Do you know how football works?

Your team of choice has to get to the other end and put the ball in a net.

USA have not been dping this.

How much are you guys paying attention to these games? You can not win on defense when you're not scoring

What the fuck :lol :lol :lol

Mate, I'm a regular in the football thread. I watch it all year. You absolutely can win 'on defense' if you hold out and then take your chances - see Wondolowski there - or on penalties.

But like I said in the football thread, shades of Chelsea 2011/12 CL win here; USA are relying on last ditch defending and Howard magic to keep Belgium out (who are less than clinical anyway).

But cheers.

Such an entertaining 0-0.

I think USA would get destroyed by Argentina if they get through. Messi wouldn't let the US off like Belgium have done. Belgium miss Benteke so much it's crazy

Edit: Not to take anything away from the USA though. They created some good chances too

Really, do they have to send Courtois to the front to score? I have the impression that the entire Belgium team has had at least one shot to beat Howard (who is probably making the game of his life).

And now, 30 more minutes of this....my heart won't hold :p

Question: if two attacking players are in front of all defensive players and one is already in possession of the ball, can they pass the ball to each other without it being offsides?

Yes as long as the other player is behind or in line with the ball when the pass is made.

What has happened to this amazing World Cup? Why have all the players forgotten how to score, as soon as we got out of group stages?

This fucking game. Give Tim Howard all the Americas.

Also, I have no fucking idea how they could have POSSIBLY put the offside flag up on that one. What a dodged bullet.

Question: if two attacking players are in front of all defensive players and one is already in possession of the ball, can they pass the ball to each other without it being offsides?

Only if the player who receives the pass is behind or in line with the ball when the pass is made. Kinda like rugby.

Considering how fast this thread is going, nobody will read this, but are we sure that the linesman raised his flag for offside or just to indicate a goal kick ?

I don't believe that he just missed Alderweireld standing there.
