Nope, I haven't bought another nintendo console since DS :p. This game are going to make me pick a wii u.

So how do xenoblade handle its world?
Basically, it's enormous:

(contains Xenoblade world spoilers. No story spoilers...)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLadRkjbXSc

Battles are seamlessly integrated atop that. The mech battle system appears to be a slightly tweaked version of the main battle system.

It is going to own bones

I like the music
Pick up a Wii U now and get Xenoblade.
.

Yeah I do too but that screech near the end keeps me from replaying.

Instead of that it may be best to watch walkthrough/let's play or two. But let me summarize a couple things for you.

-Every enemy is visible
-No Battle transitions
-You can pretty much explore everywhere, if you can see it, you can pretty much go to it.
-Promotion of exploration by granting EXP and other skill points by discovering areas, landmarks and hidden secrets, rather than having to grind monsters for levels.
-Enemies don't react to you in the same fashion, some will be aggressive when they see you, other will ignore you until you attack them, and a few only attack you if they hear you.
-No setback from defeat, you get insta teleported to the last major landmark in the area
-Save anywhere, at anytime

Really it takes away a LOT of the clutter that plague most JRPGs and the entire story takes place on the bodies of two giant dead titan gods. It's pretty amazing how they handle the world-building.

If you really want to more in-depth about the game Chuggaconroy is doing quite a good job so far.

It's the best rated JRPG of the 7th generation for a reason. I do highly recommend that you do play through it sometime. Maybe give the music a listen to as well.

I'm gonna miss Mechonis towering over Bionis (and vice versa) in this game.

That was a really cool aspect of Xenoblade. Kind of similar to the Moon towering over you in Majora's Mask.

Xenoblade X's premise is that the world is destroyed in a battle by two giant gods. Xenoblade's premise is that their world IS two giant gods battling... Any chance that could be the relation, storywise?

might be...the Nopon carrying Riki's weapon, a monster that looks very much like a Thelesia...X is gonna be a prequel or a sequel. If I had to bet, I'd put £1 on it being a prequel

First off Xenoblade had 2 God's battling and the world is composed of those 2 God's bodies. In Xenoblade X the Earth is destroyed when caught up in a battle between two Alien races and humanity caught in the middle.

Prequel isn't really possible.
Earth still existed when the experiment that wiped out the entire universe as we know it happened.

It's a sequel in the same sense that FF7 is a sequel to FF6.
Both have Moogles and Chocobos but outside that, nothing in common.
Cross has Nopons but that doesn't mean these Nopons came from Bionis.
They're really just there to be overpowered and have the best looking mechs.

I would love to go back to this world in a truly strong HD remake

but the only way to get this remake is to have X sell a ton

next Nintendo home console could have a nice Xenoblade collection remastered

How long has this game been in development? Like 4 years? Also, want to guess some of the voices in the game? Probably standard fare. Who voiced Malik in Tales of Graces? He should be in this game.

Have I missed something? I thought the story premise of X is that two alien nations were fighting above Earth, destroying the planet in the process. Where are the Gods coming from?

I mean, it's a Monolith games, there'll be some gods anyway.

Xenoblade released in 2010 in Japan, so 3 to 4 years sounds reasonable, yeah.
If the world was a good place, they would go for the British actors again, but that's likely not going to happen, since we can expect that this time around NoA will be the ones making the English localization.

It really was. In comparison, X just looks a little bland right now. Its world is missing a defining feature similar to Bionis and Mechonis in Xenoblade.

I have no qualms as long as they hold the game to the same standard they held Kid Icarus and Fire Emblem to. And I don't see why it wouldn't.

Xenoblade felt more unique due to its unusual voice cast and that'll likely not be the case for X, which I think is a little sad. FE is a good example for this, I think - it had some good voice actors, but it was just a lot of the usual suspects. I'm not really complaining, though, since Treehouse is definitely better at localizing text than NoE UK.

it is funny how my mind cannot see British VAs for X because of the whole UNITED STATES and NEOLA thing but it is okay for the people of NEOLA to speak Japanese lol

but
what Earth? the exploding planet might be it?
Our earth still existed when the artificial big bang happened. And that big bang destroyed not just earth, but supposedly the whole universe. Nobody would have escaped, the events are mutually exclusive. If anything, I'd say the original Xenoblade could be the prequel and Alvis "recreated" our universe at the end. He remembers it and he lacks creativity, so recreating the universe from memory would probably be easier for him than creating a new one.

I just hope that the game will have a good a variety of visuals like Xenoblade. What was presented so far lacks vibrants colors a lot.

The concept of Bionis and Mechonis was the most unique idea that i've seen in any game when it comes to world design. It would have been very hard for Takahashi to come up with another concept as unique as the world of Xenoblade Chronicles.

Didn't mean to offend anyone with the side quests complaint. So, would I have to grind hard if I skip side quests?
You shouldn't need to grind at all. If you just explore normally you'll finish a lot of quests and you can reorganize your party to help leverage a fight.

I dunno, there were some drab looking places in XB as well.
Cross is definitely going for a different style but the world looks rich and vibrant all the same.

So I still don't get what kind of RPG this game is. Is this an open world game? But judging from he story trailer, there's gonna be a space battle right? Its so grand in its scale I don't know how they are going to pull it off.

So far what I've seen sent my hype through the roof. This might be just my gundam pilot simulation fantasy.

Gonna have to get the first game again. As much as I tried I just couldn't get into it. I think it was too overwhelming for me somehow, but I've heard that you should just ignore all the sidequests so maybe I'll try that next time.

I wish...

Just fyi, port begging is kinda frowned upon 'round these parts... just a friendly heads up :)

I wish this game just came out on PS4 so the grafix could be even better

I think the Wii U is good enough. The real shame was having the first Xenoblade hindered by the Wii hardware, but really its all about the developer's design approach. Monolith's doing impressive work, IMO.

Well damn! Just a couple minutes into that video and I was already intimidated by the share size of the game world. Then noticed the video still had 12 more minutes to go. This is the first time I've been hesitant to play a game due to how huge the world is, especially with my limited play time these days.

Seriously, if a Wii game dwarfs just about everything out there in terms of scope, I can't imagine what the Wii U game will do, with the team promising to top the original. Monolith Soft is going to blow minds when they reveal more of this game's universe, and how mechs add to the thrill of exploring such massive vistas. This game will consume me!

I don't know what kind of technical wizardry Monolith Soft employed to create Xenoblade's world on Wii, but I'm expecting that X's world will be even bigger since it's on the Wii U.

The fact that you gain experience points just by exploring is freaking genius

And also most of time those hard to reach places 9 times out of ten have a little treasure or item rewarding your curiosity

I'm playing the first game right now and the setting is amazing. The design of the world itself reminds me of the Baten Kaitos games, which also had an incredibly creative setting. But Xenoblade X's setting (to me) seems disappointing compared to those. It has a great looking creative planet that it takes place on, but the actual setting is our current universe instead of a fantasy setting. It's a unique premise and still seems neat of course, but I can't help but feel that it's a step away from the atmosphere of the world of Xenoblade. It looks less like the difference between numbered Final Fantasy game settings and more like a complete genre change.

Well there's no Nopon in our current universe :p

There's still the fantasy setting here, but a fantasy that is a bit more grim and dark, which is how Takahashi works has been.

Holy shit. This game is HUGE! Well, I knew it would be huge, but not this huge! Holy shit.

That's not even everything. A few areas are omitted; plus, the guy didn't fully explore every place nor travel to the points that can only be reached by warping. He basically Just wanted to show I think the quickest route from one place to another.
