Yo, we're talking about Avatar? Neato.

When Avatar first debuted, I thought it was dumb. To me, it looked like another "anime wannabe" like Teen Titans (I still think Teen Titans is dumb). I successfully ignored the whole series during its run.

Then I saw The Last Airbender movie. It was absolutely terrible, and I usually like bad movies. I thought that since I had watched that atrocity, I would give the actual series a try. While it starts off pretty tame, it gets better and better as the series goes on and the characters become more fleshed out. It got super dramatic for a kid's show. I watched all three seasons in one weekend, and it was incredible.

I like the first season of Korra as well. It had a crappy ending, but that's understandable since it was supposed to be a single season and they had to wrap it all up at the end. Season 2 was absolute trash, however. The animation was off, due to it being handed to another studio, and Korra as a character received absolutely no character advancement since the first season. Season 3 is looking to be much better, but we'll see...

Anyways, it'd be nice if Jason somehow got at least one of the Giant Bomb guys into Avatar. I remember watching that Nicktoons MLB Quick Look and hearing Jeff and Ryan constantly mispronounce "Toph" and attempt to figure out the character's origin. That was pretty great.

So many bandwagon jumpers with regards to drew.

Avatar is fucking amazing. Just one of my favourite animated shows of all time. For some reason I fell off watching Korra after the fifth or so episode. Is the consensus that that's a good show? I should probably try again with Korra.

Korra s1 is okay with a terrible ending. Korra s2 is sub-par with an amazing two-parter near the middle (though that has its problems). Korra s3 is starting strong(er) so far. Nothing touches ATLA tier though yet, generally speaking

I know Im speaking as a young naive guy but avatar TLA is a great kids/adult show. The way it builds it's universe with characters is great. The themes it hits with Aang are also adult yet not too serious as it revels in comedy in order to strike a great balance with many different emotions. It's still a fairly simple kids show but it has a ton of depth and creativity that make it stand out as one of my favorite shows. Go watch it if you're interested.

Totally agree. The way the scope of the show expands in s02 on especially is amazing. TLA and Adventure Time are two shows I wish I had when growing up, I would've been totally obsessed by both.

What is the Giantbomb drama that Jim Sterling was talking about on twitter?
Brad slept on the control panel during the latest bombcast. People got upset at Brad for sleeping on equipment like a kitty cat. Brad isn't a kitty cat. He's a person.

Are you sure?

Perspective shifting.

There were a few shit posts a few pages back I was going to reply to, but the thread is in a better place now -- no need to disturb the peace further. Especially if we're going to plot how to get Brad on board the A:TLA / Korra bandwagon.

That first Korra season still blows my mind on some of the themes it touched on for a kids/teens show.

So many bandwagon jumpers with regards to drew.

:c

Not my fault I got in late on the Giant Bomb crazy train!

I'm not sure what I want out of possible ERs. Obviously a Vinny/Alex Phantasmagoria 2 run but I don't know for Jeff/Dan. There aren't any wrasslin' themed games I can think of that would be good for an ER.

it doesn't have to be the whole game or be called an endurance run, but I just want a video series of them covering a game where the story is a big part of it. seeing their reactions to the general insanity of the Persona/Deadly Premonition characters and situations was great, and you don't really get that with a lot of their other content, which mostly boils down to them playing something challenging and trying to beat it.

what I'm saying is they should do a playthrough of that alpaca dating sim with Dan's dad

Brad's leaving
for AnimeVice
?

Nah. Rather, it's like we, collectively, as a society, have left
for AnimeVice
* and Brad is the only one that refused to move.

*Or
Comic Vine
. Maybe we'll finally find out if World War Hulk is more powerful than the Red Superman/Blue Superman team-up!
He isn't
.

If you think about it, there aren't too many games that fit that bill, though. Yakuza, God Hand, what else? I mean, if you give them something like Kingdom Hearts (which Brad was considering at some point, iirc), I don't know if we'd get much more than constant "ugh"s and "sigh"s out of it.

I'm one of the few people who enjoyed the Chrono Trigger ER, so personally, I wouldn't mind them going back to a classic RPG again. Though I can't imagine Jeff or Dan being up for that, so it'd probably have to be Brad x Jason or something.

I guess my only conclusion would be that I'd be more excited about a GBeast ER, but I don't know if that's feasible with their office schedule.

Bioforge, phantasmogoria, bladerunner and devil may cry to a certain extent.

Even some clarification adventure games can fit the bill.

For modern games divinity original sin could be amazing.

I still believe that Zuko has one of the best character arcs I've ever seen.

I think the problem here is that giantbomb has done a lot of ERs, it's just that they had a rebrand so that there's no expectation of daily videos and also earns them money through the paywall.

I don't think ERs are coming back in original form.

Edited my post to be more fully fleshed out, but I'm just saying that you don't really need japanese games.

Ah, I wasn't trying to imply that. Hm, Witcher II could work.

Yeah, it's just wishful thinking on my part, really. Don't expect them to return, either.
