Would have been better if every one of the was played by Adam Sandler.

For anyone complaining about the dive, stop acting like it's a Robben thing. Football is famous for fake falls and players pretending to be hurt. As far as I know, that fame was already there before Robben started playing.

Besides, Mexico was playing really dirty this match and had it coming. I was surprised it didn't happen earlier.

Well deserved.

While I'd personally have qualms about doing so: these are professional player, if they decide it's more promising to go for a foul (as in getting fouled) than a pass/shot, they will and probably should do that. Such tactics are part of every match, we only forget because in most cases they lead to an uneventful free kick.

Of course this thread turns into an argument on the selling of a clear penalty. hahaha

There are people here that think Greece penalty in the last match wasnt a penalty lol.

Nothing else needs to be said.

I don't like Greece's team and wanted them out, but if that wasn't a penalty, what is? None of the opponents argued with the ref because it was right call.

I think that save on Holland's corner (now i'm trying to remember who shot) was pretty incredible, i thought it was going to be a goal for sure.
He kind of went in with his fists and actually stopped it with his face (with the ball then hitting the left post), but still, throughout the match he always seemed to have a great sense of how the actions were gonna play out, and was able to cockblock a lot.
I don't think it's just about whether you take goals, i mean let's consider the fact that in the second half, Mexico's net was a shooting target, with 10+ corners, he was bound to get a goal, eventually.
And one was on penalty, which was the defence's mistake, not his.

He is a really good keeper, nobody should doubt that. Just not sure if he did enough to earn the award. But whatever, these things will always be up for debate. Like I already said I don't think anyone clearly stood out anyway..

I just don't see the shittyness or tastelessness in klm's tweet.

Gael's tweet 'tho, now that is shitty and tasteless.

Well: "A international corp uses a cultural sterotype to mock a losing team, an actor that seems to deal with that airline a lot is offended in the heat of the moment, insults them and says that is never going to used again".

Seems fair to me as he seems to be a customer.

Yeah, Mexico fans loves to dress as charros with big hats and big mustaches and later gets salty when are used against them... not like is the only country that does that. Maybe, also, we should reflect in how we like to portray ourselves.

Lolwat? Is this post sarcastic?
How is it Samaras fault when he's just trying to shoot the ball? Samaras tries to shoot the ball, but the defender from behind stretch his leg and make a contact. 100% clear penalty.

The leg contact came as a result of Samaras' attempted kick, Sio did not challenge him in the least. Samaras went down after he kicked his own leg or the ground as opposed to kicking Sio which he had already done.

All I know is the 'Muricans are still in the World Cup.

My Mexican friends were doing a lot of yapping before the World Cup began.

Si se puede...Estados Unidos! :)

That does not matter like, at all.

The defender still clearly impeded the shot by making contact with the player instead of the ball. End of the story. Should have had better awareness.

The biggest story about that game for me was the return of SNEIJDER!

My favorite player on the squad.
I was hating on Sneijder the entire match. He has been pretty off the entire World Cup. But after that 1-1 goal he's no longer on my shit list. That was a fantastic canon ball.

Wow, so much salt in this thread the last hour. :lol Now MexiGAF knows how we felt with the Ivory Coast v. Greece game. :(

Anyway, it was a definite penalty. If you watch it in real-time, you'll see that Robben is moving forward but then suddenly goes down with minimal forward momentum. This suggests there was clear contact and on the replay you can see his foot was stepped on, which caused his forward momentum to sop. You can't reproduce a dive like that without any contact unless you're superhuman and able to defy the laws of physics. That said, Robben did flail his arms unnecessarily, which overshadowed the legit contact. But the ref probably saw how his forward momentum stopped suddenly and felt a penalty was justified. I'm sure it was partially a make-up call for the missed penalty kick in the first half.

Same thing here. Before the WC everyone was going on about how he was finally fit, hungry and ready to go but he has been invisible for the most part. Until today. (still like the only standout thing he did all game)

Can we stop conflating selling a penalty vs. diving? Robben may be a world class diver, second only to Busquets, but he was selling a clear foul there.

this really is one of the worst moments of the world cup. so close to getting rid of one of the worst teams. it's hard to see now netherlands not making the final. such a disgusting and boring team in the final two world cups in a row is just terrible. and to think there's a very good chance they will play germany, it's just nightmare fuel all around.

just heard from local broadcast that the only shot on goal from samaras is the penalty kick againts ivory coast.
that can´t be true.
