Fuck FIFA, really. This schedule should never be used for football smack dab in the middle of summer. You were using the 6pm EST schedule already. Why not use that? Europeans can go to bed a little late!

Ball was not even above head height in the kick to the head if I'm not mistaken, and he made contact with the ball which he had every right to go for. No penalty. Robben tackle was a definite penalty.

lol, looking at the average summer temps for the Netherlands, I can see why 35c+ is wearing on them. Poor guys. Mexico are much more acclimated to this level of heat. Just imagine how bad things will be if FIFA keeps the '22 WC in Qatar. Even teams like Brazil and Mexico and the USA will wilt in that level of heat.

I don't see how this is an easy call for the ref without the closeup slowmo, Rafa's destabilizing touch was pretty stealthy (if looked at in realtime from a distance) and by the time the slide comes in Robben is already losing possession or it kinda looks like the sliding player is kicking it away.

Fortaleza: 30ºC

Curitiba: 16ºC

EXCELLENT PLANNING FIFA, WOULD PLAN AGAIN

Yeah, they should've picked/built 12 stadiums in the southern regions of the country. Say, everything south of Rio. The Netherlands is being challenged by the weather in addition to Mexico. Still, the Orange will be victorious today. They have got to. :-)

US training moved to Death Valley.

Advertisement money. I agree though. At the least they should never have given this time slot to Forzaleza.

Yeah, it's not an easy call.

No logic now, only ignorance and fuck the ref.

It's incredibly hard for a ref to see a dive right there on the spot, I can't blame them.
No, it's not. We have seen so many blatant dives already, where everybody on and around the pitch, no matter the perspective, saw it for what it was and yet the refs just ignored it, acted as though it was part of the game.

A Qatar WC's not happening in the summer. Players passing out on the pitch isn't good for the brand so FIFA won't do it.

FIFA will either strongarm the European leagues into giving them a winter WC or we're playing somewhere else.

(This deals solely with the heat concerns and not the other issues with Qatar)

This. At best that first challenge was an indirect free kick for dangerous play, not a direct foul though.

DC is very humid in the summer. Few summers ago it was constantly 100+with the heat index. I've talked to people from Arizona who stated it feels way worse with humidity instead of a high temp with only dry heat.
Yup. I meet a bunch of tourists who all the do is complain in the summer that seeing all the monuments means becoming a human sponge.

I've lived in both Florida and DC so I don't know what non humid heat is like.

no point is that no Mexican player played the ball. Robben doesnt need to be in possession of the ball for it to be called a penalty and the referee definitely should've seen that ball went off of Robben.

it's far more complicated than that. there are most likely tons of TV deals already in place which would all be affected by moving the WC to WC. Not only the WC deals but the league deals too. The sport of football could lose TONS of money by moving the WC to winter.
