PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | June 2014

Don't know if this is the best thread to ask this, but. :)

Out of curiosity, on my PS3 when I do the Speedtest I get like 18 Mbps Down/5 Mbps Up, my actual Internet connection is 200Mbps Down/20Mbps Up, is my PS3 not able to do that? Is the test screwed up? Do I have to set-up my router any special way? Or is everything fine and I should just shut-up and play?

That's the speed your PS3 gets with the selected test site, which mostly depends on the distance between your home and whatever test server you ended up with. Doing something simple as changing the DNS server will you lead you to a different test server and that can drastically change the test results, but for actually playing online games that doesn't mean anything.

There's a lot going on in the Freedom Wars import thread... What's the general impression? Good?

From what I've read, pretty good and a little difficult for those unused to the genre. It's been selling great in Japan, but we'll only know the numbers in a few days.

Just started watching Broforce videos on YouTube and man does that game look like a blast. Hopefully that comes to PS4/Vita soon, I vaguely recall somebody saying summer release, but I may be remembering that incorrectly(?)

i watched the trailer for that wacked out Pygmy PSM dog game like 5 times... it's like the movie Plague Dogs x the mushroom trip from the movie The Bear x Monty Python animation. i'll buy it

Ugh... this post is going to be a ballache.

I live in UK, and my main account is an EU one. I want to set-up a US PSN account so that I can purchase non censored games (TLOU multiplayer, South Park Stick Of Truth), and also have access to US PS+ games in addition to EU PS+ games over on my main account.

On the Sony Webstore I'm in the process of making a US account, setting my address to US and Florida as my state. I plan to do all my purchases for this US PSN account digitally using my debit card (for my UK bank account). Is it do-able, do I run the risk of getting banned from PSN?

At any point do I need to start worrying about purchasing US PS+ cards/PSN Credit, or the fact that my bank details are UK for a supposed US account?

People on reddit are reporting that JeandeArc and Gran Turismo PSP both are now Vita Compatible in the US. Can anyone check and confirm?

http://www.reddit.com/r/vita/comments/29ddla/jeanne_darc_and_gran_turismo_psp_games_now/?sort=new

Edit: It seems people are able to buy them from Vita store but cannot download them. Lol SCEA! Never change!
I posted here about that two nights ago, I wanted to replay it because I loved it on the PSP. Now I can't even play it.. Great

I've been running a US account for a couple of years and make all my PS4 purchases via that account. There's a thread on here that describes what to do. The gist of it is to set up the account, use Oregon Uni for the address to avoid taxes and then simply purchase psn cards from the US Amazon.com and apply to your US PSN account. Amazon send digitally.

Don't waste money on US PS+ as the PS4 games are the same and I imagine Vita will eventually follow suit.

Thanks, I've created the USA account now.

In terms of what I want to do with PSVita Remote Play I think I may be screwed no matter which angle I try to attack it from. Although I want to purchase the game on the USA account for the uncensored goodness, I want to play it on my main UK account, which is the account my PSVita is using, which is what I want, because this is the account I have a stock pile of PS+ Vita games on already.

However I really dislike the rear touchpad for L2/R2 presses. Since there isn't yet an L2/R2 trigger 'shell' for the Vita, I'm left doing a little trick where you can use the DS4 in conjunction with your Vita. The Vita automatically logs you into your main account, and when you use the DS4 to you have to switch accounts, so you end-up Remote Playing on the Vita using the DS4, but under the wrong account.

Since the Vita only handles one account on it, I think I could theoretically purchase a new Vita Memory Card and set-it up with the USA account, thus when the Vita automatically uses that account for Remote Play I can do the controller trick and switch over to my main UK account.... Unfortunately we're not in the clear just yet... because when you do this (use the DS4 for Remote Play rather than the Vita itself) the bloody screen automatically dims.

Is there no workaround yet to Remote Play PS4 on Vita; under your main account; using the DS4; which disables the automatic screen dimming?

Don't forget that even with different memory cards for different accounts you still need to format the Vita every time you switch.

This is to avoid taxes when buying PSN credit on Amazon right?

Oh for Christ's sake! Really? That's utterly ridiculous, and we'd still have the screen automatic dimming issue.

If Sony are going to position Vita as a PS4 companion device they NEED to allow it to handle multiple accounts; a on/off toggle for the automatic screen dimming; and either make a new SKU with L2/R2 triggers (if not also L3/R3 press-able sticks), or at least a shell with L2/R2 triggers.

