E3 2008 Nintendo Conference

Wow that Cammie chick was absolutely HORRIBLE. Please Nintendo do not put her up there next year.

Wii Music and Wii Sports Resort will sell tens of millions.

All in all its good they are taking on this position. Ive always said that. Better Nintendo then Sony or something.. They are expanding the market with these types of games, and its only natural for a portion of that market to want to move onto a real hd gaming console at some point like the PS3.

I gave the Wii a chance and had high hopes, but I wasn't delusional after I played it. Knew right off the bat it was coming to this, but its not a bad thing guys! Relaaaax...

No offence...but...what did you expect really?? Nintendo is in it's own "casual" market, and have been for a long time. The Wii is a Gamecube peripheral, plain and simple. Shame on some of you who mention NPD number's and include Wii, PS3 and 360 together.

Hey, Nintendo faithful: remember back in the lean GC days when you were shaking your fists and promising that "Nintendo would be back on top one day"?

Well, how does it feel to be right? YOU SICK BASTARDS.

:lol It *was* bad.... for us. I expected this after last years, though. Have all you guys got selective memories at that cringetastic-fest?

Then again...

Where's my fucking Pikmin 3 NINTENDO????!! I HATE YOU FOREVER AND I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU FOR SHOVING IT TO THE SIDE LIKE SCRAPS, WHILE YOU FOCUS ON YOUR MASS MARKET DRIVEL FILTH. FUCK.

500 INTERNAL SERVER ERROR...
ALL YOUR FAULT NINTENDO. ALL YOUR FAULT!!!

by far the worst e3 conference I've ever seen, especially love how reggie atleast twice commented on nitnendo appelaing to both casuals and "veteran" gamers, and yet the whole thing was pandering completely to the soccer moms

I have an old kawai keyboard from the 90's that has a little feature that's pretty much wii music. It's called concert magic, basically there's a variety of prerecorded songs, and you hit any key and the music starts playing, you're just controlling its rhythm by mashing random keys :lol
How is Wii Music supposed to work? I missed that part. Only saw Miyamoto and other dudes looking silly and making noise.

Prereorced songs and you push a button and whatnot to play a predetermined note? Saw Miyamoto doing some apparent freestyling, but that sounded like absolute shit so I don't really see the point of that. Only thing that seemed decent was the percussion.

That was the most horrible conference I've ever endured. The whole time I was expecting a surprise, but nothing from that conference was mildly interesting.

AC is far to conservative in terms of the online. The mic is retarded, needs a headset, I don't want peoples voices coming through the TV. It still looks the exact same, and the city looks bland.

Wii Sports 2 was disappointing. Frisbee, yay. Also the swordplay looked rather bad.

Wii Music was a joke.

I want to punch Ravi Drums in the brain. I have a feeling I'm not alone. I hope Nintendo provides witness protection for him.

Someone needs to tell the female presenter on G4 that the G4 logo has been covering most of her head the whole time.

If you want to have a Casual Games Summit Nintendo, that is perfectly fine.
But do it on your own time.

This is E3. This is our time.

You must have missed the Memo. E3 after 2006 became exactly what Nintendo is using it for 2 years in a row a Mainstream Media Event. Thats why 2/3 of Microsofts conference was casual games and sales talk.

Funny part is only Nintendos Casual stuff will even be talked about in the media.

Seems like Okami and SSBB are the last game I bought for the Wii. Thee is nothing on that release list I want. I really feel like selling this thing...

Holy bubbling dog diarrhea. I was looking forward to Nintendo's press conference the most. Jesus, that was BAD. It was basically the equivalent of watching a guy fellate himself for an hour straight. Only it was on a corporate level.

After Microsoft's average press conference and Nintendo's piece of trash conference, I think I'm going to take up reading and sell all of my video games.

And in conclusion, it's yet another bland major Nintendo conference heavily focused on casual games. Note that they didn't announce one single new major first-party core gamer title for either the Wii or DS. I wasn't expecting a lot, really, considering that we've been let down before by Nintendo too many times for me to expect much from these things anymore, but I was hoping for more... and they hit somewhere below the bottom of the barrel of expectations. Oh well.

It seemed to be going okay early on, but ... then nothing happened. :(

Microsoft devoted most of its conference to really boring stuff too (Scene It, Lips, etc), but at least at the end they had a major announcement.

