I actually wanted it for Android.

Seriously.

I couldn't be happier.

They will get the success they deserve!

YES.

YEEEEEEEEEEEES.

I bet there are units you collect with different elemental alignments like Fire, Leaf, Water, Light and Dark!

Surprising literally no one. Well, now that those hopes are fully knocked out, we can move on to something else. The "Mana game in two years", perhaps?

Saw that shit coming a mile away. It was boarding a plane 6 states over and I saw that shit coming. It was driving to the airport from Japan and I saw that shit coming. The thought of coming over hadn't even registered in it's mind yet and I saw that shit coming.

Well, if I often blame softco to direct their resource into mobile and not into "proper" consoles, in this case I can't blame Mistwalker.
They are indipendent developers, who work "for hire" pitching their concepts to various publishers.
If their next game is mobile, it's because someone (GungHo I think) decided to publish it; we should blame softco like MS or Nintendo (who published their most recent works I think) to not hiring them for a console RPG.

Good - lets see what the Gooch can bring to mobile gaming, might be something nice.

Kinda sad, I have been waiting for them to state their next game. Hoping it would be some great RPG and then I get this. Lame

Now we wait to see if it is the standard phone game crap with microtransactions everywhere or if it is a proper RPG game that happens to be on iOS/Android.

Nintendo may yet do so, or may have done so. But this just isn't that.

You should put most of the blame on gamers who have mostly given up on console JRPGs. Nintendo & MS can't keep funding flops, especially with rising development costs.

Is there any info other than name, platform and the fact that it's an RPG? Or is that all still to come at the Expo?

Yeah, that's where I usually place it. But was The Last Story even that good? I hear varying things.

*prepares for that trend to continue*

So much talent wasted, such a shame. That art on the left looks awesome.

How the hell can you say that at THIS point ? lol
You know next to nothing about the game, its mechanic, staff size, budget and so on.

People need to stop acting as every iOS/Android project means that said dev will never ever work on bigger projects, maybe even on consoles or PC. iOS/Android is just another revenue stream but many devs still need and can to cater to other platforms to pay their bills.

I actually really liked it. It hooked me right from the start. Bit short though. And there is no denying the game could have really benefited from a more powerful console.

As long as it's a real, chunky jrpg that I pay for once and not some f2p garbage with dungeons and characters behind paywalls I'm happy with it being on android.

How the mighty have fallen....

Doing a 3DS or Vita game would be "fallen" far more than doing a iOS/Android game. iOS/Android are way bigger platforms who sell a ton more games in both $$ and in quantity than any other handheld could dream of.

People need to stop acting like iOS/Android are some how lower. The other handhelds, hell the CONSOLES wish they could have the kind of gaming revenue as iOS/Android brings in. iOS/Android is a major element of the gaming industry that would be far worse shape right now without it.

I mean making games on the most successful gaming platforms in the industry today or making hardcore gamers on a message board happy? I mean it's silly to assume most developers would pick the later. Especially small ones like Mistwalker.

If it ain't f2p cashgrab like Final Fantasy All the Bravest or what the hell it's called, I'm ok with that.

Hopefully they'll decide to port it on handhelds in the near future.

The Famitsu link is basically just a tease for the article in the magazine and the Japan Expo reveal. Nothing about the game is detailed.

It compares unfavorably when associated with fellow OP Rainfall game Xenoblade, which had more ambition, scope, wilder plot twists, vibrant use of color to build an awe-inspiring dreamworld, and without various performance drops. Xenoblade is just a better built game.

... But I liked The Last Story better anyway. The gameplay did interesting new things interacting with the squad, the cinematic puzzle boss battles were memorable set pieces, the sidequests were weightier then MMORPG fetch quests (occasionally consisting of full chapters in themselves), and a swift-paced 25-30 hr adventure.
And the outfits are more stylish and have better customization, this is super important.
