I haven't been able to keep up with any info, but any details on the adapter if it comes bundles or such?

I'm sorry if it's been mentioned but I haven't had a chance to see much of gaf these past few weeks.
There's a $99 bundle that comes with the game a controller and adapter.

That and the Ridley stuff I guess.

Well, there the
furby is Ridley thing
, and the surprise end boss
Phantoon
.
Ridley stuff is also a spoiler, but it's so inconsequential after that scene that it's not that much of a spoiler.

Phantoon
is a reference. Same reason why I didn't mention
Nightmare
and
the Metroid Queen
, they're references without really meaning anything to the rest of the game.

"Dark Pit"?

I'll be pissed if Dark fucking Pit is its own character. Dark Link would be 100x better and would still be a ludicrous roster addition. Hell, Pink Gold Peach would even be better than Dark Pit.

Hopefully you're just talking about a palette swap.

Yeah, true. None of them were really plot relevant, but I felt the surprise from seeing "oh hey, it's a reimagined version of that one boss from that one game!" made for a better moment than anything in Other M's story proper. :)

Regardless, it's not like we're super secretive about Zelda games that have Dark Link or Phantom Ganon. It's not really a big deal to worry about spoiling/not spoiling.

In the US there will be a bundle that has Smash, the adapter and a GC controller for $99. I think the controllers are $30 separately and the adapter is $20. My prices may be off. No idea about other regions either.

$100 bundle for the Wii U game, the adapter and a GC controller. This is $110 normally ($60 game, $20 adapter, $30 controller).

Thanks for the responses, I was hoping for a bundle, are wave birds confirm to work? Those are the only GameCube controllers I own.

I'm thinking I'm just gonna get the game and an adapter thing instead of the bundle with the controller. It looks nice but I just can't go back to wired controllers.

Posted this in the middle of the night last night, thought I'd repost for day time users.

Hey guys, Im back with TWO polls this time.

The first is a limited choice DLC poll. This poll is based off the assumption that Sal leak is true, and what SIX characters would you like to see added as DLC. Link here: http://kwiksurveys.com/s.asp?sid=kbfy3wjfgl74d43378822

The second is my standard ideal Smash roster. Choose as many and whoever you want. Link here: http://kwiksurveys.com/s.asp?sid=5g648dakrkhq8i4379140

Have fun ~

Simon Belmont
Bayonetta
Travis Touchdown
Robin (Fire Emblem)
Ghirahim
Wonder Red

Honorable Mentions (since the poll was limited to six characters):

Takamaru
Lucina
Snake
Isaac

I'm still dreading the possibility of not getting any DLC for this game... knowing Nintendo, they always seem to do what makes the least sense. With the Wii U's online infrastructure, we finally have the option to add characters that didn't make it into the roster for whatever reason, instead of waiting seven years for the next game... it would be a waste to not take this opportunity.

I was checking out the wikipedia entry for Melee, and I scrolled down to the review/reception section. Just thought it was interesting what reviewers thought about the controls of Melee at release vs. what most people feel about Melee today, particular those in the competitive scene.

Reviewers have welcomed the simplistic controls,[2][18][58] but its "hyper-responsiveness", with the characters easily dashing and precise movements being difficult to perform, was expressed as a serious flaw of the game by GameSpot.[53] With a milder criticism of controls, Bryn Williams of GameSpy commented that "movement and navigation seems slightly too sensitive".[58] The basis of Melee's gameplay system is the battles between Nintendo characters, which has been suggested as being overly hectic; ********* questioned whether the gameplay is "too Frantic?", even though they enjoyed the variety of modes on offer.[60] Similarly, Nintendo Spin's Clark Nielsen stated that "Melee was too fast for its own good", and "skill was more about just being able to wrap your head around what was happening as opposed to really getting into the combat".[61] In regards to the pace of the game, Edge commented that it even made gameplay features such as "blocking" redundant, as the player is not given enough time to react to an attack.[57]

Despite the new features, reviews criticized Melee for a lack of originality and for being too similar to its predecessor, Super Smash Bros. Caleb Hale from GameCritics.com rated it as "every bit as good as its Nintendo 64 predecessor. The game doesn't expand much past that point".[62] On a similar note, Edge stated that "it's not evolution; it's reproduction", in reference to a perceived lack of innovation.[57] The nostalgic nature of the game received a positive reaction,[2] as well as the accompanying stages and items that made references to past Nintendo games.[60] Gaming journalists have welcomed the roster of 25 Nintendo characters,[2][58] as well as the "trophy system", which Nintendo Spin labeled as "a great addition to this game".[58][63]

generally speaking, professional reviewers have no good context to review fighting games in
Yep. I've commented on this before, but most fighting game reviews are poor. They tend to focus on the game purely from a content and presentation perspective and rarely touch the mechanics on more than a surface level.

Interesting.

I never knew anyone complained about it being too fast or frantic. Based on my impressions as a kid vs my view now, the game seems about as fast as you make it.

That last part is telling too. Even though the game is worlds different than 64, it still gets criticized for being too similar. I remember reading a lot of reviews say the same about Brawl; that it's basically more of the same. At this point, that kind of notion is hard for me to fathom. The three games just barely feel similar, though they all share the same gameplay concepts. It's like saying Street Fighter, King of Fighters, and Mortal Kombat all feel the same. But it just shows how much difference perspective can make.

