cooling breaks are kinda usual in Brazil. Believe me guys, it gets THAT hot
I don't think we have them in America, but I know I would've loved them growing up. I played soccer in the Bahamas and south Florida. So even though it was fall and spring, I was playing in brutal heat at times.

This is good. This is practice for Qatar, where they're going to need multiple breaks per game. PEACE.

Meh. Missed nothing. At least the end of the ads tell me when I should start paying attention again. PEACE.

Really. I don't need to watch guys drink water standing around wiping their heads with towels. Most of the fans got up as well. They took their own commercial break.

Mid-90s is not the end of the world. Lots of American sports teams (especially down south) play in that kind of heat with high humidity. It's hot, but the players aren't going to melt.

120s, on the other hand, is a bigger problem and Qatar should have never gotten the Cup.

Yeah I played summer baseball and soccer in Texas growing up. Shit was miserable, especially when you had double headers. You get used to it though.

Wtf? Cooling break? What's the standard? This isn't the first really hot condition of the tournament. Kind of unfair no?

Not that I'm doubting how bad the condition is but just curious to know what the standard is.
Aren't a lot of things up to the refs discretion? Like adding time to the game? I don't see how this is much different.

It's funny how the A-League consistently has games in above 30 degree heat without any breaks like that. (Season is played in summer)

We build em strong down under.

Watched a game last year in 35 degree heat. Was beautiful :P

How is that good?

But a World Cup is too short for the player's to get used to the weather conditions and which American requires as much stamina / endurance?

Over 90 degrees the ref has discretion. They called a break in the US Portugal game as well

Honestly, only Mexico and Chile have impressed me this WC. Everyone else looks very vulnerable.

It's never stopped. Instead, the referee just adds extra time to each half so it doesn't really matter.

Yeah, I know but extra time is not accurate at all. So every game probably has a different amount of time the players actually play. I mean it works and I get it but clock stoppage would make game length consistent.
