Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (Naughty Dog) Shown - 2015

If we just pretend Uncharted 3 never happened and 4 a redo of those exact themes of Drakes selfishness pushing away the people around him only this time they have the balls to commit to a ending that isnt a giant reset button I would probably be ok with it.

I don't know if I would agree with that. Existential worth is pretty heavy.
I guess but dispassionately pulling a gun out of a dead guy's hand while calmly walking away from a huge plane wreck is fairly dark too. It certainly wasn't representative of the tone of the entirety of the game. People seem to be reacting to the U4 trailer as if it's confirmed that Nate won't be wisecracking any more.

Eh, unch3 story could've been pretty good, but i think they dropped the ball with the villain's characterization.

Bah, Last of Us is just a step above those, so high, i can't say i'm very excited for Uncharted 4 in terms of plot, but i'm keeping an open mind.

I am sure the wise cracking, mass murder will be back with witty banter between sully and Nate throughout, the reveals are always more sombre than the overall game, that said the first teaser was all about revenge and this seems to be a Forced need for drake so may be wife/kid kidnap?

The title always have double meaning so the Thief's End could be the main nemesis in the game, with the whole "left to rot" speech!

Either way I am so looking forward to it!

I wonder what they meant with exploring more system within uncharted's core gameplay. I was looking at the trailer, and nate doesn't seem to carry any new bag or anything like that, so i don't know if he will an inventory with items or things like that. I think the melee gameplay will be improved, and we will probably carry melee weapons (can already see nathan beating the shit out of a pirate with a skeleton's arm). The puzzles in ND games are simple because they want the flow to be consistent, but i would love to see some harder puzzles. I loved searching for the relics in the games, i would love that this aspect could be expanded, in the more open nature of the last of us (Which is still linear, but you have some tidbits of exploration that make the game excellent).

The music of the trailer is godtier, is it greg edmonson, the composer of the series?

Whilst I agree Uncharted 2 is a better game, I do feel that the Uncharted 3 hate is seriously overblown out of proportion. Honestly guys, they're not THAT far apart in terms of quality.

Uncharted 2 isn't quite the master piece some of you make it out to be. Maybe we'll have to wait some years before the graphics become 'dated" so people can finally see the series for what it truly is.

Under the wonderful production values lies a shallow game and I say that as someone who enjoys the series despite this.

the graphics here look amazing! Amazing skin shader, subsurface scattering, dynamic plants reacting to the player and the wind....

really looking forward to this and other big ps4 games coming out in 2015

The Order is a cross gen bullshit? Cause this shit makes it look like a 16 bit game, Sorry but i don't believe this, I just can't, nothing even come close to this.

16bit? hyperbole overload right here.

And people are quick to forget that before the order, RAD only worked on 3 games.
3 PSP GAMES. It's shocking the order looks as good as it does.

ND on the other hand worked on 4 of the best looking games last gen (relative to release date, U1 looked amazing when it came out, U2, 3 and TLOU still look solid) And they have the ICE team with them.

Posting my story from another thread.

I want to share a story about my encounter with Neil Druckmann at E3(paraphrasing some):

So, I attended the Sony Pre-Press Conference and had the opportunity to talk to Neil. I introduced myself, and although I could tell he was being polite, my name didn't really mean anything.
I then asked him if he ever goes to Neogaf, he laughed and responded with "More than I should."
I asked him if he ever comes across the poster with the "Drake in the desert" picture as his avatar. In less than a second he responds with "You're the guy who disliked my ending." I reassured him that was not the case(directed him to this thread) but then realized he was talking about
my earlier criticism when the TLoU was going to end with a BIG cutscene instead of killing the doctor(s) and carrying Ellie out of the hospital with gameplay. He told me that when people have great ideas he listens to them, stressing that he doesn't rule with an iron fist and that it's still very much a collaborative effort on everybody's part.

In many ways, some of my biggest fears about Uncahrted 4 were eased. I was honest and told him I wasn't really a fan of Summer because it didn't have any strong standout playable/narrative moments like the other seasons had; or largely that it had too many cutscenes. He stressed that they actively look to strengthen narrative with these playable moments, and when possible they try to always look for ways to make them playable(the ending of TLoU changing from cutscene to gameplay is proof of this.)

To be honest, I'm more excited for Uncharted 4 now than I was post shake up. My fear was a reliance on cut-scenes for a lot of smaller moments but now I get the opposite impression coming out of E3.

Lastly, I told him the giraffe scene was such a powerful moment it impacted me emotionally(largely due to it being a playable moment.) Suffice to say, I think he took it as a compliment. ;)

Can't wait to see more desert/giraffe playable scenes in the future
SPOILERS DUDE!

Does anyone ever call Indiana Jones 'dark'? He does that shit all the time - first thin that comes to mind is the famous swordsman vs pukey Harrison from Raiders where he just shoots the guy and walks off.

Indy & Nate are sociopaths who like vandalising ancient tombs & generally getting into gunfights and brawls while paying lip service to the danger they put their colleagues in.

Nathan Drake's so effective at stopping mega-villains from unleashing (much-needed) death upon the world that it gets overpopulated and a Cordyceps virus starts on humans.

Elena's Sarah's mother but Nate dragged her along for another adventure and gets her killed, long before the outbreak spreads!

In The Last of Us 2 Joel and Nate reluctantly partner up to seek out a curing herbicide rumoured to have been found and safely locked away by Sir Francis Drake in the Pacific.

The final boss is a hybrid infected-descendant Eddie Raja.

buying ten copies

Sometimes Nate and Joel have a fight and split up. During these portions Nate teams up with Ellie (now 23) and Joel partners with Chloe. Forced co-op throughout.

Sony just released the E3 trailer dubbed in other languages with the official voice actors of the series.
Here's the italian version for example (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wV9YUtWABLY)
That was really a nice surprise considering it's a game that will probably be released during fall 2015. Probably a sign of the importance that Sony is giving to the series.

The location of that E3 trailer looks amost identical to the beginning of the monastery part of the first uncharted game (after the river drive). It was also bluish/greenish, also had those cages and skeletons.