Anyone seen that new fake leak on GameFAQs yet? It's one of the most outlandish yet, it's great:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/633202-super-smash-bros-for-wii-u/69566059

Hope we get a vet this week...

Anyway, because my last Smash E3 t-shirt giveaway seemed to go over well here and one of you guys in this thread actually won it, I thought I'd let you know that I'm giving away one more Smash t-shirt on my Twitter (@ashpaulsen) tomorrow at 12pm PST. It's my last one, so don't miss it!

It'll work the same as my last two t-shirt giveaways: I'll post a Smash-related trivia question on my Twitter at noon, the first person to correctly answer it wins, and I'll mail out the shirt once you DM me your address. Domestic shipping (within the US) only, sorry. :(

Only answers sent to me on Twitter (i.e. not here or on my Instagram) will count!

Mewtwo was in XY and just had a movie, which I can only imagine younger fans actually watched. Plus, Mewtwos cool.

While I am neither for nor against Mewtwo, people should stop using this as a form of "pro" for Mewtwo since it's insignificant to what Lucario and Charizard (X) got.

I remember when these fakes would mention Takamaru regularly... :(

I like how Takamaru went from given to erased from memory overnight.

People still loved to mention that Mysterious Castle rating that led to nothing in over a year, but now that we're in the home stretch everyone's ignoring it.

Seriously, LOL

Also...uhhh, took a look at the pastebin link in that GameFAQS topic and saw this:

Sauria from Star Fox Adventures is a stage, there are ruins in the background and dinosaurs run by. As far as I know the only Star Fox stage, don't know if Smash Taunts are on here or not. This stage is exclusive to the Wii U.

Yeah, not happening.

Speaking of Takamaru, wasn't there an interview a while back where Sakurai said he was working on redesigning a retro character in Smash 4 much like he did with Pit in Brawl? Or am I just crazy?

Yeah no, all Star Fox stages so far involve in a flying platform. Sauria is just an attempt to pull in Krystal.

I ordered SSBB at Play-asia in free shipping, but It still not arrived in my house yet. It's 16 days after it shipped.

I think I choose wrong shipping option. :(

Yeah, if Xenoblade gets confirmed as a represented franchise it will be interesting to see how Sakurai deals with
Fiora

Will he shamelessly spoil the whole thing in its trophy or will he try to keep it secret by being ambiguous in its description? Because that character is getting a trophy, obviously, at least.
He already spoiled a big character death in MOTHER 3 with the trophy descriptions.

Sakurai made this comment in an interview: “I am planning on doing my best to bring old characters back in Smash Bros. From that perspective, I am probably in the most fortunate position in the world.”

If you're thinking of
Hinawa,
that was in the Snake Codec.

And he did! Pac is back, for reals! And we didn't even have to resort to Pac is Back!

But with Mega Man and Pac Man he did manage to bring in a few heavy hitting oldies.

Seriously. I still want him in because I want a real samurai character and the time between Brawl and pre-4 has made me come to appreciate everything he brings to the table both in filling this niche and his potential contribution of Nintendo history to the general roster. At the same time, everyone fucking flaked outside of the dedicated for him. Sad. :lol

jesus that game

But yeah, even though I think most people were thinking of Nintendo characters through that comment, what they've done with Mega Man and Pac-Man is really exciting.

You already have Martha! How many more sword normals do you need!?

YES I'M SALTY

Aww that's a cute leak. There are some real good ideas there.

But you're gonna put Isaac, King K. Rool, Ridley, Mewtwo, Ivysaur and Squirtle as a mix of last additions and DLC and none of them are Dixie Kong? HERESY!
I gotta say, the big thing making me not believe that leak is that it has Ivysaur and Squirtle as DLC. I would think the point of DLC would be to make characters that people really want to buy, and adding in some pretty much random Pokemon likely wouldn't sell as well as, say, Wonder Red or the leak's own Isaac.

I'm pretty sure this leak isn't real, but I thought that I read somewhere that costumes wouldn't be completely different characters?
It's not confirmed, just assumed by a lot of people.

You're crazy if you think more people would buy a Wonderful 101 character than a Pokémon.

Shulk as a heavyweight? He never really struck me as such in Xenoblade. Reyn, sure. Dunban, maybe (but given his gimmick was high AGL, probably not). Shulk? He's more of a glass cannon...

Also, Sauria, but no Krystal. (I can almost see Nintendo doing this, but still, I wouldn't expect it.)

Yeah, Shulk is far from a heavyweight. Leaker could at least try to know what they're talking about.

Fghting game reviews are always terrible and not worth anyone's attention. The worst part is the "lack of innovation". Yeah, Melee only added side specials, chargeable smash attacks, wall grapples, light shielding, wall jumping, DI, momentum conservation, air dodging, the c stick... It's just the same game again.

Okay, I think I figured it out. This is why Shulk is allegedly a heavyweight; Sakurai saw fit to redesign him slightly:

tumblr_m43nht0hID1rs35uao1_500.jpg

Not sure why he turned the Monado into a bent shotgun, though. Maybe Shulk got fed up with Sharla's AI or something.
