Giant Bomb #8 | It's a Hit!

Yep, pretty silly. Especially in Bebop's case as it is literally a television anime show.

I probably missed something but are Vinny/Alex going to be able to build a better computer? That kind of performance obviously can't go on.

Yeah, Cowboy Bebop is anime as fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. It's got comic relief episodes that don't really fit in, gender ambiguous super genius kid who saves the day, giant tits flying all over the place, rugged cyborg man with a gruff voice, some of the worst names in all of fiction history, and a dude fights in gunfights with a sword. And wins.

In what way is Cowboy Bebop not anime?

This anime discussion is reminding me of the previous times that this topic came up, and some people panicked so much about liking Persona 4 (and thus by extension being dreaded Anime Likers) that they decided to argue that Persona 4's 100% sincere anime-ness (as determined on the 'me scale) was actually some kind of parody

basically whenever a person who "doesn't like anime" likes something that's totally bona fide Anime As Heck™, they have to pretend that it doesn't count because it aired on Adult Swim late or night, or is actually a "satire" of "anime tropes"

You are correct sir.

Edit: Before it does end though I was trying to think of the video game equivalent to this same discussion. Like when is a video game too much of a video game that it alienates a huge audience and when does leaning into 'universal appeal' grant you a better game?

People who won't play Nintendo games cause they're "kiddy".

People care too much about what others think. If you over analyse what someone says for years of course you'll find some inconsistencies. We're only human beings, we don't have to make perfect sense all the time.
Don't ask Jeff/Patrick/Dan to be robots.

I think you see it in the casual vs hardcore arguments of videogames. Where casual is always a stand in for "popular thing I dont like". Mobile, handheld, and indy are constantly thrown into a space of not being "real games".

Bummed that the Grid Autosport quicklook is the PS3 version, was hoping for good PC footage. Wonder why they decided not to play the PC version? Is there any method to how they choose or did they just get the PS3 version? They played the PC version of Enemy Front while most other sites seemed to be getting the console version.

Now that I've watched a couple of Replays with Dan Ryckert and Tim Turi, I'm sad there aren't going to be anymore.
Tim Turi for Giant Bomb

Asura's Wrath was another great example of Giant Bomb hating anime except for all the anime stuff they like.

I never understood the "I don't like anime" thing. What you don't like is the stereotypical anime. It's basically the equivalent of watching Transformers and deciding that this whole cinema thing is kind of a waste.

It's funny because there are some AAA games that feel less like games than most video games. But I digress, the argument itself holds little water and is mostly a false dichotomy anyway.

My god, Bad Rats.

Hater smackdown, ha.
