Pic of the day. Some of the physical characteristics of Miis get carried over when you use them as Mii Fighters. The smaller ones become speed fighters and the bigger ones are more akin to power fighters.

Is that young Magic Johnson?

Sakurai a Lakers fan confirmed.

Fake veterans aside, I do want some crow eating to be done by the time Smash comes out. I've always wanted to make a Google Docs drive where there would be three columns and you would put your definitive decision about whether Mewtwo or Ridley would be in the game:

NeoGAF Username | Mewtwo | Ridley

Mariolee | Yes | Yes

And we would just shut it down a month before Smash 3DS comes out and we'll have the tastiest crow eating ever.

Just an idea.

EDIT:

Looks like the idea is popular enough. QUOTE TO REVEAL LINK TO GOOGLE DOC:

Romancedawn I yes I yes - both will be DLC

Man mii is going to have so many variables! Seems tough to keep track of. I wonder how things will work with them in live tournaments?

I'm a person who is always fully against banning things in games. If it's in a game and is there by design rather than a glitch, then it should be able to be used in all competitive standings.

Wot
Pretty sure Pokemon of the Week analyses are based on smogon tiers and even smogon movesets.

Not saying you're for it, but it's odd seeing that opinion
And VGC does this crap too, auto banning next to all legendaries is really stupid

Is this real? I don't see it on the Miiverse site yet...

It's going to be a brand new build that has taken on and implemented every single gameplay-related complaint that was made at E3, and combined them into the perfect game that will win over all sides of the pro/casual factional war, then unite them into a single force with enough fanpower to take over the world! Except nobody will ever notice, because the only information to make it out of Japan will be a six-hour loop of Pikachu whacking Mario with a Stick.

I could have been a decent writer if I had put my mind to it

Things are banned if they reduce variety. If most tournament participants are using Mini Mii w/ the same four moves, there is grounds for banning.

Don't you run a Pokemon website?

Also, the reason why people are talking about banning Miis is the potential time it takes to set them up.

Alright alright, bust out the bongos and let's start taking bets on what character Sakurai will reveal at the Next Generation Hobby Fair this weekend.

If Ridley/Snake/Pink Gold Baby Rosalina is revealed, I win one million space bucks, but if they're not, you suck all the dicks.

Who will take me up on this bet?

Did I ever mention how much I like you Joe? xD

Seriously cant believe people are calling this a boring pic. I love it and hope the competitive scene dont become negative nancies about this. For my Mii im going normal size, a balance of speed and power I guess?

"Dimitri Brings the Balance!"

Yes I know that was lame, shaddap OKAY!? D:

And tomorrow we might get something? Watch as Falco gets revealed :P

Do you actually play competitive Smash? If you do, you'd understand why things are banned. If you don't, it doesn't affect you anyway.

Mii Fighters being banned/not banned is probably going to depend entirely on if there are defaults or not. If there are defaults, than those will probably be allowed. If there's not and they're as customizable as they seem to be, there's no way they won't be banned. It'd be just too unpredictable.

It's not that unpredictable. You can tell if they are going to be a fast fighter or a heavy hitter just by looking at them. Its not like they fluctuate during the match.

Then why they always use Fox on Final Destination with no items eh?
Because we want Marth to be happy, and Marth is happiest when facing Fox on Final Destination. Don't you want Marth to be happy?
So why are people actually saying this is banned?
No, it's not banned. I'm hoping it's not banned. People just don't know how long it takes to customize a Mii fighter, and at a tournament time is a major issue. Showing another customization aspect (Small or large) means another thing you have to switch up before a match.

Amiibos might be able to fix this in the future, since you could copy your own Mii or Palutena and bring it to a tournament that way.

You live in Japan? Can you translate that page?

I do! I live in Tokyo and work in the game industry, as it were.
The important part of the page just says "Get your hands on Smash Bros. for 3DS before the game launches on 9/13!"
(The event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday at Makuhari Messe, a big convocation center in Chiba.)

Nice! As a general tip, stick with one character for at least a few rounds before swapping to someone else. If you just swap between each of the newcomers, you're not going to get used to anyone enough.

Thanks for the advice! I don't know how many times I'll get to play given the fact that it's bound to be hella crowded... I really want to try out as many newcomers as possible, but I don't know who to choose first!

I swear to god, if that's a newer build than what was at Best Buy...

I'm not getting my hopes up, but if it is...well, try not to be too jealous. ;P

Is it only the 3DS version?

It appears so. Too bad, because I was really hoping to try out the Wii U version as well...
