There are now even more tweets and more calling out. Not about the two women who podcasted and started receiving abuse for thoughtful and considered criticism, but about herself and her experience.if she was doing it for attention she'd leave the post up. I'm sure everyone has said something in an argument that they then immediately wish they could take back.
I don't see why that's a concept that's so hard to understand.
I guess some bad stuff has been going on in the Giant Bomb community. It's always sad to see this kind of stuff happen, especially now. I mean, this should be an exciting time for duders everywhere.
I'm a bit bummed that what should be a happy time, GB finally hiring new people!, has turned into this clusterfuck.
...wait Team17 is making another game that isn't worms!?
Well the fact that we don't know about them is kind of damning in and of itself, right?
But Cara Elison, Kat Bailey, Daniel Riendeau are all good examples I think. I particularly like the former two.
But I agree Jeff Green would have also been an underrepresented demographic and I honestly think that is held against him too. I mean who the fuck has more experience in the game's industry than Jeff Green? Yet the dude ended up going game testing pretty much admitting it wasn't his first choice of gigs because he couldn't find a gig doing what he's most qualified to do.
whats the 775 thing?
I will say that the bolded plus the Greg Miller antics not resulting in anywhere near the same reaction as Leigh's drunken night have made me somewhat uncomfortable.
It's difficult to argue against the idea that there's at least an appearance of a double-standard.

ugh are people attacking leigh(or someone else) in the name of giantbomb again? sigh

Dear people acting like shit on the internet in the name of Giant Bomb: You dont represent us or our community. Stop it.
What happened this morning on the mods account?
This is also a giant bomb community and the ferver of discussion regarding the new hires has almost crossed the line.

I wish that Kat Bailey "Castlevania LOS2" article didn't weight so heavily on me. She was absolutely fantastic at 1up. I honestly can't remember if she was good in front of a camera.
I miss the 1up show.
I felt embarassed for Leigh on those shows. But I felt embarassed for everybody in the room when Greg stripped off his shirt and generally acted like a giant ass even knocking off beer cans deliberately for no reason whatsoever. Leigh said some dumb things but nothing comes close to that level of buffoonery. If a women did anything close to that stuff they would literally probably have to shut down the live stream to sort things out before returning to the broadcast.

What did the tweet say?
I don't agree with Kat about the Castlevania 2 piece but that doesn't stop me from liking her in general. Nobody bats 1.00.
"getting back to work. literally everything i write is more interesting than everything most of the gb staff does. bye haters"

Totally, they can't all be winners.
But that one was just...well whatever, she has a glistening portfolio, but I believe she's currently in the UK, so I doubt she would have worked either.
Well then.
Feel so bad for the GB team on this. I do not believe in tokenism or positive-discrimination (or whatever) in the SLIGHTEST. I have a ton of respect for them and don't for one second believe they wouldn't hire a woman if the right one came along. I think equality is key, and acting as though two white male hires are, like, AUTOMATICALLY not striving for equality is a twisted view of what that word means.
And as much as I want to say this lady is making a non-issue into a problem, I now feel like I can't because frankly her entire social media presence is probably going to be miserable enough as is. I don't want to join the pile. I feel both annoyed and sympathetic towards here.
agreed... also being drunk on a podcast where everyone is drunk shouldn't get that kinda shit regardles... but it seems over the years she keeps poking people with it, when it should have been let go long time ago
Zoe is not really the best fit for GB.
I only saw Cara the one time at the E3 panel.
She seemed like a pretty good guest, and would probably fit in. But right now, GB needed someone to help fill the Vinny/Ryan shaped void, and Dan was a much safer choice in that regard.
Everyone. And more directly so than people here. Not that what's happened here is great.
Leigh Alexander makes an interesting point about something, then tweets "anything I write is better than anything the Giant bomb staff does" then deletes.
No idea what compels people to lash out like that,
Do people hold GB at a higher standard that they're getting so much flack for this? Or was this just a long time coming for the industry?
Anyone recall the last time there was so much discussion over new hirings in the industry?
So much drama over one of my favorite sites, I wished the people hurling insults/harassment would just calm down.

insecurity and immaturity
I think part of the problem is that the GB community has latched onto 775 and won't let go. It's easy to understand why someone would take that as a constant attack, as I doubt she looks back on her appearance fondly. I certainly know that I wouldn't want a host of people constantly bringing up my embarrassing moments.
I get the sense that when that number pops up that the GB staff is kind of embarrassed and want to get past it, but I could easily be reading too much into things.
