PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | July 2014

Ah okay, I've been entirely digital on Vita so far.
I'll probably hold out for a US release, or JP release... maybe just make an EU account.

Portability is definitely a factor, but the vast majority of my Vita tome is spent at my house, so I need to look at the visuals and performance as more of a deciding factor. If it was 60fps, I probably would have got the Vita version, but now I can get the PS4 version and still play it on Vita at 30fps with Remote Play, just like the native Vita version, only better looking.

Same engine. It's not unreasonable two expect two games of similar graphical fidelity on the same engines to run similarly.

Same here. So that leans me towards the PS4 version
I'd ignored child of light up to now - not a huge rayman fan either. But I just finished Valiant Hearts and that UBIart engine is just so good I want to play another game using it.

Can't switch accounts without a factory reset so it's not worth it unless you import a lot.

If you want to import on the Vita, retail games are the best course of action.

Yeah, I'm thinking I'll get a 2000 for JP, and I have a Playstation TV preordered. (wasn't really planning on having an EU account)

I noticed something weird. Child of Light is cheaper on Vita than the console version on the norwegian psn store. The difference is only 10NOK (~1£), but still weird

Probably better off waiting for Freedom Wars Xtreme or whatever.
Cancelled my amazon preorder.
There probably isn't going to be one if this doesn't sell.

I am going to stay positive, what I've read in the import thread here is promising and I assume there will be some major patches released before it even comes out here.

Taking Amazon ratings seriously? IT's like... taking youtube commentaries seriously.
Amazon and 4Gamer. There aren't any better alternatives for Japanese reviews that I know of. And it's not like people are just hating on the game for no reason either because Soul Sacrifice/Delta and Toukiden have much higher ratings on both sites.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still very hyped for Freedom Wars. It just doesn't sound like the game should have been released in this state, but a few patches should do the trick.

Sometimes, they're right on the money pointing out the flaws in games.

Like sometimes you'll find a good commentary on youtube.

I still choose to not listen any of them. I can watch a let's play or something on the internet. Also, japanese games are known for not liking too hard games. Since I haven't played this, I dunno if the hard on this game is unfair or just hard that you need to stop pussying around.

I remember reading about a recent survey that said most Japanese players actually want higher difficulty in hunting games. People are claiming the difficulty in FW is unfair right now (and will be fixed soon).

I'm guessing you meant to quote Maedhros not me.

I don't know, that Reddit thread seems overly critical to me. I've been following the Import thread here and the response from them seems to be much more positive than that Reddit thread would suggest.
Yep, my bad.

Personally, I don't mind other people's opinions when I want the game. It didn't stop me from getting a lot of Vita games I enjoyed.

Zerko check out Freedom Wars OT, OP recorded some gameplay videos too. It was said that people came in expecting a monster hunter clone when its more of a TPS.

Wait what? Since when? Isn't it the usual thing to do to actually *reverse* the difficulty for the western release of games instead, where the games are made easier than their Japanese counterpart?

Care to give examples for this phenomenon?

Got the Sly Collection. It's pretty good. Really miss the 60fps of the PS2 and PS3 version but very playable and one of, if not THE, only PS2 ports that are native resolution. That's commendable. Definitely doesn't look nearly as good as Sly 4 on Vita, yet runs the same. Must be another case of PS2 code just being weird and hard to port.

Just Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters and Muramasa DLC, I think.

im blown away from their announcement wow

Castlevania games were actually harder on the west than the japanese ones.

I don't remember any recent games, but wasn't Catherine reviewed badly because of the difficult?

Just same as SS and Toukiden (and probably GE2), the localization version of FW should have everything patched from the get-go.
However for Western gamers who is used to fps/tps (not only control scheme but general rules, like you must strafe to avoid shots) may find patched version a bit too easy I'm afraid :p
