I'm assuming this has been mentioned already, but what are the chances of something along the lines of a "Halo: Origins Collection" that features Halo Reach, Halo 3: ODST, Halo Wars and Halo: Spartan Assault all at 1080p 60fps on Xbox One?

I understand Origins might not be the most fitting name since not all of the games included are prequels but in a sense they all tell some kind of an origin to a character or place. I'm also aware Halo: Spartan Assault is already on the Xbox One but this version could either be included on disk or just have a key included in the box to redeem online.

I'm totally happy with The Master Chief Collection, and I don't mind playing the rest on 360 at all. However, this would be a great way to bring the rest of the Halos onto the same console as well as give 343 and Microsoft a Halo title for the year, since they usually release one Halo game each year.

They could use this bundle to help tell the upcoming story of a new Halo much like they are doing with this collection. In the same vein as either terminals or just CGI cutscenes in general. It would be especially unique if this bundle was used to prepare us for another spin off or origin Halo title.

They'd bring the staple dedicated servers as well. Would you guys buy this, do you like the idea?

Not nearly as exciting as having the best Halo games in one package. I liked a Reach a lot, but I'd think I would have had my fill of Halo: old games redux after the first collection.

did fonzi stop playing after CE?

Fonzi made a blog post on MLG a while back after Halo 2 saying he was retiring. He was getting married, getting a full-time job (he's got a B.A. in Engineering I think), so the Halo pro thing was done for him.

I always liked him as a player, I thought he was very in-depth, I'd compare him to SK_rapha in Quake as far as knowledge of Halo.

I saw him at MLG Dallas once playing the piano in the hallways...he's a great piano player.

Huh, interesting. Hope he's doing well.

Stinkles,

Is the design team for Halo 5 researching arena shooters like Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament for design inspiration for Halo 5? Would love to know the insight for Halo 5 core design. Like, other than previous Halos...what other games are the designers looking at for inspiration?

On the Halo 5 multiplayer teaser trailer, it says Arena multiplayer...so I'm assuming this time around for Halo, it will be more focused on arena-style play.

What the hell would even be secret about anything with Halo 1, 2, 3, or 4

It's a ported game collection with more gameplay content than Anniversary and 4 combined locked away behind stupid pre-orders again

You know what content is there and you already knew Microsoft was going to do that
Uh he's probably talking about the matchmaking?

"Future Halo" probs refers to Halo 5.

Yeah, and the fact that he may know more about the ranking system too. It's supposedly going back to the skill based ranking system of Halo 2/Halo 3 (but still be unique from those two).

Maybe he's heard something about Halo 5 that the gen pop doesn't know yet. Just saying...

didnt frank say if they ever did halo 2 ann that they will include the e3 2003 levels?wonder what happened.

That has already been shot down since its a completely different code than the actual Halo 2. They would have to section it off as its own thing on the disc and it would take up all sorts of space being a different engine & all. not to mention the level was so confined and if u wandered out of the pre scripted E3 stuff we saw the thing crashes a lot.

I hope this collection brings back all of the old school MLG players. Can't wait for Halos first event back on the circuit, gonna be so hype.

A lot to be hyped about but I'm looking forward to the achievements. Gunna be a fun 4000 gamer score to go after.

Also looking forward to checking game stats on all the popular websites like the old days. :)

I'm reading that as less to do with the game itself and more that he's heard MLG will be running tourneys, perhaps with some sort of support from 343 (playlist tie in?), hence starting a competitive team. The dude competes for money first and foremost so expect a big jackpot. Or 343 running a tourney themselves. They stumped up 200k for the Halo 4 FFA tourney last year.

Pretty slim to none. One of the big reasons for this collection is to "refresh" the story of Master Chief and to tie into Halo 5: Guardians which is now a saga instead of a "reclaimer" trilogy. So they decided to give you all 4 campaigns featuring Chief, including a remaster of Halo 2 for its ten year anniversary.

There would be very little incentive to 343 to add Reach, Halo Wars, ODST and Spartan Assault into another collection. I loved the Reach campaign, I loved ODST firefight and enjoyed the nice change of pace to the campaign. Spartan assault was free on Xbox One a while back. No one is in a rush to buy it. Halo:Wars, even on Xbox 360 didn't maintain as large a player base.

I think with Halo 5 Guardians, they're looking towards the future of Halo, and this MCC is just a nice way of placating fans who wanted to experience classic Halo again.

The fact that their is no AA makes me excited for Halo 5. We get to beta test it 11 months before release for 3 weeks. Also makes me excited it

It really depends on what those all new Spartan Abilities are. If the trailer was any indication for them, I would be sceptical as well, until we get more info.

Also, if you don't like the Beta, you can pretty much return to 5 other Halo MP games/modes
or you can continue to play the Beta until the end, if you don't mind it
.

Have to say holding a Beta this long prior to release is a very good idea!

I also wonder how they'll handle DLC, in its current form, across various multiplayer games, DLC maps seems like a pretty broken concept, you either make it optional, not selling nearly as much, or you force it, segmenting your players.

hopefully the the API has hooks for stat tracking

How much time was between the halo 3 beta and final release? I felt the changes made back then were minor, RIP overpowered carbine rifle.

Halo 3 beta was 11 May, and final release was 25 September.

Reach beta was 3 May, final release was 14 September.

This is the earliest beta by many months.

Finally Reached 500 subs guys, i'm so happy :D so i bring you my Halo 4 Gun Sync Special, this one i really worked hard on it, i stayed up all night but it was worth it :)
i hope you enjoy it to Frankie :) thank you so much for making Halo 4 and tell the whole crew at 343 thank you :) looking forward to halo 5 and the master chief collection

hope y'all like it :')

Oooooh yeah! More please!

This isn't really important, but are host specific features gone now?

Like, when playing custom games and punching a Fusion Coil, it would only launch the host in the air. Is that possible for every player now? An other example would be shooting birds on Halo 3 Guardian. Only the Host could kill them.

I would guess, yes, they are gone, but clarification would be nice.

Since the multiplayer games are running on a dedicated server, there isn't a "host advantage" anymore.

I'm wondering if that means everyone will be able to grenade jump or if no one will. Same with xxy reloading and stuff.

Host had certain advantages and gameplay elements in 2 that didn't work off host.

I know, but does that really eliminate those "advantages"? What if it's limited to the player, who has the smallest ping to the server?

I don't know much, about networking, but that's pretty interesting to me. Some fun maps, couldn't be played with more than 1 person, because of these "advantages". Well, they could be played in Forge mode, but people would have to skip those parts, on the maps.

That's all related to the netcode.

Honestly, we can't really guess anything about details like that yet I think. What we know is the fact that the game is running on dedis, which will definitely result in an overall better and smoother online experience, eliminating the fact that one player has 0ms delay. Everything else is up to the netcode and your own physical ping to the related server. If your ping is beyond 200 as an example, they can do whatever they want and you will still have lag difficulties.

Using Client/Server rather than Peer to Peer is always better for guys with distance disadvantage, South Africa to London (200ms) Australia to US (220ms) will always be there, but I've found playing on servers hosted 200ms away, BF4 for instance has so little lag you really need to actively look for it, I'm sure any Australians playing on US servers here can chime in?

The nice thing about server hosted gaming is reliability as well, which comes at an expense for the developer/publisher/platform though, I mean, servers.

Games like BF4, and Halo, which are less of a twitch fest, play perfectly fine at 200ms, COD however, not so much.
