'98 Mexico goes up there with '94 America

I really wish the Mexican jersey designers would quit relying on garish green.

In other news, the Dutch team has to leave their current hotel soon. They were only allowed by the FIFA to reserve their current hotel until the Semi-Finals. The reason? The footballer players have to move for high-ranking FIFA sponsers, who will attend the Semi-Finals and Finale.

FIFA needs to be pissed on, dragged through a sewer then buried on the bottom of a cesspool. Seriously, when a bunch of sponsors in suits become more important then the players themselves...

The one Mexican guy on my FB is seriously getting on my nerves. It was a penalty, and it has been like a week, fucking get over it already.

There's tasteless, stupid people all over the planet (see racist tweets on Subban, Neymar's spine, etc)

The internet just gives them a platform to reach more people.

Exactly. Sad that you had to waste your time with that reply, any intelligent person already knows this.

It's not wrong or illegal but it's still bad - like that shitty Italian who said something nasty about Zidane's sister.

Are you trying to suggest he said something very rude about there family members instead of something like "i know which direction you are going to shoot"? It's a penalty shootout in a WC. Not some friendly. He felt he had to do it. People even complained about the last minutes sub and even claiming it's not allowed.

No, I'm saying that it's not in the spirit of the game. Sure it's legal but thats not the point I'm making.

Similarly in Cricket, you can trash talk and intimidate your opponent but again it's against the spirit of the game there as well.

Sub was legal, saying something else is just salt. That sub was the master stroke of the game.
I know soccer is s religion and all that but it's still hard for me to comprehend what goes through the mind of someone who types that he wants a two year old girl being raped.
That person who said that Zuniga better leave Brazil when Neymar was carried away was spot on.

Hide him

They will never acknowledge it was a PK. These bandwagon watchers get into my nerves, there's a video explaining why Yepes goal was legal (it wasn't)

As a Mexican all I can say that is almost as eye-roll worthy as "no fue penal".

Casual WC observers don't know the rules, that's pretty much the bottom line. Not that referees haven't been shit, mind you, but these are not the plays to complain about, they are just the ones that hurt the most.

Well they announced Marco Rodriguez from Mexico will referee the Brazil game. Same guy who supposedly didn't see the Suarez bite.

No ref would've seen the bite.

Everyone on GAF called the bite, I did after watching the play live on the stream. If you look at the video the ref was looking somewhere else, and if his linesman doesn't inform him he isn't going to call shit. Believe me, had he saw it, he would've shown him 2 red cards. That guy doesn't fuck around IF he sees the play. In fact, I expect to see at least 1 red card in that Brazil match now. He is a very no-nonsense kind of guy.

Your hashtag should be #Idiots or something like that. I'm Brazilian and I feel that behaviour is disgusting and couldn't represent any nation or even rational people. And I don't even think that Zuniga deserves to be punished. The fracture was a misfortune rather than his intention.

obviously bad calls that decide the outcome of the game are the biggest issues.

Only team that had constant errors from refs on their side so far has been Brasil. So I really do hope they get beaten by Germany as IMHO they dont deserve to lift the cup, considering that they played well for only 1/2 game so far (first half vs columbia). And Scolari constanting attacking FIFA and refs for "bad" treatment is frankly disgusting.

Sorry Brasilians, I have many good friends from there and all that I met are good peoples, but seeing Scolari made me want them out.

Costa Rica, Chile, Columbia - big props... same goes to Algeria and Team USA. Europeans are boring mostly.

The only reason they don't trash talk at the beginning of the games is that it barely has any influence. So even if you're right, a game gets determined by skill mostly . A penalty shootout gets determined by nerves mostly. I'm sure if a game was determined by nerves everyone would trash talk. And kicking each others legs somehow is in the spirit of the game? You're not wrong but you have to admit that this is far more legit then having to resort to very nasty fouls (a lot also got away with) in order to win, or referee's afraid to give a yellow cards just because a star player already has one. If you see the shit that is happening this WC and you think about it you might find it less controversial the way the coach handled his decisions. Media gonna media. It's not ideal, but it's not really that big a deal.

Damn it guys, stop showing me the reasons we lost 2010. I can't deal with this pain again. In the defense of both those stupid moments that would have changed everything, Germany didn't look like they wanted to win the semi at any point. Everyone looked crazy lazy and wasteful.

Still, fuck Nani, because Germany would have been better off against Portugal, and fuck the ref, because Müller shouldn't have had that card at all.

It's not true? I still don't understand off sides but even Yepes posted that.

it was regular goal... he was probably commenting on comment where someone thought it was offside (it wasnt).

It doesn't matter who touches the ball first. The players were in offside position when the ball was first served, and ended up participating in the play. This is what the rule says:

Offside offense

A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is touched or played by a teammate is only committing an offside offense if, in the opinion of the referee, he becomes actively involved in play by:

Interfering with play

playing or touching the ball passed or touched by a team-mate
Interfering with an opponent
preventing an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponent’s line of vision or movements or making a gesture or movement which, in the opinion of the referee, deceives or distracts an opponent.
Gaining an advantage by being in an offside position
playing a ball that rebounds to him off a goalpost or the crossbar having been in an offside position or playing a ball that rebounds to him off an opponent having been in an offside position.

Since offside is judged at the time the ball is touched or played by a teammate, not when the player receives the ball, it is possible for a player to receive the ball significantly past the second-to-last defender, or even the last defender, without committing an offense.

and it is up to the referee to determine if they participated or gained advantage or interfered, which at least one of them did. The linesman called it before anyone even touched the ball (as is the case with many similar plays) the referee was just following the play inside the box and noticed the flag up after the ball was inside the goal.

I think it was correctly ruled out.

Spain absolutely dominated Germany in that Semifinal, Low didn't know understand what he was seeing he was confused as fuck. I honestly thought Germany were surefire favorites in 2010 after their trashing of England and Argentina and Spain looked vunerable against Paraguay.

Just shows that previous matches mean fuck all in these short tournaments.

I like them, but they are too plain/boring. Greece's kit is almost the same thing. Now that Alt Dutch kit...NOM. Really great.

I like plain the best. What Adidas does with their kits is a crime against these teams... making their silly stripes too prominent, those absurd fluorescent kits, I just hate them.

This is true beauty:
