My heart is still racing. Time for a shower and to prepare for a good nap during the Greece match.

Rooting for CRC!

Disagree, Mexico played better in the first half, though not by much at all. The second half they were dominated, Mexico's defense and especially their goalie kept Oranje from scoring sooner, but you barely had any say in the game anymore.

Sorry Aiii but your team looked awful in the first half. It took a goal to wake you up.

So why are people automatically jumping the gun to say that what Marquez did was intentional? It looks like was going for the ball and his foot came in contact with Robben's foot by accident. Marquez looks like he had eye contact with the ball at all times so idk. Just my two cents about the thing.

Uh? that's not relevant at all. You misplay a challenge and hit the dude's leg is a penalty. Intent has nothing to do here.
Oh maybe this is another sarcasm I don't know with this thread lol.

Because intention makes no difference...

Marquez is just a dirty player, he knows exactly what he's going for when he aims for the feet ever so slightly. Not the first game he's done this and he was the culprit for both penalty shouts here.

Did you watch this game?

Netherlands didn't do squat in the first half and were thoroughly outplayed. Heck, the ref had to stop play because the Dutch players were either melting or crying about the heat.

Intention had very little to do with calls outside of hands balls. Marquez was late. No getting around that.

I agree, but we weren't dominated like Mexico in the second half. Anyone saying Mexico was the far better team is simply deluding themselves.

Big teams are big because we underdogs never kill them when we have a chance, Mexico played better, but the victory for Netherlands is deserved, congrats dutchs.

And thank you Herrera, Ochoa, Herrera (Coach), Vazquez and everyone on the team, you made us believe but this was our top sadly and the dream is dead. I am heartbroken but proud of you.

Jesus this world cup has been full of heart breaks and last minute goals. I was neutral in that game but damn if I didn't feel bad for the Mexican team!

Zoom into their feet. Personally I think it was a penalty. Robben clearly doesn't help with his over dramatic reaction though.

Fucking heart-breaking. There's no reason he should have gone in like that either, there was three other defenders on him. Fuck man, first Chile now Mexico... I'm rooting for you Ticos.

And even though Germany has eliminated us before, Destroy Holland with No Mercy.

They were sweating to produce all the salt needed for this thread right now.

Seriously though, Mexico coping better with 39 degrees celsius over The Netherlands should not be a surprise to anyone.

I think the Dutch were taking it easy in the 1st half and didn't want to let the heat wear them down too much. They seemed more than content to just knock it around and pick a spot here and there to push it. Looked like they were saving themselves for the 2nd half and it seemed to work.

Mexico were fantastic though. I don't think anybody wanted a part of them in the knockout stage.

Just saw another angle on brazilian TV that did show even more clearly how this was 100% penalty. Not only Marquez did step on Robben's feet, but his knee also hit Robben.

Of course it was also a dive after that, but a clearly penalty.

A big win for Netherlands, with dat heat. By the way, their next game will be at 5pm local time.
