? He'll talk when it matters most. Better than LINK never talking. Jeez Nintendo.

I hope you can have conversations with Ocelot and other cast members at motherbase, a mass effect style conversation between missions with the crew would be fantastic and a logical evolution of codec dialogue.

I think they'll definitely have something meta going on with Mother Base in TPP. With Ground Zeroes it was very much limited by the power of the PSP, so it was mostly menu driven, but even then they did have some cool stuff towards the end of the game where they used some of the stuff in actual gameplay. It was mostly just a visual touch to personalize the final parts of the game, but it was a nice thought. For TPP I think they'll probably go much further, especially with online stuff being a possibility. I'm pretty excited.

Don't you mean Peace Walker?

Things making sense in the Metal Gear series makes no sense.

The people stating that Snake didn't say a thing during this demo?
Im guessing this is because this was a special configured mission for presentation purposes only. I don't think they had Kiefer at their disposal for these.

The final game will have enough dialog in wich Snake participates, I'm sure.

I imagine they were just using it a lot for the presentation and the actual moment to moment gameplay won't involve that much Fulton action.

Y'know what, I'll agree with the people saying that the silly MGS-isms like the Fulton system and how it has such cartoony animations feels a little strange in this version of Metal Gear. The story presentation has gotten a lot more....dry in MGSV but the gameplay is getting even goofier, down to little things like the bubble noise when you headshot enemies with the tranq, or the horse shitting, or how instantaneous all of your Mother Base interactions are. More than before it feels at odds with the serious, immersive aspects in other areas of the game.

While watching small clips it's not really a problem, but I can recognize the disconnect and I'm not sure if it won't bother me over the course of the campaign. Yeah MGS has always been weird, but it feels different now. The further they get from MGS1, the more the tone of that game feels like it would fit rather than the Peace Walker 2.0 we see currently.

Will there be rooms in the Motherbase to explore (crew quarters, weapons storage etc)? Just running around on the outside would become boring pretty fast I think. It would be nice if they kept up with the detail of MGS2 on the smaller scale as well.

None of the areas so far look very interesting. Shadow Moses, the tanker and Big Shell/Arsenal Gear as well as the jungle in MGS3 had a personality that lent themselves well to the characters I feel. I guess that is the plus side of them not being as open, and it is probably my main misgiving I have with the new style so far.

The characters and environments of MGS5 just don't appeal to me yet. Hope to see more of the younger Foxhound-to-be (Wolf, Octopus and Raven as well?)

There were also clear thematic coloring when it came to the lighting of the scenes in many places of the first four MGS games, whereas realistic lighting system - while astoundingly beautiful and well implemented - just seems a bit bland in contrast. It really gives of the gritty western feel though, and it is an interesting direction to go in for the series.

It looks like it will be a good way for Kojima to finally part ways with Metal Gear, for a while at least. Hopefully, he can let Shuyo Murata and Yoji Shinkawa get a shot at something new once more as well.

Gameplay aside I'm really starting to think this game might be a disaster for fans of the fiction. I can't believe Big Boss didn't say a single word during that entire thing that wasn't in GZ. How do you present a character as a charismatic leader if he never says anything ever?

I think it's pretty clear that he had to cut down Snake's dialogue in the game because of his choice of actor. Granted we haven't seen many cutscenes outside of this one Afghanistan segment, but assuming it's any indication of the direction they've gone in the full game I'm very worried.

Amazing show. Still, there are graphical hiccups here and there as usual (e.g. pop-in, lack of shadows on the distance).

? It's all game play. You never heard snake chatting it up during game play. Except the beginning, I guess.

I don't see how this is a concern. We saw gameplay today, not cutscenes. There will be plenty of codec conversations and cutscenes.

Yes, the fact that the intro scene was pretty much a monologue made it seem like Big Boss was being lectured. A back and forth would have been much more in character with the series I think (like the intro of MGS1).

Aside from the pretty short pop-in distance which was rather glaring, i thought it looked really good, very playable with some really great gameplay perks.

Name a Metal Gear game where Snake says anything during gameplay, this is par for the course man, you never hear the guy until someone calls you or until a cutscene starts, completely normal.

Did you watch the same video lol? The first like 10 minutes is a straight monologue from Ocelot giving Snake his mission. When has Snake ever remained silent during a briefing? He doesn't have any questions or concerns about how hes going to spend the next 3 days alone in the desert lol? Nah this is ridiculous, I would rather have Hayter back than have some real actor be silent 90% of the game.

That being said, Best Metal Gear game by far just from this video. The lack of VO is just unacceptable Kojima. They better be getting Keifer's ass back in the booth, he cant be that expensive lol. Hes a tv actor.

But in PW codec convos were live as you played. Hell you heard some of it here, like when Snake picked up the intel... only it was one way. Snake never spoke. That's not what I'm used to for a PW style game.

You just missed the E3 PSN sale? I imagine it will be on sale again soon.

Lots of mixed comments on in but ill throw my input say it was definitely worth the $19 I spent on it.
Yeah no, I'd buy the physical for $20 but I'm not spending $19 on a digital version. No thanks. When it hits $20 for the physical I'll scoop it up ASAP.

People are too worried about Snake not talking all the time, something I noticed during MGS4 as well. You are underestimating the impact and purpose of specific cutscenes. He will probably be a bit more talkative in briefing tapes.

Ocelot was giving a badass introduction and explaining Snake what he had to do. He was probably briefed way before that and Oceloto gave him a review of that.

Ten minutes? you serious? Ocelot spoke for about a minute, true Snake said very little in response but a single minute out of context at the tail end of a cutscene is not enough to argue that he's too quiet.
And in classic MGS fashion, Snake probably has already been briefed beforehand, there will most likely be a briefing tape between Ocelot and Snake with full discussion of the events.

LOL

If Ground Zeroes or the trailers that have come out and this video isnt enough context for me to say that then I dunno what else you need. There is obviously a huge amount of VO being sacrificed due to Keifer Sutherland. Seriously this just sucks personally as a fan of the series.
