Luis Suarez the football vampire has bitten another player [Update: BANNED]

What I really fail to grasp is why on earth in that situation a player would try to injure another play like that. What benefit would Suarez have received if his bite had magically gone unnoticed? The player would still play after getting back up. So like scare tactics or what?

I saw this on the news the other day, since I don't watch or follow soccer. What I thought was hilarious (more like pathetic) was that the dude flopped like he got smacked in the mouth after he blatantly bit someone. Its hard to watch a grown man acting like that...

Who knows, they might just wear his shirts in support (that time for his racist abuse) again

A club that lives and loves the victim role. Suarez really is a perfect fit for them, always someones else fault.

Cripes wooden, thanks for all the LFC related info. Any excuse to put the boot in eh?
Arnie was right, Lunchbox 2.0

Staged fights can be pretty cringe worthy at times but for the most part its a lot better than watching how prevalent flopping is in soccer. Probably even worse in basketball considering how big these fuckers are. Not to say it doesnt happen in hockey but its certainly a lot less. I'd rather watch them fight, which is what some of these guys are paid to do, than drop to the ground acting like they actually got punched lol

Hahaha, it's cool. I just wanted to make my first avatar quote :P

How are people claiming that this is a harsh decision?

This is the 3rd time he's bitten someone, and these sanctions are actually less severe than the last time he did it. If anything, it's too lenient. Guy is a fucking scumbag and shouldn't be on a football pitch.

People defending someone who BIT SOMEONE during a game because they root for that team should be seriously ashamed and embarrassed for themselves.

I don't ask for a lot of athletes but for fucks sake could you have the tiniest shred of humanity and not BITE the other players? There's no defending it, you don't slip and bite someone. Shitty sportsmanship is bad enough, but shit like this has to be punished and hard; what kind of message does it send to the kids that idolize these douches if they don't?
You have to look at things from more than one angle. Maybe soccer players are really tasty.

You know the thing that strikes me as most odd is that Fifa didn't try to force Suarez to see a psychologist or anything. I mean it's abnormal behavior that is agreed upon to be above and beyond any level of fair play. Yes definitely ban him from games, fine him etc. [personally I feel he should get a longer ban than that but I digress] but at least try to force him to talk to someone about it. Seriously only way Suarez should be allowed back into the World Cup is after talking to a psychologist

Right. I think most people understand that it's a physical game and that tempers can flare up in the heat of the moment, but this is the behavior of a psychopath. It's just so bizarre that we are talking about someone biting people in a soccer match, let alone that we are talking about the third instance of it from the same person.

First good decision FIFA has made about the World Cup in years.

In saying that, I do sincerely hope Suarez gets support and help during the coming months while he is on vacation, as he is a tremendous footballer and delight to watch when he isn't handballing (lol at the dismissive eye-roll worthy 'everyone would do it so it's ok' defence), eating opponents or otherwise committing crimes against football.

There was a good article on soccernet this morning, with some decent lines in it:

Genuine sympathy must go to others who previously supported his public rehabilitation: family, friends, countrymen, those in the media who have sought out his side of the story. They enter the cycle again. Fewer will feel comfortable in signing up to it. He let them all down...

...Suarez is lucky he is cosseted by his profession; were someone in normal life to viciously bite someone's shoulder on a high street, then they might be looking at a custodial sentence. Were a sentencing judge to recognise this as your third such offence, then the stretch might extend into years, and there would be the possibility of being sent to the type of institution that deals with offenders whose behaviour extends beyond the criminal and into the mental.

Also, that Jawsuarez.gif is one of the best things I have seen.

What final? Uruguay has one match left in this WC.

Nothing stops the Colombian train.

When it comes to these instances, Uruguay is serious business. With or without Suárez, they'll be a tough team to beat.

Colombia is doing great, but I'd be very very surprised if they have a clear winning against Uruguay.

Precisely. I mean when Zinedine Zidane headbutted someone at the world cup way back when I could at least understand that he was angry and impulsive and acted out. It was mean-spirited, unsportsmanlike and ill-attempted but you can understand why it would happen. Biting someone in a match? Maybe if you get into an actual scuffle akin to wrestling but Suarez appears to be going in for these bites. It's super odd behavior.

Lol I feel ya, I would love for this to happen towards my local hockey team, we have a couple of guys on there that wouldn't hesitate to bash in some teeth for that. Can't say I blame them since biting is pretty despicable

Do you guys have that shopped photo where Luis is sitting and eating the arm of the guy he bit in the field recently, while the guy is complaining in the background?

Personally I'd ban all footballers! Well, all the childish moronic ones. But they tend to make up a large proportion of them. Maybe if they were subject to actual criminal assault charges things would change. But it'd never happen. Football authorities are too gutless to enforce that.

Is this a serous 'what about these' objection? Damn. Just because other shit happens doesn't mean this should get a pass.

I think the point isn't that "this should get a pass," but that "I hope that all the people outraged about this also get outraged at all of this other stuff going on as well."

I believe it was in his Liverpool contract that he must see a psychiatrist. How many times he went and how many hours he clocked, I don't know. It's obvious it didn't help.

Funny thing about all this is that, once the ban is over, they're sending a footballer on to the field that we all know will do it again - it's a matter of when, not if. With that in mind, is it ethical to punish anyone who retaliates against his next bite? FIFA knows it will happen, so are they really expecting players to not defend themselves?

As crazy as it sounds, I think the only way to stop him is to say, the next team he bites are free to attack him without fear of penalisation. Once he knows his behaviour is no longer protected by the referee/FIFA, I wonder how quick he'll be to assault the next person.