It sucks, I know.

Looks like we got One Piece: Unlimited World Red in the EU!

Anyone given it a chance yet? Tempted to try it out but it's full price atm.

1001 Spikes and The Swapper not out in EU yet I don't think.

Just found out that Cel Damage was made by alien hominid and castle crasher guys, buying.
--hmm I read it up on a youtube comment...don't think it's actually the case...im at the confirm purchase screen

Because I'm not sure I'll be around tomorrow when it needs to be posted...

New thread please!

Someone can quote me at the appropriate time, if they wish. ;)

Sony is quick enough to bundle some fix to the OS when there's an exploit. Last time it was the removal of the 100 app limit which coincided with the TN CFW release. Sony must know the laundry list of Vita OS annoyances, but chooses to not put any resources on it to get them fixed.

Yep, I'm also getting the same app error. RIP to the only direct way of uploading non-super compressed Vita screenshots.

Droppity drop drop drop.

Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition
Platforms: PS4
Format: Digital
Crossbuy: No
Price: $14.99, but there will hopefully be an "incentive" for existing owners

A delightful power-up-then-backtrack romp through a delightful vision of old Mexico and the fantastical legends surrounding it. If you haven't played this already, then please consider trying this version. (I hope it's as good as the others.) Also, a great soundtrack.

Puddle
Platforms: PS4
Format: Digital
Crossbuy: Yes
Price: Estimating $9.99 (PSV is $7.99 and PS3 is $9.99)

This game came out in early 2012 for the PS3 (with Move support) and then came to the PSV about 6 months later. Now the physics-based, liquid-guiding puzzler is coming out of the PS4, with what I would hope are updated visuals. Ask the EU people how it is -- it came out in their territory already, I believe.

Sniper Elite 3
Platforms: PS4, PS3
Format: Digital and retail
Crossbuy: No
Price: $49.99 for PS4, $39.99 for PS3

Also known as "remote ballistic neutering simulation", you shoot your way through a variety of missions as a sniper. Focus here is on brutality and stealth, if it's anything like the previous two games.

ConstantC
Platforms: PS3
Format: Digital
Crossbuy: N/A
Price: Estimated $9.99 (same as XBLA version)

An indie platformer with cartoonish graphics, in which the main mechanic seems to be that you can start and stop time to help you get through the levels. Looks cute. Has middling reviews on other platforms (launched earlier this year).

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam Reborn
Platforms: PS3 (even though a PSV version exists)
Format: Digital
Crossbuy: N/A (even though a PSV version exists)
Price: $39.99 (no digital discount expected)

This is the fourth in a line of "tactical action video games based on the Gundam anime series", and was released in Japan as a PS3 and PSV title last December. However, in the US this appears to be PS3-only and digital-only. Doesn't make sense to do this, in today's modern global market, but hey ... whatever.

Child of Light
Platforms: PSV (already out for PS4, PS3)
Format: Digital
Crossbuy: No
Price: Estimated at $14.99 (same as other PlayStation platforms)

Using the same engine as Rayman Origins, Rayman Legends, and last week's Valiant Hearts, this is another artsy Ubisoft game using highly stylized 2D artwork. This game is essentially an RPG in which you play Aurora, a girl who falls sick and awakens in a new world, Lemuria. The ne world has had its sun, moon, and stars stolen and she must return them to their rightful place in order to make her way back to her father.

Where the flap is my Pinball Arcade DLC, people?

No Ratchet Collection or One Piece Red dates?

Welp, I guess we will get the Ratchet Collection most likely late this month ala Sly Collection (I remember it came out early in May in EU but late May in NA). They are most likely have the game not be cross-buy, so they will make this a stealth release in US not to piss off NA PSN owns who own the game digitally but cannot get the game via cross-buy..... That is the cynical view but what I expect to happen regarding that game :l.

I guess that they aren't having much Vita stuff this month to help Child of Light to get more sales as the only new Vita game of the month.

Hey I thought you had judged the Ratchet Collection to be awful before seeing any real footage... :P

Sorry about that X(.... Seeing the footage myself, I came away plesently surprised at how good the games ran on Vita :). I just bitter with Sony's treatment of the Vita lately, so I guess that seeped into my views on the game :l.

At least it looks to be another solid port ala Sly Collection though; Ratchet 3 on the go...now that sounds awesome :D.
