GET A FREE PREVIEW OF WWE NETWORK NOW
Get your FREE preview of WWE Network now and enjoy access to every WWE, WCW, and ECW pay-per-view event ever produced in history! It's just like Netflix and Hulu, but also features 24/7 programming. Simply create an account and start watching immediately. No credit card required.

For those that don't know, WWE Network offers on-demand of a bunch of old wrestling content, including every PPV ever aired from WWE, WCW and ECW as well as older stuff from pre-90s era and also includes original content, like WWE Main Event (live), WWE NXT, Total Divas and will air a special Monday Night War preview tonight after WWE Raw goes off-air, which is a documentary type TV series focussing on the WWE/WCW ratings war of the late 90s.

Anyway, free this week until July 14th without CC needed to sign-up, so definitely check it out, if only to check out some of the on-demand stuff. You can even watch the latest PPV or WM30 or something, if you wish.

Worth popping in for a week, easily. Enjoy, everyone.

Total Divas is worth watching. Great trashy TV.

Probably doing a free week to get more subscribers (well, obviously, I guess.) I'm told the reason the stock took such a hit and knocked Vince out of the Billionaires Club is because WWE Network didn't get anywhere near as many subscribers in the first six months as they had planned.

they still aren't streaming live episodes?

They stream live everything except Raw and Smackdown. TV deals. Can't fuck with those.

You get Superstars live, Main Event, NXT and PPVs live.

Yup.

And growth through the year for big events like Summerslam, as people have talked about, have always struck me as crazy. Who is signing up for the Network to watch Summerslam that didn't already do it for WrestleMania?

That and WWE said they would get double or triple the TV rights fees during the most recent contract renewal and didn't get anywhere close to that(likely partly due to the WWE Network's existence).

Yep. WWE is worried that the subscribers numbers will be lowered than expected. :(

Well I signed up for the free trial to watch some old wccw, ECW, and wcw and this is very light on content. If you have no interest in watching the current ppvs every month this is pretty bad. I could never see myself actually giving them money for the network though.

They have to edit every single ECW episode to have alternate music for pretty much every entrance. So my understanding is they are added to the service as they are done.

I rather them mute the entrance music and use THIS IS EXTREME for the intro because holy shit the stock tracks are the worst.

They knew they were launching the network years ago, so they've had plenty of time to get content ready. There really isn't an excuse for the little amount of content they have from other promotions.

Don't they just bill you later? I'm certain that's how most subscription things get to you back in the day like magazine and mail order stuff when they tell you they'll send you free issues of stuff and then they send you a bill when you forget to "unsubscribe"

As long as the WWE Network is going I will be a subscriber to it. The only thing I wish it had was live streams of RAW and Smachdown. Even if they couldn't do the live streams it would be nice to have them up the following day. I hate that I only get to watch the 90 minute version of RAW on Hulu.

How far back does their archive go?

Can I watch Sgt. Slaughter wrestle Iron Sheik?

Yes you can. Back to the 70s. I think there's even a show from 69? Can't remember.

What is "The Monday Night War" ?

Is it a history of the Monday Night Wars?

Yep, but at the same time, that subject has been done to death. Still...probably one of my favorites times, as a fan, to watch - so I'll check it out.

I haven't used my WWE Network sub since WrassleMania.

I should really get on it before I end up canceling it after SS.

Great value, though.

I'd even recommend NXT Takeover over Arrival. Takeover was fucking amazing. Here's a direct link, it features one of the best womens' matches I've seen all year between Ric Flair's daughter and Jim Neidhart's daughter. It's excellent and a whole hell of a lot of fun.

Can I recommend Legends House?

I'm a big fan of trashy reality shows and Legends House was pretty poor even to those standards. It's just "ok" - not worth it really.

I reviewed an episode and a half at legitshook.com before I got frustrated and didn't want to watch it anymore.

I'm still a sucker for that, so I'll definitely watch it.

Also, today, 18 years ago, Hulk Hogan announced the formation of the nWo.

Incredible.

There are no old Nitros? Old Raw selection is pretty limited.

Yeah its very limited in the good stuff. First thing I did was look at the WCCW collection and then search for Nitro. Nothing came up. I don't see how this will encourage people to sign up after a free week, but WWE is desperate right now. You can pretty much get all the use out of it within a week and then its only good to watch the new ppvs every month. WWE will put a lot less effort into putting things on there now too, since they are doing a shitload of budget cuts. They already postponed a new season of Tough Enough and Legends House they were going to film.

Paige v Emma and Sami vs Cesaro made me like Arrival more. I think Paige and Emma did a more risky match than Charlotte and Nattie, which made me respec that one more (both were great though).

A highlight...

I wonder how much the subs drop off after the first six months since launching.

I subbed as a lapsed wrestling fan for nostalgia but they still don't have nitro or attitude era raws. PPVs have little value to me since I don't have cable to keep up with current stuff.

I've maybe watched one ppv since wrestlemania and will let it expire in a few months.

Just watch both Arrival and Takeover and love it.

And love the Ascension. SO GOOD.
