E3 2008 Nintendo Conference

Fucking hell, Kaz Hirai would have to rape a baby on stage to top that embarrassing disaster.

OMG I CANNOT STOP LAUGHING AHAHAHAHAHA :LOL :LOL :LOL :LOL :LOL :LOL :LOL :LOL :LOL :LOL :LOL :LOL :LOL :LOL :LOL :LOL :LOL

I cannot believe that the press site is totally bare. DS had a pretty good show I guess.

Not one thing for Wiiware. Nothing really for Wii. Just a lot of nothing.

Well outside of Rhythm Heaven coming to the US (which wasn't in the conference, only the press kit) I can safely just sit back and laugh at the situation.

Nintendo fans need to realize exactly what brought Nintendo back to the top, and how horrible they were when they were at the top before. So none of this should surprise you. I just hope you all learned your lesson and will stop trying to argue with rational legitimate gamers about how much you pretend to like their casualized garbage.

If we can come to that deal, I promise GAF will be so much better for everyone.

Wow. That was really bad. I mean, I expected more casual games. And most of the do sound fairly interesting (Was wiiMusic really bad? I was livebogging it), but I expected something for the core audience.

Reggie on G4:

"How could hardcore gamers feel left out after that conference? We announced Animal Crossing: City Folk, which everybody's been asking for... and uh, GTA DS. Again, how could the hardcore feel left out?"

Paraphrased

That was utterly disgusting.

That sums it up pretty much.

Wii Music is basically the KIRBY AIR RIDE of music games. No matter what you do, you'll win! Hooray!

Spoken like a true person who's never played Kirby Air Ride.

Where is this press kit that says Rhythm Tengoku is coming stateside?

Reggie on G4 saying GTA DS and Animal Crossing should satisfy core gamers :lol
!!!

SO NOT TRUE, REGGIE! NOT TRUE. I don't even like GTA, and I've never been drawn to Animal Crossing...fuck this shit!

I sold my Wii 1 month after launch for 3x what I paid for it. With the money made, I bought an Xbox360 and games. It's as if I predicted the credit crunch!

Whaaa? Nintendo at the top (the NES/SNES days) was the golden age of gaming...

Its not only that nintendo hates hardcore gamers...they seem to hate tradional gamers overall.

People who enjoyed Mario karts, old school marios and thought that N64 was a great system. :(

See, Wii Fit looked like it would be fun for some people when it was shown last year. But Wii Music?

It doesn't even sound good when you're playing. The sounds coming out of the speakers when you mime your movements is pretty horrible. I guess it'll still sell but I don't see it being as popular as Wii Sports 2 or Wii Fit.

Reggie had no good answer about the hardcore games on G4. thank god Morgan asked him about that. too bad he wasn't pressed on it, though :)

Seems like Okami and SSBB are the last game I bought for the Wii. Thee is nothing on that release list I want. I really feel like selling this thing...

There's something wrong with you if you have no interest in Wario Land Shake.

Amir0x speaketh the truth. *bow*

What makes Reggie think Animal crossing is a game for the core consumer? It is one of the most casual games in existence. If that is Nintendo's idea of a game for the core consumer, count me out.

That conference has so much .gif material! Get your perspective right!

The drummer guy will go down a .gif classic, so much stick in the air action. Hilarious!!!

And of course reggie's "...and now today's news" look....

Even last year, Wii Fit was something I recognized I was not interested in and would not be buying, but I appreciated what it was and thought it was a well done, innovative idea.

Wii Music just looks like dog shit.

All the people saying the MS conference? Yeah, they just beat Nintendo by a country fucking mile.

Horribly disappointed by Nintendo, more so than last year because at least in '07 they had Galaxy. But, wow, talk about taking a shit on your fans.

Ugh. Wow, Nintendo.

I remember on other forums, people were talking about how good Nintendo was to hardcore gamers with the Wii, with all the titles they released in the Wii's first year. I reminded those people of the Gamecube's excellent first year of titles, with Melee, Sunshine, Metroid Prime, Animal Crossing, and Eternal Darkness, among others. The question is, what comes next? On the Gamecube, where they didn't have another market to appeal to, all they had in 2003 was Wind Waker and Mario Kart Double Dash. What was coming for Wii next, I asked?

Nintendo played it coy, saying they had plenty of good stuff at E3. Many people had faith. But wow, Nintendo. What a disappointment. Besides Animal Crossing, which everyone expected, there was NOTHING at this conference. Nothing to justify the Motion+, nothing to justify hardcore faith, nothing to prove that Nintendo had changed since last generation in terms of delivering a consistent stream of titles.

That's the most underwhelming conference since Sony's E3 06.

Is the show still running? Not one stream seems to be working...
Thought it would be the same time as yesterday, but apparently i didn't miss much.

If you want to have a Casual Games Summit Nintendo, that is perfectly fine.
But do it on your own time.

This is E3. This is our time.

That's what really frustrates me about Nintendo. Casual gamers aren't watching this! My mom isn't calling me every two minutes going "are you seeing all the awesome shit Nintendo's puttin' out!" NO! Jeebus, throw me a fuckin' bone will you! I mean sure I'll be buying Resort but am I peeing my pants for it? No, I'm not. The next Call Of Duty game, on Wii? That's what I'm supposed to be excited about? Hello?! If I want it I'll get it for my 360 or PS3 where it'll actually look good (although, for a Wii game, I thought it looked pretty good). HELLO!!! Is anybody out there at Nintendo actually listening? What's-her-name asks Reggie "what about the hardcore gamer?" and Reggie's like "Animal Crossing!" Man o' Christ what planet am I on!

Nintendo probably WANTS to drive away core gamers, maybe they think they dilute their uber-cool casual iamge or some shit

Man what the fuck?

No first party DS games at ALL
No WiiWare games at ALL, be it first party or 3rd party
No single core Wii game SHOWN, not to mention nothing announced
Fucking horrible intro, fuck that Shaun White shit
3rd party games shown we already knew about or were nothing really interesting bar GTA DS

Man, seriously dissappointing. Animal Crossing City Folk looks awesome and everything, and Wii Sports 2 is a fucking big surprise and GTA DS was very cool but they didn't show anything.

Almost all their internal teams are working on new Wii games we don't know nothing about so there should have been at least 1 core announcement. :(

Don't worry, you quoted him so he'll provide you with plenty more words. You can save yours.

Lame overall, I'm sure the voice chat solution people have been bitching about as long as the storage problem will be ignored by all users and developers.

You're really on a roll.

Wow. I predicted nothing but casual garbage, and somehow they managed to disappoint even my expectations. Seriously, they opened with a woman essentially saying: "I'm a soccer mom, and I love Nintendo".

I predicted no actual core games, but I thought they'd at least show a new Kirby game or something. But nope. Just more peripherals, and more Wii Sports. :lol