Ravi likes to drum.

It looks like Ravi is taking a shit on the transporter deck of the Enterprise circa 1966.

wait a god damned minute. that cant be it. wow, sony really doesnt even have to try hard to have the best conference this E3. all they need is something to take the sting away from FFXIII and they'll be alright

Exactly my thoughts. Terrible. Sony could just show old trailers and gameplay footage from previously released games and it would be more entertaining. I can't believe they have sunk this low. Nintendo, why do I put up with you anymore? Sony blow this sh!t out of the water. :D

I can't wait 'til the Sony E3 thread gets stickied. Time to abandon thread.

I got a little upset watching that Reggie interview. He cannot possibly try to say that Animal Crossing has the same significance to the hardcore as say RE5. They should have called him on his BS. Nintendo, Nintendo. Casuals have the money, I guess.

Lean year? With a 24% software sales increase year-on-year? :lol

Sales =/= Quality games. They didn't show anything really game wise, thus they said it was a lean year. They can sell all the mini/carnival games they want it still doesn't help their line up to gamers, just their fat pocketbooks.

Ah, needed some coffee after that, has the weeping and gnashing of teeth started in earnest?
Sure has. Some of you guys threatening to sell your system(any system) after shitty E3 conferences are precious. If you did that you wouldn't have any game systems.

I would say so.

Sony 2006 was watching a platform take its inevitable fall in the market.

This is watching GAMING as we know it crumble into little pieces.
Which is far worse than Sony stumbling out of the starting block. This shit has permanent real world consequences! In Sony's case, we could just defect to Microsoft.

THIS IS DESTROYING EVERYTHING WE LOVE ABOUT GAMING :(

Wii Music is basically the KIRBY AIR RIDE of music games. No matter what you do, you'll win! Hooray!

Nintendo has showed the finger to its core, once more. They claimed they still cared for the core, but they has used the main event for gaming in USA to reinforce the casual side, without throwing a single bone to their traditional followers.

This has been just sad.

Listening to Reggie say how he doesn't understand why Nintendo fans would feel left out makes me want to punch him in the throat.

Conference Scorecards, for those playing along at home :p

This is just accounting for Wii..

Total no. of games shown: 7
Total no. of new games shown: 5 (I think)
Total no. of exclusives shown: 7
Total no. of new exclusives shown: 5

For some perspective, the same scorecard for Microsofts 'Underwhelming-Before-Wada' conference:

Total no. of games shown: 21
Total no. of new games shown: 10 (6 arcade)
Total no. of exclusives shown: 12 (5 arcade)
Total no. of new exclusives shown: 8 (5 arcade)

That was a pretty dire conference.... just like last year.
As people have said... the conferences are for the mainstream media these days.

As a Wii owner i hope Nintendo have some proper games to show off during the next few days &/or in the Press pack because otherwise they will have had a terrible E3 showing.

Oh well, at least it provided some entertaining reactions on here.

Wow. My expectations were low, and even I was disappointed. Zero Wii surprises.

It's like Nintendo is thinking that one Zelda, one Mario, one Smash Bros, and one Metroid is enough to satisfy the hardcore for an entire generation.

This is ridiculous. They'd better be working on Zelda and other core games.

I know Nintendo is "SUCCESSFUL", but they sure feel like a hollow shell of their former selves to me.

You know I love Nintendo and all, but really ... Wii Music looks terrible.

Hopefully the press pack will have all the game announcements (PIKMIN FUCKING 3 PLEASE!), but the overriding thing that came out of that conference was an impression than the DS+Wii success has gone to their head and are now scrambling away to find new things to put a spin on. Even though in the case of something like Wii Music, it plainly just doesn't work. They should have just not hyped that one and called it Drum Training ...

And Wii Sports 2 + the motion thing NEXT SPRING?! Why show it then. That just screamed pre-emptive damage control for whatever is coming up with Sony.

All in all a bit rubbish.

I've never been so happy to be a multi console/portable gamer. I can't believe Nintendo didn't show off a single 1st party hardcore game.

And :lol @ Reggie saying Animal Crossing is a hardcore game on G4.

Nintendogs = Hardcore game confirmed.

You summed that up fucking perfectly.
