"have to pull that black piece.... hmmm"

"Oh!" *jumps down*

Why would I play something that looks like like that?

Geometry Wars was $5. I played that.

Yeah exactly why would you play it, or give a game a chance? That's pretty crazy.

And people who have played in and commented in the OT all came away surprised with how fun it can be once you learn how it works.

I think the problem with Sixty Second Shooter is that it looks so... amateur. Like, it looks like a prototype. Like they havent put in th efinal graphics. The menu is bad, in arena and everything just look bad.

Looks like it should be an XBLIG game or something. Doesn't look like a bad playing game though and could be cool going for unclocks and score but visually, the first thing I thought was how cheap looking it looked.

Because it looks like trash compared to countless other things out there. This is the first image I found on Google Images...

I am happy to buy games BTW. This week I bought

Pushmo World

Ether One

Plundernauts (Free)

1001 Spikers

I bought them as they looked appealing, and based on videos they look fun (or interesting) to play. Sixty Second Shooter Prime does not have any redeeming features (visually), and based on the QL looks terrible to play. Therefore I find little reason to try it There might be some hidden depth there, but it makes a beyond horrible first impression - that is hard to get by. And I cannot get by it.

I agree, the game is certainly not a looker, or very visually appealing for that matter. I don't disagree there. Personally, as long as I'm having fun playing a game, I'll keep playing. For me, I enjoy the time I've put into it. Sure it's probably not for everyone, but the game is not trash.

Hahaha. Which one?

Actually, it might as well have been 4-4. I'm not sure, though. It was a lava level where you drop down in the beginning, then have to go right over a lava pit, then up, then left over another lava pit to get the key and come back to go all the way to the right to end the stage. (Edit: was missing some words there, fixed)

The area around the door was basically a spike pit, though, and his good runs always ended there. The fact that you have to wait for the door to open is evil, haha.

Looking at the archive, yes, that is 4-4. He's passed me :( The level you're describing is 4-3.

Amazing show this week.
Jeff is so right, Vib-Ribbon should totally be build into the PlayStation Firmware. Peter Brown also made up for a great talk.

There's so much on the original PlayStation. I wish they would do a longer livestream dedicated to it.

A cool liveshow they could do is each week a console is randomly chosen and they'll play games from that console. Not sure how much longevity it'd have, but i really enjoy the shows where they sit down with an older console and play some less well-known games.

Yeah. For instance, it would've been cool to see them do Pa Rappa. Or maybe Colony Wars (from Psynosis, makers of Wipeout). I never played it (I wish it was on the PSN store as a PS1 classic), but with all the space flight games nowadays, I think it'd be cool for that game to be revisited by someone.

And it has a pretty awesome soundtrack:

With Shadow of the Beast being remade for PS4 (an old Psygnosis IP), this should be done too!

What I wish they would build into the Playstation Firmware is the PSX and PS2 boot logos. Like make it random PS1,2,3 or 4 when you boot the PS4.

Well Demonite teased a space game while ago. My hope is that Sony really is working on a new Colony Wars. Would make me very happy.

Or, you know, just have it be the PS1 boot screen every time. I don't know how they manage to make them worse with each iteration.

Chop....CHOP

Kick....KICK

Block....BLOCK

Hope the rumor is true about a PS4 Parappa!

Yup. That would be awesome. I remember hearing that the original wouldn't work today due to lag (it was designed to work with CRT tvs), but John Drake said (maybe during a Bombcast appearance or during E3) that there are techniques now to cut that down.

Any rhythm game with a set layout can easily compensate for lag these days. I remember Parappa having super small windows so yeah, even modern TVs with little lag would still not work very well.

Thanks to that 60 Second Shooter Prime quick look I've spent the last hour playing Geometry Wars for the first time in years. And I still suck at it. I always panic and use all my bombs before I even hit 100k points.

And this is probably why PaRappa is still not available to purchase in the PSN store as a PS1 classic. It would be a very poor experience. Unfortunately, I've never had a chance to play the original (or its sequels and spin-offs).
