Once this world cup is over...support your local, or any, MLS squad.
Is the quality top caliber, no...but how will it ever be if we dont support it?
They've made strides, now its your turn as an American who enjoys soccer to help if you want a better league, better players, and better teams.
Many if not all teams have opened local academy's to train young American talent all the way down to U-8, they have partnership ID programs with state and town teams to help with training cost, provide training or too ID players they feel can play at an even higher level.
They've made many pushes to get games televised. Improving the coverage and reporting as well as pre/post and half time coverage.
American players of a higher caliber are coming back to play here, and yes, some older Euro talent too. But this is good! A 20 year old American kid out of UCLA drafted to the MLS now gets to "work" every day and learn from them, kids in the academy programs get to watch, listen and even sometimes train besides them.
So C'mon...do American soccer a favor and tune in, buy and wear a jersey, go to a few games.
Dont expect an American version of the Premiere league to spring up over night, it needs many years of support through viewership, ticket revenue, merchandising, and mind share before it can even scratch the surface of being considered top quality...and thats your responsibility, as an American and a soccer fan, too do.

Have there been any repercussions about the laser pointer incident? That was a really low move, and I seem to remember entire teams getting slapped by punishments from FIFA for things their fans did. Not calling for it, just interested whether there was any official reaction.
I was more annoyed at the constant whistling from algeria's supporters when they didn't have the ball.

You mean the referee-like whistling, right? Yeah, that was annoying. Still, nobody ever went blind from hearing a whistle, but a laser to the eye can be pretty damn dangerous and cause permanent harm.
